#35e. கீர்த்திவாசன்

அஞ்சிய தோழியர் ஓடினர் தேவியிடம்;
அஞ்சிய தேவியோ ஓடினாள் பிரானிடம்.

யோகம் கலைந்து எழுந்தார் சிவபிரான்.
வேகமாக எறிந்தார் தன் சூலாயுதத்தை!

விழுந்தான் சிரம் துண்டாகிய கஜமுகன்!
விழும் பொழுது "சிவாய நம:" என்றான்.

அவசரத்தில் பக்தனைக் கொன்றதால்
அவனை எழுப்பி வரம் தந்தார் சிவன்.

"தங்கள் ஸ்பரிசம் தந்தது முக்தியை
தங்கள் சேவையே என் விருப்பம்" என

யானைத் தோலை உரித்து அணிந்தார்;
யானைத் தலையை பத்திரப் படுத்தினார்.

கீர்த்தி வாசன் என்னும் பெயருக்குப்
பாத்திரம் ஆனார் சிவபிரான் இதனால்.

மண்டபம் நிலை நாட்டப்பட்டது மீண்டும்.
மண்டபத்தில் தேவி; நிஷ்டையில் பிரான்!

மிக்காரும், ஒப்பாருமில்லை என்று
எக்காளம் இட்டு வந்தான் சிந்தூரன்.

"பூரித்து மகிழ்ச்சி அடையாதே சிந்தூரா!
தூரத்தில் இல்லை உன் பரிதாப முடிவு!

வல்லவன் ஒருவன் பார்வதி வயிற்றில்
கொல்லுவதற்காக வளர்த்து வருகிறான்!"

யார் பேசியது என்று ஊரெங்கும் தேடினான்
யாரையும் காணோம்; அது அசரீரி வாக்கு!

'என்னை அழிப்பதற்கு ஒருவனா - நான்
என்னை அழிக்குமுன் அவனை அழிப்பேன்!"

சென்றான் கைலாசம்; இல்லை அங்குதேவி!
சென்றான் சுவர்க்கம்; இல்லை அங்கு தேவி!

அறிந்தான் தேவி பூவுலகில் இருப்பதை.
அடைந்தான் பரியலி வனத்தை உடனே!

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

#35e. Keerthivaasan

The frightened ladies ran to Parvathi Devi. The frightened Devi ran to lord Siva. His yoga was disturbed. He got up and threw his trident at Gajamukhan. Gajamukhan fell down with his head severed. His last words were "Sivaya namah"

Siva felt sorry for having killed his own devotee in haste. He woke up Gajamukhan to give him boons. Gajamukhan said, "My only wish is to be of some service to you my lord!"

Siva ripped off his hide and wore it. He was called as Keeerthi Vaasan after this incident. Siva kept safe the head of Gajmukhan.

The gem studded mandapam was put back in its place. Parvathi was in the mandapam and Siva in Yoga as before.

Sindooran had become arrogant that he was second to none and superior to everyone.

The aakaashvaani warned him,"Do not be so proud Sindooraa! Your pathetic end is very near. A baby is growing the womb of Parvati. He will surely kill you."

Sindooran looked around and found no one there. He said to himself. "I will not wait till that child in the womb emerges and kills me. I will kill it first"

He went to Kailash in search of Parvati Devi. She was not there. He then went to swarggam. Devi was not there either. He found out that Parvathi was in Pariyali vanam and went there immediately.

#35f . சிந்தூரன்

நிஷ்டையில் இருந்தார் பரமசிவன்;
நித்திரையில் இருந்தாள் பார்வதி.

வாயு ரூபத்தில் நுழைந்தான் கருவில்!
வளரும் சிசுவின் சிரத்தை அறுத்தான்!

வீசி எறிந்தான் விந்தியமலைச் சாரலில்;
ஆசுவாசப் படுத்திக்கொண்டான் தன்னை.

தன்னை அழிக்க உருவான கருவைத்
தானே அழித்ததாக எண்ணிக்கொண்டு !

சிரத்தைச் சிந்தூரன் எறிந்த இடம்
உருவானது மாபெரும் பள்ளமாக

கணேச குண்டம் என்ற பெயர் பெற்றது
சோணை நதியே வழிந்தோடிய உதிரம்!

சரிந்து விழுந்த பாறைகள் பெற்றன
கரிமுக நாதனின் சுயம்பு வடிவினை

சிரம் அறுபட்டபோதும் தேவியிடம்
கரு வளர்ந்தது, அழிந்து விடவில்லை.

ஆண் மகவு பிறந்தது பார்வதிதேவிக்கு;
ஆனால் தலைப் பகுதி இருக்கவில்லை!

வருத்தம் அடைந்தாள் பார்வதிதேவி - மகன்
பெருமையை அறிந்த சிவன் பேசவில்லை.

முகம் இல்லாமல் பிறந்த குழந்தையால்
அகம் வருந்திக் கலங்கினர் தேவர்கள்

சிரம் இல்லாதவன் என்ன சாதிப்பான்?
சிரம் அன்றோ உடலுக்குப் பிரதானம்?

துயரம் தீரும் என்று இருந்தது மாறித்
துயரம் அதிகரித்து விட்டது இப்போது.

#35f. Sindhooran

Siva was in yoga and Parvathi Devi was asleep. Sindhooran entered her womb as wind and severed the head of the fetus. He threw it on the slopes of Vindhya giri. He was happy that he had destroyed the child who was destined to destroy him.

The place where the severed head fell became a huge pit and became the Ganesa kundam. The flowing blood became the river SoNai. The rocks displaced by the head became the swayambu of Ganesa.

The fetus developed in spite of its head being severed. In due course Parvathi delivered a male child, but he did not have a head. She became very sad. But Siva who knew everything did not speak a word.

The Deva felt dejected. "How could a headless child save them from Sindhooran?' After all head was the most important part of a body!"

Instead of infusing confidence and hope the child made then more worried and scared.

#35g. கஜமுகன்

பிரமன் இழந்தான் தன் பொறுமையை;
பிற தேவர்களின் சொற்களைக் கேட்டு!

"பரம் பொருளைப் பற்றி அறியாமல்
மனம் போனபடிப் பேசுவது தவறு.

உருவம் தேவையா முழு முதல்
பொருளுக்கு பிற பிறவிகள் போல?"

முகம் இல்லாத குழந்தை பேசினான்
முழுமையான தெளிவு ஏற்படும்படி.

"வருந்த வேண்டாம் தேவகணங்களே !
உருவக் குறைபாடு நிகழ்ந்தது என்னால்.

பிரமனின் வரங்கள் பொய்க்கலாகாது;
பிருஹஸ்பதி வரம் பலிக்கவேண்டும்.

மயேச்சுரன் பிறந்தான் கஜமுகனாக;
மகேசன் பாதுகாத்தான் அவன் சிரத்தை.

கழுத்தில் பொருத்திவிடுங்கள் அதை.
பலிக்கும் எல்லா வரங்களும் இதனால்!"

நாரதர் வினவினார் இதன் காரணத்தை;
கூறினார் விநாயகர் நடந்தது நடந்தபடி

"தேவியின் வயிற்றில் வளருவதைப்
பாவியிடம் சொன்னேன் அசரீரி ஆகி!

கருவில் நுழைந்தான் வாயு ரூபத்தில்;
சிரத்தை அறுத்து எறிந்தான் விந்தியத்தில்.

கஜமுகனுக்குத் தேவகுரு தந்த வரம்
நிஜமாவதற்கு இது ஒன்றே வழி ஆகும்

கஜமுகனின் சிரத்தை நான் தாங்கினால்,
கஜமுகனை வணங்குவர் உலகத்தினர்."

நிஜத்தலை போலப் பொருந்தியது நன்கு,
கஜமுகனின் தலை சிவன் தந்தது அங்கு!

ஆவணி மாத பூர்வ பட்ச சதுர்த்தியில்
அவனியில் அவதரித்தான் ஆனைமுகன்.

#35g. Gajamukhan

Brahma lost his patience listening to the words of the Deva gathered there. "We should not talk in this manner when we are ignorant of the plans of the supreme power. It does not need any form or shape like the other creations"

The child without a head spoke now. "Please do not worry about this any more. I myself caused this defective body come into being and on purpose. Brahma's boons have to come true. Bruhaspati's boons have to come true.

All these can happen only if I bear Gajamukha asuran's head on my shoulders. Lord Siva has kept gajamukhan's head safe. It will fit me perfectly. Everyone will worship Gajamukhan and all the boons will become true"

Narada wanted to now how these things happened. Ganesha told him this. "I warned Sindhooran about the purpose of my birth as an asareeri. He entered Devi's womb as wind and severed my head."

The Gajamukha asuran's head kept safe by Lord Siva was brought. It fitted perfectly on the baby's neck. God Gajamukha was born on the poorva paksha chathurti in the month of AavaNi.

#35h. நாரதர் கலஹம்

கைலாசத்தில் வளர்ந்தான் கஜானனன்;
கலஹம் புரிவதற்குச் சென்றார் நாரதர்!

உபசரித்தான் வரவேற்ற சிந்தூரன்;
"உலகில் கண்ட அதிசயம் கூறும்!"

"கண்டேன் ஓர் அதிசயம் கயிலையில்!
முண்டமாகப் பிறந்ததாம் ஆண்குழந்தை!

மகேஸ்வரன் பாதுகாத்த யானைத் தலை,
மகோன்னதமாகப் பொருந்தியதாம் அதில்!

தலை இல்லாமல் பிறந்தது ஏனோ? யானைத்
தலை நன்கு பொருந்தியதன் மர்மம் ஏதோ?

அறிவு மிகுந்த அதிசயக் குழந்தை - அது
செறிவுடன் வளர்கின்றது கயிலையில்!"

கோபம் பொங்கி எழுந்தது சிந்தூரனுக்கு!
'சாபம் பலித்து விடுமோ ஒருவேளை?'

"யானை முகத்தவன் எனது பகைவன்;
யானை முகத்தோனை அழிப்பேன் நான்"

சிந்தூரனைத் தூண்டிவிட்ட நாரதர் - தான்
வந்த வேலை முடிந்ததென மகிழ்ந்தார்.

சென்றார் அங்கிருந்து கைலாசம் நேராக!
சொன்னார் சிந்தூரனின் வருகை பற்றி!.

திக்குகள் நடுங்கச் சென்றான் கைலாசம்
திக்குகளில் சிதறி ஓடினர் தேவர்கள்.

"யார் என்னைக் கொல்லப் பிறந்தவன்?
யார் யாரைக் கொல்கிறார் பார்ப்போம்!"

கஜானனன் வந்து நின்றான் கண்முன்;
"நிஜமாகவே நான் தான் நீ தேடுபவன்;

சாபத்தை நிறைவேற்றப் பிறந்தேன்.
கோபத்தால் விளையும் பயன் இல்லை"

#35h. Narada's help

Gajaananan grew well in Kailash under the loving care of Parvathi Devi. Narada wanted to speed up the proceedings and bring about the destruction of Sindhooran. So he went to meet Sindhooran.

Sindhooran welcomed the Devarushi with great hospitality and asked him, "Please tell me the wonders you have seen here". Narada replied, "I have a seen a real wonder in Kailash. A male child is born to Parvathi Devi. But it did not have any head.

The head of an elephant kept safe by Lord Siva fitted the neck perfectly. Now the child carries the head of an elephant. He is very intelligent. Still I can't help wondering what happened to his original head and why the elephant head fits him so well"

Sindhooran remembered his curse. 'Is this child the elephant-head who was destined to destroy him? The elephant faced boy is my mortal enemy. I have to destroy him first!'

Narada was happy that his mission was successful and went straight to Kailash to inform about Sindooran's plan.

Sindooran arrived in Kailash with a lot of noise and din. The Deva got frightened and ran away as usual.

Sindhooran roared in anger, "Who is the boy born in order to kill me? Let me see who kills whom now?"Gajaananan came and stood in front on Sindhoorn and said,

"I am the boy you are looking for. I am born to make the curse come true. No use losing your temper and shouting in anger"

#35i. விஸ்வரூபம்

கல கல வென்று நகைத்தான் சிந்தூரன்,
கஜானனனைக் கண்ணெதிரில் கண்டதும்.

"சின்னஞ் சிறு பாலகனா போரிட்டு
என்னைக் கொல்லப் போகும் எதிரி?"

"போர் என்றால் என்னவென்று தெரியுமா?
போய் அன்னை மடியில் அமர்ந்துகொள்!"

"சிறியவன் என்றால் வலிமை அற்றவனா?
சிற்றுளி பிளந்திடும் பெரிய மலையை!

சிறிய அங்குசம் அடக்கும் யானையை
சிறியவன் பெரியவன் ஆவதைப் பார்!"

விஸ்வரூபம் எடுத்தார் கஜானனர்
விஸ்வம் இருந்தது அவர் உடலில்.

அந்தணர் தோன்றினர் முகத்திலிருந்து;
அரசர்கள் தோன்றினர் புஜத்திலிருந்து;

தோன்றினர் வணிகர் தொடையில்;
தோன்றினர் அடியில் பிற வர்ணத்தோர்;

தோன்றினான் விழிகளில் கதிரவன்;
தோற்றினான் மனத்தினில் சந்திரன்;

தோன்றியது நாசியில் நெருப்பு;
தோன்றியது ஆகாசம் வயிற்றில்

தோன்றியது விண்ணுலகு திருமுடியில்;
தோன்றியது மண்ணுலகு திருவடியில்;

மதி மயங்கி நின்று விட்டான் சிந்தூரன்
துதிக்கையால் வாரி எடுத்தது அவனை

நசுக்கிப் பூசிக் கொண்டார் மேனியில்;
நாற்றிசையும் பரவியது நறுமணம்!

திருமேனியில் இணைந்தான் சிந்தூரன்;
திசையெங்கும் பரவிற்று குதூகலம்!

துந்துபி முழங்கியது, பூ மாரி பெய்தது!
தும்பிக்கையான் சிறு குழந்தையானான்!

# 35i. Viswaroopam

Sindooran had a hearty laugh when he saw the small boy standing in front of him. He thought to himself, ' Will this child be able to fight me and kill me?'

He asked Gajaananan, "Do you now the meaning of the word war? Go and sit on your mother's lap" Gajaananan replied, "Small stature does not mean lack of strength. The small chisel breaks the big rocks. The small ankusam control an elephant. Watch the small becoming the huge now."

He took viswaroopam now. The whole creation was in his body. The Brahmins were in his mouth, the kings in his bhujam, the merchants in his thighs and the others in his feet.

The Sun was in his eyes; the moon in is mind; the fire in his nose and the sky in his stomach. The swarggam was in his head and the earth under his feet.

Sindhooran stood dazed and rooted to the spot. Gajaananan lifted him up with his trunk. He squeezed Sindhooran and applied him on his body as a perfume. The fragrance emanated filled all the directions.

Dundubi blared and flowers rained. Everyone was happy. Gajaananan became a small boy once again.

#36a. மூஷிகன்

மனோமயை சபரி முனிவரின் பத்தினி;
மனதை மயக்கும் அழகுடைய உத்தமி!

நீராடச் சென்றிருந்தார் சபரி முனிவர்;
தாராளமாக உள்ளே வந்தான் ஒருவன்!

ஆகாய மார்க்கமாகச் சென்ற கந்தர்வன்
ஆசைப்பட்டு விட்டான் அழகில் மயங்கி,

விநாயகரின் தீவிர பக்தன் கிரௌஞ்சன்!
"விநாச காலே விபரீத புத்தி!" அல்லவா? .

கையைப் பற்றி இழுத்தான் கிரௌஞ்சன்;
மெய்கூசிய அவள் கையை உதறினாள்!

"முனிவர் இல்லாத நேரத்தில் வந்து என்
புனிதத்தைக் கெடுக்கப் பார்க்கின்றாய்!

சபித்துச் சாம்பல் ஆக்குவேன் ஓடிவிடு!"
கோபித்தாலும் அவன் போகவில்லை.

திரும்பி வந்த முனிவர் கண்டது பத்தினி
கரத்தைப் பற்றி இழுக்கும் கந்தர்வனை.

"மண்ணைத் தோண்டி பதுங்கி வாழும்
மூஷிகனாக மாறக் கடவாய்!" சபித்தார்.

குறைவில்லாமல் வரிசையில் வரும்
கோபம், சாபம், பச்சாதாபம் அல்லவா?

"மோகத்தால் மதியை இழந்துவிட்டேன்.
மோசம் செய்யவிருந்தேன் பத்தினியை.

மன்னித்து அருளும் முனிவரே.என்னை.
மாற்றிவிடுங்கள் உங்கள் கடும் சாபத்தை".

கனிவு கொண்டார் முனிவர் அவனிடம்;
இனிய மறுமொழி பகன்றார் அவனுக்கு.

"மதி மயங்கினாய் அழகினைக் கண்டு
மதி தெளிந்தாய் பச்சாதாபம் கொண்டு.

பராசர முனிவர் ஆசிரமத்தில் தோன்றும்
பாச அங்குசனின் வாஹனம் ஆகுவாய்!

விண்ணோரும் மண்ணோரும் போற்றும்
புண்ணியம் எய்தப் பெறுவாய்!" என்றார்

கிரௌஞ்சன் மாறிவிட்டான் மூஷிகனாக
பராசரரின் ஆசிரமம் சென்று அடைந்தான்.

#36a. Mooshikan

Manomayai was the beautiful and chaste wife of sage Sabari. Krounjan was a gandharva and a devotee of Vinayaka. While he was traveling in air, he saw the beautiful rushi patni and desired to possess her.

When sage Sabari went to the river, Krounjan entered the ashram and caught hold of the rushi patni Manomayai's hands. She withdrew from him and scolded him," You have entered the ashram like a thief while my husband has gone away. I will curse you and reduce you to ash! Get lost immediately" But none of her words had any effect of the gandharvan Krounjan.

The rushi returned form the river and saw these happenings. He got angry and cursed Krounjan,"May you become a mooshigan which lives by digging holes in the ground."

Krounjan became wise after the event. He begged for pardon and saapa vimochanam. The sage took pity on him and said, " You will become the vaahanam of Vinayaka who will grow up in the ashram of Paraasarar. You will be respected by the Deva, Maanava and asura alike"

Krounjan got transformed into a mooshigan. He sped towards the ashram of the sage Paraasara.

#36b. அபிநந்தனன்

நாரதர் வந்தார் இந்திர லோகத்துக்கு;
நன்மைகள் புகன்றார் இந்திரனுக்கு.

"ஹேமாவதியின் மன்னன் அபிநந்தனன்
ஹோமம் செய்வதற்கு எண்ணியுள்ளான்.

இந்திரப் பதவியை, சுவர்க்க போகத்தைத்
தந்திரமாகப் பறித்துவிடும் அந்த யாகம்!

இந்த யாகத்தை அழிக்காவிட்டால் உன்
இந்திரப் பதவி கை மாறிவிடும் இந்திரா!"

இந்திரனை அழையாமல் இல்லை யாகம்;
இந்த முறையை விதித்தது சாஸ்திரம்.

"என்னைத் தவிர்த்து யாகம் செய்துவிட்டு
என் பதவியை, போகங்களையே பறிப்பதா?"

காலநேமியை தியானித்தான் இந்திரன்;
காலநேமி தோன்றினான் உக்ரரூபியாக!

"பூலோகத்தில் ஹேமாவதி பட்டினத்தில்
மாபெரும் யாகம் நடக்கப் போகின்றது!

அறிவற்ற அரசன் அபிநந்தனன் என்பவன்
அடைய நினைக்கிறான் இந்திரப் பதவியை.

அளவற்ற ரூபங்கள் எடுத்துச் செல்வாய்!
அழிப்பாய் அபிநந்தனையும், யாகத்தையும்!"

கட்டவிழ்த்து விட்ட காலநேமி சென்றான்;
அட்டகாசமாக யாகசாலையில் நுழைந்தான்!

துவம்சம் செய்தான் யாக சாலையினை!
துவம்சம் செய்தான் யாகப் பொருட்களை!

துவம்சம் செய்தான் யாகம் செய்பவரை!
துவம்சம் செய்தான் யாகம் காண்பவரை.

அத்துடன் நிறுத்தவில்லை காலநேமி;
மொத்தமாக அழித்தான் யாகங்களை.

பூலோகம் முழுவ தும் சுற்றி வந்தான்;
பூமியில் யாகம் நடக்க விடவில்லை!

துதித்தனர் முனிவர்கள் துதிக்கையனை;
மதித்து பதில் அளித்தார் ஓர் அசரீரியாக.

"வரேண்ய ராஜன் வீட்டில் பிறப்பேன்!
விரைவில் உங்கள் துயர் துடைப்பேன்!"

#36b. Abhinandanan

Narada visited Indra lokam. He cautioned Indra about the yaagam proposed by Abhinandanan - the king of Hemaavathy. If that yaagam got completed successfully, then Abhinandanan would usurp Indra lokam and become it new king. Indra would have to flee from there.

No yaagam could be performed without invoking Indra. But now this king proposed to do the yaagam without invoking Indra and grab his power and position too. Indra became very upset. He thought of Kaalanemi. Kaalanemi appeared in front of him in his ugra roopam.

Indra told him,"There is going to be a big yaagam in Hemaavathi city, to be conducted by its king Abhinandanan. Go forth and destroy it completely"

Kaalanemi was happy to be given a freehand in destruction. He went to the yaaga saala and destroyed it. He destroyed all the articles gathered for the yaagam, the sages who conducted the yaagam and the people who were witnessing the yaagam.

There was total destruction, but he did not stop with that. He went around the earth and started destroying all the yaagams, everywhere

The rushis got worried by this unruly behavior and gathered together to pray to Vinayaka to put an end to Kaalanemi.

Vinayaka answered to their prayers as an asareeri, "I will be born as the son of VareNya Raajan and put an end to all your sufferings."

#36c . தெய்வக் குழந்தை

அரசர்களின் குறை என்றுமே இதுதானோ?
வரேண்யன் ஏங்கினான் ஒரு மகவுக்காக!

வாரணமுகன் அருள் புரிந்தான் அவனுக்கு.
வாரிசு உருவானது அரசி புஷ்பகையிடம்.

குறித்த காலத்தில் பிறந்தது ஆண் மகவு.
மறைத்துவிட்டார் மாயையால் அவனை!

தானே மாறினார் ஒரு ஆண் குழந்தையாக!..
தும்பிக்கை, தொந்தியுடன் ஒரு குழந்தையா?

அஞ்சினர் தோழியர் குழந்தையைக் கண்டு!
அஞ்சினர் அரசி, அரசனும், அமைச்சர்களும்!

எம்பெருமானே வந்து பிறந்திருந்த போதும்
துன்புற்று வருந்தியது அந்த நாடு முழுவதும்.

அரசலக்ஷணங்கள் இல்லாத குழந்தை
அரண்மனையில் வளருவது எதற்காக?

வீரர்கள் எடுத்துச் சென்றனர் குழந்தையை;
விட்டு விட்டனர் ஒரு தடாகத்தின் கரையில்.

நீராட வந்த பராசரர் கண்டு மகிழ்ந்தார்.
சீராட்டி வளர்த்தார் தெய்வக் குழந்தையை

நாளொரு மேனி பொழுதொரு வண்ணம்;
வளர்ந்து வந்தான் அந்த தெய்வக் குழந்தை

மூஷிகன் வந்தான் முனிவர் ஆசிரமத்துக்கு
மூஷிகன் விளைவித்தான் பெரும் சேதம்.

பரசுவை ஏவினான் தெய்வக் குழந்தை,
"முரட்டு மூஷிகனைக் கட்டியிழுத்து வா! "

பரசு துரத்தியது மூஷிகனை விடாமல்!
பரசுவுக்கு அஞ்சி ஓடினான் மூஷிகன் .

பாதாளம் வரை குடைந்து சென்றும்
பயன் இல்லை, கட்டி விட்டது பரசு.

இழுத்துச் சென்றது முரட்டு மூஷிகனை.
விழுந்து வணங்கினான் அவன் அவரை.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

#36c. The divine child

Was this the perpetual problem of all the kings? VareNya Raajan did not have any children! He craved for a child more than anything else in the world. Soon Vinayaka took pity on him and graced his queen Pushpagai with a child in her womb.

A male child was born in due time but Vinayaka hid the child by his Maya. He transformed himself into a male child with a trunk and pot belly and took the place of the new born child.

The attendants of the queen got frightened to see a child with an elephant face and pot belly. The Queen, the King and all his ministers all got terrified to see this unusual child. The country was sad not knowing that Lord Vinayaka himself was the weird child.

What was the fun in having a freak child in the palace, when it it did not have any Raja lakshaNas? The soldiers took the child and left it on the bank of a pond in a forest.

Sage Paraasarar came for his bath and saw the baby. He knew it was Lord Vinayaka himself and took the baby to his ashram. He took good care of the child and the child grew up well.

Mooshikan reached the ashram of Paraasarar. He did great damage there. The divine child ordered its parasu,"Go forth, bind the mooshikan and bring him to me"

The parasu chased the mooshikan. He ran all over the place and dug hole right up to the Paataalaa but it was of no use! The parasu captured him, bound him and dragged him to the divine child. Mooshikan fell at the feet of the divine child.

#36d. மூஷிக வாஹனம்

"அபயம்! அபயம் அளியுங்கள் ஸ்வாமி!
அபாயம் இல்லை இனிமேல் என்னால்.

கிரௌஞ்சன் என்னும் கந்தர்வன் நான்;
காமத்தால் கண்ணிருந்தும் குருடானேன்.

முனிவரின் பத்தினியை மோஹித்தேன்;
முனிவரின் சாபத்தால் மூஷிகன் ஆனேன்.

தங்கள் வாஹனமாக ஆகும் பாக்கியம்
தந்து எனை அனுக்ரஹியுங்கள் ஐயனே!"

மூஷிகனை வாஹனமாக ஏற்றுக் கொண்டு,
மூஷிகன் முதுகின் மீது ஆரோஹணித்தார்.
.
"அபிநந்தனனின் யாகத்தை அழித்த பிறகும்
அடங்கவில்லை இந்திரன் ஏவிய காலநேமி.
.
அழிக்கின்றான் அனைத்து யாகங்களையும்
அழித்து அவனைக் காப்பாற்றுவீர் எம்மை!'

முனிவர்கள் முன்வைத்தனர் விண்ணப்பம்
கனிவுடன் கவனிக்கின்றேன் என்றார் ஐயன்.

இந்திராதி தேவர்கள் வந்தனர் ஆசிரமத்துக்கு.
தந்தார் ஆசனம் பராசரர் வந்த அதிதிகளுக்கு.

"காலநேமியின் தலையீட்டால் நின்றுவிட்டது
பூலோகத்தில் நடக்கின்ற யாக, யக்ஞங்கள்.

அவிர்பாகம் பெறாததால் பலவீனத்தால்
அவதிப்படுகின்றோம் பராக்கிரமம் குன்றி.

காலநேமியை அழிக்க வல்ல ஒருவர்
ஞாலத்தில் பிறந்துள்ளதை அறிந்தோம்.

பிரமன் அறிவுறுத்தியபடி வந்துள்ளோம்"
பிரசன்னம் ஆனார் விநாயகர் அப்போது.

"அபயம் அளித்துக் காத்திடும் ஐயனே!"
அபயம் அளித்தார் அன்புடன் விநாயகர்.

#36d. Mooshika Vaahanam

"Please save my oh lord! There will no more danger or damage caused by me. I was a gandharvan named Krounjan.

I felt desire to possess a rushi patni and misbehaved with her. Rishi Sabari cursed me to become a mooshikan. Kindly accept me as your vaahanam and save me from this parasu"

Vinayaka accepted him as his vaahananm. Rushis came in and said "All the yaaga and yagna are being destroyed by Kaalanemi. Please put an end to his atrocities and save us."

Indra and the other Deva came to the ashram then. Paraasarar extended hospitality to those rare visitors. Indra said,

"Kaalanemi is disrupting all the yaaga in the world. We do not get our share of the offerings and have become very weak now.

We know that a child who is capable of destroying Kaalanemi is born in the world and we have come to see him."

Vinayaka appeared there. The Deva prayed to him, "Abhayam! Abhayam! please put an end to Kaalanemi " Vinayaka agreed with a smile.

#36e. காலநேமி

அங்குசத்தைப் பணித்தார் ஐங்கரன்,
"இங்கும் அங்கும் தேடி பந்திப்பாய்

தொந்தரவு செய்யும் காலநேமியை!"
வந்தது, போன வேகத்திலேயே அது.

பந்தித்துக் கொணர்ந்தது கயவனை; .
பகவான் முன் நிறுத்தியது அவனை!

கண்டோர் அஞ்சும் கொடிய உருவம்!
கண்களில் கனல், கோரைப் பற்கள்!

விநாயகரிடமிருந்து தப்பினான் அவன்;
விந்தையாக நீரின் உருவம் எடுத்தான்!

பிரளய ஜலம் போல பிரவகித்தான்;
மிரண்ட உயிர்களை மூழ்கடித்தான்!

உள்ளங்கையில் நீரை அடக்கிவிட்டு
அள்ளிப் பருக முயன்றார் ஐங்கரன்

காக்கை உருவில் பறந்தான் காலநேமி
சாகரம் வற்றியது; மலைகள் நடுங்கின!

தாமரை மலரை வீசினார் ஐங்கரன்
தாமதம் இன்றித் தீஜ்வாலை ஆகி

எரித்தான் அதீத உஷ்ணத்தினால்
மிருகங்கள், பயிர்கள் உயிர்களை.

விநாயகர் மாறினார் மழையாக
அனாயசமாக அணைத்தார் தீயை

புயலாக மாறினான் காலநேமி!
புயலைத் தடுத்தார் விநாயகர்

மலையாக உருவத்தை மாற்றினார்.
மலையைத் தாக்கினான் காலநேமி

வேலை எறிந்தார் விநாயகர் அவன் மீது
வேல் உண்டது சீறி வந்த பாணங்களை

வேலிடமிருந்து தப்ப வழி உள்ளதா?
வேழமுகனிடமிருந்து தப்பமுடியுமா?

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி

# 36e. Kaalanemi

Vinayaka ordered his ankusam. "Go forth and bind the wicked Kaalanemi. Bring him to me".

The ankusam left and returned almost immediately, dragging Kaalanemi along with it.

Kaalanemi was fearsome with eyes like live coals and sharp canine teeth.

He transformed himself into water and flowed away like the praLaya jalam.

He submerged all the frightened creatures. Vinayaka contained him in his palm and was about to drink him, but Kaalanemi became a crow and flew away.

He was so huge and powerful that the seas dried up and the mountains trembled when he flew!

Vinayaka threw his lotus flower at Kaalanemi. He became a huge flame of fire and scorched the plants, animals and other forms of life with his intense heat.

Vinayaka became a rain cloud and put out the flame and fire.

Kaalanemi became a stormy wind. Vinayaka transformed to a mountain and stopped the wind.

Kaalanemi attacked the mountain with his vajrayudham. Vinayaka threw his spear on Kaalanemi.

The spear swallowed all the weapons thrown by Kaalanemi.

Was there any chance of escaping from the speeding spear? Was there any chance of escaping from Vinayaka?

#36f. விக்ன விநாயகர்

தப்பவே முடியாது என்ற நிலை வந்ததும்,
அப்பனிடம் சரண் புகுந்தான் காலநேமி.

"வேலிடமிருந்து காப்பாற்றுங்கள் ஐயனே!
வேலை முடிந்ததும் சாந்தம் அடையாமல்,

மேலும் கொடுமைகள் புரிந்தேன் - இனி
மேலும் துன்புறுத்த மாட்டேன் ஐயனே!"

வேலாயுதத்தைத் திருப்பி அழைத்தார்;
காலநேமியின் அச்சத்தைப் போக்கினார்.

"சரண் அடைந்தவரை அழிப்பது இல்லை
முரண் படாமல் கூறுவததைச் செய்வாய்.

பக்தர்களைத் பற்றினால் அழித்துவிடுவேன்
மற்றவர்களைப் பற்றலாம் நீ!" அனுமதித்தார்.

"உயிர் கொடுத்த உத்தமரே! பணிவேன் என்
உயிர் உள்ளவரையில் உங்கள் ஆணைகளை!"

விக்கினங்கள் புரிந்து வந்த காலநேமியை
விக்கின விநாயகர் அடக்கினார் என்றதும்,

"எம்பெருமானே குழந்தையாகப் பிறந்தும்
துன்பமுற்று காட்டுக்கு அனுப்பிவிட்டேன்"

வரேண்ய ராஜன் ஓடினான் காட்டுக்கு.
பராசரரிடம் கோரினான் தன் மகனை!

பெற்றனர் வரங்கள் ஐயனைப் பெற்றவர்;
பெற்றனர் வரங்கள் ஐயனை வளர்த்தவர்.

திரும்பினார் தம் லோகத்துக்கு விநாயகர்;
அருமையான புதிய பட்டப் பெயருடன்!

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

#36f. Vigna Vinayaka

When Kaalanemi was sure that it was impossible to escape from the spear, he surrendered to lord Vinayaka."Please protect me from your spear. I should have become calm and peaceful after completing my mission set by Indra. But I continued to do harm and destroy all the Yaaga and Yagna. I will not hurt or harm anyone in the future. I promise"

Vinayaka called back the spear and saved Kaalanemi from destruction. He told Kaalanemi, "I will not destroy anyone who seeks my protection. In future do not trouble any of my bhaktas. If you trouble, I will have to destroy you." Kaalanemi said,"You have spared my life. I will obey your commands as long as I live"

VareNya Raajan realized his folly. He had got Vinayaka himself as his son and yet he was foolish enough to disown the child. He ran to meet sage Paraasarar. He wanted his son back.

But Vinayaka said, " My mission has been accomplished and I have to return to my world." He showered many boons on the King and Queen as well as the sage Paraasara and his wife, before returning to his own land.

He got a new title Vigna Vinayaka - since he conquered Kaalanemi who was creating a lot of problems in the world.

#37a. வேதங்கள் எங்கே?

தேவர், அசுரர் இடையே நடந்தது,
தேவையற்ற நீண்ட யுத்தம் ஒன்று!

வேதங்களையே அஸ்த்திரமாக்கி
தேவர்கள் வென்றனர் அசுரர்களை.

தோற்ற அசுரர்கள் ஓடி ஒளிந்தனர்;
தேற்றினார் சங்க, கமல அசுரர்கள்.

"வேதங்கள் ஆயுதங்களாக மாறின;
வேதங்கள் இருப்பது பிரம்மனிடம்.

கைப் பற்ற வேண்டும் அவற்றை நாம்;
கைமேல் வெற்றி தரும் அவை நமக்கு!"

சங்காசுரன் அனுப்பினான் இளவலை;
"எங்கிருந்தாலும் தேடிக் கொண்டு வா!":

பிரம்ம லோகம் சென்றான் மாயையால்;
பிரம்ம தேவனைக் கண்டான் தியானத்தில்

எளிதாகத் திருடிவிட்டான் வேதங்களை;
ஒளித்தும் விட்டான் சங்காசுரன் கடலில்!

நிஷ்டை கலைந்த பிரம்மன் திடுக்கிட்டான்;
கஷ்டகாலம் வேதங்களைக் காணவில்லை!

குழப்பம் நிலவியது எல்லா இடங்களிலும்;
வழக்கமான நீதிநெறிமுறைகள் குலைந்தன.

ஞான திருஷ்டியில் கண்டான் பிரம்மன்
ஞானச் சுவடிகள் கடல் நீரின் அடியில்!

பரந்தாமன் பாற்கடலில் அறிதுயிலில்;
பரமசிவனை நாடி ஓடினார் பிரம்மன்;

"விநாயகரே வெல்ல வல்லவர் அசுரரை;
விநாயகர் அருளைக் கோருவாய்!" என்றார்.

பிரமன் அமர்ந்தான் தன் பத்மாசனத்தில்,
கரிமுகன் தோன்றினான் பிரத்தியக்ஷமாக

#37a. Where are the Vedas?

A long war went on between the Deva and Asura for no real reason at all. Finally the Deva defeated the Asura by using the Vedas as an asthram. The Asuras got defeated and went into hiding.

Sankaasuran and Kamalaasuran were not happy with this defeat. They spoke to the other Asuras. "We can win over the Deva if we have the Vedas with us. We must get hold of them somehow"

Sankasuran sent his younger brother Kamalaasuran to steal the Vedas. Kamalaasuran went to Satylalokam using his power of Maya. He found Brahma in deep meditation and it became very easy to steal the Vedas. He hid them under the sea water.

When Brahma came out of his meditation, he found that the Vedas had been stolen. He got upset since without the Vedas, confusion would spread everywhere and Dharma would take a back seat.

He saw in his divya dhrushti that the Vedas were hidden under the sea water. He ran to Vishnu for help but he was asleep on Aadiseshan.

He then ran to Parama Sivan. Siva told him, "Those powerful Asuras can be destroyed only by Vinayaka. Seek his grace." Brahma sat on his lotus aasanam and meditated on Vinayaka.

Vinayaka appeared to give a dharshan to Brahma.
