#34f. Kapilar

GaNan went to Sathya lokam. He was given a warm welcome. Brahma knew that GaNan was invincible and did not want to fight with him. He showered rare gifts and honored GaNan.

Vaikuntam also extended a warm welcome to GaNan since it was useless to try to defeat him. Vishnu presented GaNan with many rare and rich gifts. After conquering all the three worlds, GaNan ruled his kingdom as before.

His fame and name spread in all the directions. He was good king and did many good things to his citizens.

The wild animals in the forest threatened the hunters living there. They requested GaNan to make their lives easier and safer by killing those wild animals.

GaNan left with his soldiers to the forest. They hunted down all the wild animals. They became very thirsty and tired. They looked for fresh water and found a beautiful garden. It had sparkling clear river running through it.

GaNan and his soldiers took a refreshing bath in the cool water and sat on the bank to rest for a while. There was an ashram in the garden it belonged to the sage Kapilar. He lived there with this disciples.

One of his disciples came for water. He was excited to see the king and his soldiers there. He ran to inform his guru of this. He came running again to invite GaNan and his soldiers to the ashram of Kapilar.

[h=1]34g. சிந்தாமணி[/h] முனிவரின் அழைப்பினை ஏற்று வந்தனர்;
இனிய முனிவரைப் பணிந்து வணங்கினர்;


“கணன் என் பெயர்; அபிஜித் ராஜனின் மகன்;
களைத்து விட்டோம் காட்டில் வேட்டையாடி!


தண்ணீரைத் தேடி வந்தோம் இச்சோலைக்கு;
பண்ணிய புண்ணிய வசமே தங்கள் தரிசனம்!”


“பசியுடன் திரும்பலாகாது என் அதிதிகள்;
பரிவாரங்களை வரச் சொல் விருந்துக்கு!


செல்லலாம் திரும்பித் தலை நகருக்கு;
மெல்ல உணவுண்டு களைப்பாறிய பின்”


அணிந்திருந்தார் தன் மார்பில் கபிலர்
அற்புத ரத்தினம் ஆகிய சிந்தாமணியை.


சிந்தையில் நினைத்ததை அளித்திடும்,
விந்தைத் திறன் படைத்த அற்புத மணி.


ஆசனத்தில் அமைத்தார் சிந்தாமணியை;
பூசித்தார் அதை அன்புடனும், பக்தியுடனும்.


அழகிய நகரம் உருவானது சோலையில்!
பழகிய வசதிகள் நிறைந்துள்ள நகரம்!


கண்டதில்லை அந்த உணவு வகைகளை;
உண்டதில்லை அந்த அறுசுவையினை!


நினைத்ததைத் தரும் சிந்தாமணி கணன்
நினைவில் நிலைத்து பேராசை ஊட்டியது!


முனிவரை வணங்கிச் சொன்னான் கணன்,
“மணியால் யாது பயன் உமக்கு முனிவரே?


மூவுலகாளும் என்னிடம் அது இருந்தால்
மூவுலகமும் பயன் பெறும் சிந்தாமணியால்”

#34g. ChintaamaNi


GaNan and his soldiers went to meet Sage Kapilar. GaNan paid his respects and introduced himself as the son of King Abhijith and explained his purpose of visit to the forest.


The kind sage told him, “You must be very hungry and tired. None of my guests ever leave this ashram with pangs of hunger. All of you can eat, relax and the return to your capital”


Kapilar was wearing a rare gem on his chest called ChintaamaNi. It could give anything the wearer wished for. Sage Kapilar kept the ChintaamaNi on a befitting seat and worshiped it with bhakti and love.


A city appeared in the garden. It was fit for a king and his army with every convenience they were used to. Enough food appeared to feed all the group. No one had ever seen such varieties nor tasted such an excellent food.


The rare gem made GaNan covet to posses it. He told the sage,”You are living in the forest in seclusion. What is the use of keeping this rare gem here? If it is with me, it will serve and fulfill all the needs of my citizens.”

#34h. கபிலரின் தவம்

"உயிரைக் கேள் தருகிறேன் மன்னா!
உனக்கு வசப்படாது சிந்தாமணி!" என

கண்ணால் கண்டு விரும்பிய பொருளை
மண்ணாள் அரசன் விட்டு விடுவானா?

"வல்லான் வகுத்ததே வாய்க்கால்" போல்
வலிமையால் அபகரித்தான் மணியை!

மணியுடன் திரும்பினான் நாடு- இட்டார்
முனிவர் மனம் வருந்தியதால் சாபம்!

"இனிய என் இறைவன் மண்ணில் வந்து
மனிதனாகப் பிறந்து அழிப்பான் உன்னை!"

கடும் தவத்தில் ஈடுபட்டார் கபிலமுனிவர்;
சுடும் தீ ஜ்வாலையாகக் காட்சி அளித்தாள்

சாருஹாசினி என்னும் விஷ்ணு மாயை!
அருள் கூர்ந்து கூறினாள் கபிலமுனியிடம்,

"பிரானிடம் வரங்கள் பெற்றுள்ள கணனை
பிரம்மாதி தேவர்களால் அழிக்க இயலாது!

ஆதிகாரணனான விநாயகர் மட்டுமே
அழிக்க வல்லவர் கணனை அறிவீர்!

தவம் செய்வீர் விநாயகர் மீது!" எனத்
தாயினும் பரிந்து கூறினாள் மாயை.

"தருவீர் தவம் செய்யும் விதிமுறையை!"
திருமந்திரத்தை உபதேசித்தாள் மாயை.

"ஜெபியுங்கள் பதினெட்டு லக்ஷம் முறை
துதிக்கையன் தருவான் திவ்ய தரிசனம்!"

முறைப்படி ஜபித்துச் செய்தார் ஹோமம்;
குறைவின்றி நிறைவுற்றன வழிபாடுகள்!

மன்மத விக்ரஹத்தைப் போன்று கண்முன்
விக்னராஜர் தோன்றினார் தேவியர்களுடன்.

#34h. Kapilar's penance

"It will easier for me to part with my life than to part with ChintaamaNi" the sage Kapilar told the Ganan. But once a king ... always a king! If any king sets his eyes on any thing superior, he simply must possess it. Ganan took away the ChintaamaNi by sheer force.

Sage Kapilar felt very hurt by the treacherous way his kindness was repaid by GaNan and his army. He cursed GaNan, "The lord whom I worship will be born on earth as a man and destroy you!"

Kapilar started doing severe penance. Vishnu Maya appeared to him as a Jwaala of fire and told the sage, "Ganan has got several boons from lord Siva. He can not be destroyed by Indra or any Deva or even by Brahma and Vishnu. Only Vinayaka is capable of destroying him. So pray to Vinayaka!"

"Please tell me the right manner to pray to him" the sage requested Vishnu Maya. She taught him the holy mantra and said "If you do japam of this mantra eighteen lakh times, Vinayaka will give you his dharshan"

Kapilar started his penance, japam and homam and completed them successful. Vinayaka appeared before him - more beautiful than Manmatha himself - along with his two Devis Siddhi and Buddhi.

#34i. விநாயகர்

ரத்தின கிரீடம், செவிக் குண்டலங்கள்;
முத்து மாலை, வலிய நான்கு புஜங்கள்;

கருணை பொழியும், முகம் அருட்பார்வை;
அருகினில் சித்தி தேவியும், புத்தி தேவியும்!

வணங்கி வழிபட்டார் கபில முனிவர்,
கணபதியை மெய் சிலிர்த்து, புல்லரித்து!

"கணன் என்னும் அபிஜித்ராஜனின் மகன்,
கவர்ந்து சென்றான் அரிய சிந்தாமணியை.

வென்றுள்ளான் பிரம்மாதி தேவர்களை.
பெற்றுள்ளான் நீண்ட ஆயுளை வரமாக!"

"கணன் கவர்ந்த சிந்தாமணியை மீட்டுத்
கபிலரே தருவேன் மீண்டும் உம்மிடமே!"

கனவு ஒன்றைக் கண்டான் கணன்;
நனவிலும் வந்து பற்றியது கவலை.

தாய் தந்தையரை அழைத்தான் - தன்
தாபத்தைச் சொன்னான் அச்சத்துடன்!

"அழிவு காலம் வந்துவிட்டதோ என்று
அஞ்சுகிறேன் கனவு கண்ட பின்னர்.

அளவற்ற சேனையுன் கபில முனிவர்
அமர்க்களம் வருகின்றார் போர் புரிய!

நான்கு கரங்களை உடைய ஒரு வீரன்
கொன்று குவிக்கிறான் என் சேனையை.

காரத்தில் உள்ள மழுவை ஏவிவிட்டு - என்
சிரத்தை அறுத்துத் தள்ளுகிறான் கீழே!

வரங்கள் பொய்த்துப் போய்விடுமோ- என்
சிரம் விழுந்து உருளுமோ மண் தரையில்?"

#34i. Vinaayakar

Vinayaka was wearing a crown made of precious gemstones. He wore kundalams in his ears and pearl strings on his chest. He had four strong arms carrying his four weapons.

His face was merciful and his glance graceful. He was accompanied by his two Devis. Sage Kapila was thrilled by the dharshan and paid his obeisance to lord Vinayaka and his Devis.

He told Vinayaka, "Ganan the son of Abhijith took away by force my rare ChintaamaNi. He has many boons and a long life besides. He has conquered all the three worlds."

"I will take away the ChintaamaNi from GaNan and return it to you!" VInayaka told the sage and disappeared.

GaNan had a nightmare. He was terrified by the dream. He consulted his parents immediately. "I am afraid that my end is nearing. The nightmare has got me really worried. Sage Kapila comes for a battle leading a huge army.

A man with four arms kills all my soldiers. He throws his mazhu at me. It cuts off my head and makes it roll on the ground. Will all my boons fail me? Will my head really roll on the ground?"

#34j. அறிவுரைகள்

ஆலோசனைக் கூட்டத்தை நடத்திட,
அமைச்சர் அளித்தனர் அறிவுரைகள்.

பிரமதன் கூறினான் கணனிடம்,
"அரசே இது என்ன புது மயக்கம்?

ஒரு குடைக் கீழ் உலகாளும் நீர்
வெறும் கனவுக்கு அஞ்சுவதோ?"

கிரந்தன் கூறினான் கணணிடம்,
"அரசருக்கு நன்மை உரைப்பது

அமைச்சரின் கடமை அன்றோ?
குமைச்சலுடன் சபித்தார் கபிலர்,

மன்னன் மணியைக் கவர்ந்தபோது;
மன்னன் கனவு தீவினைப் பயனே!"

விசுவஜித்து கூறினான் குறுக்கிட்டு,
"பேசுவதற்கு இதுவல்ல நல்ல நேரம்,

விசுவாசத்தை நாம் காட்டவேண்டும்
ஆசுவாசப்படுத்த வேண்டும் அரசனை."

விதந்து ஒரு தந்திரசாலி அமைச்சன்;
யதார்த்தத்தையே பேசினான் அவன்.

"கபிலரை நினைவில் வைத்தால்
கபிலரே தோன்றுவர் கனவிலும்!

முனிவரையே அழித்து விட்டால்
இனி ஒரு பயம் இல்லை நமக்கு"

"கேடு வரும் பின்னே ஆயினும் மதி
கெட்டு வரும் முன்னே" உண்மையே.

சம்மதம் விதந்துவின் அறிவுரைகள்!
ஆயத்தம் நான்கு வகைச் சேனைகள்!

கணனின் யுத்தப் புறப்பாட்டால்
கலங்கி ஓடி வந்தான் அபிஜித்.

"தவறுக்கு மேல் தவறு செய்யாதே!
அவரிடமிருந்து பறித்த மணியைக்

கொடுத்துவிடு திரும்ப அவரிடமே!
கெடுமதியை மன்னிக்கச் சொல்!"

அழிவு அழைக்கும்போது யாரால்
அழிவைத் தவிர்த்திட முடியும்?

யுத்தத்துக்குப் புறப்பட்டான் கணன்,
சத்தம் கடல் அலையென ஒலிக்க!

#34J. The Council of ministers

GaNan called all his ministers for counseling. The ministers gave different advices to GaNan.

Pramathan said," Oh king! Why this fear and confusion? You rule over the three worlds. Are you afraid of a mere dream?"

Granthan said, "It is the duty of the ministers to give good advice to the king. When the king took away by force the ChintaamaNi, the sage Kapila cursed him. I am sure the dream is an effect of the curse"

Viswajith interfered and said," We have no time to spend in idle talks. We have to stand by our king and infuse confidence and courage in him, since he appears to be disturbed"

Vithanthu was a cunning minister. He spoke what appeared to be the truth, "If the king keeps thinking about the sage Kapila all the time, he is sure to appear in the King's dreams also. If we kill the sage, there will be no need to fear him any more"

GaNa felt that this was a good advice. The power of thinking gets clouded whenever there is going to be a great fall or total destruction. GaNan got his chaturanga sena ready for a battle with the sage Kapilar.

Abijith was shocked by GaNan's wrong decision. He came running to his son," Oh dear son of mine! Do not commit more and more mistakes. You have taken away by force the rare gem ChintaamaNi from the rushi. Return it to him with humility and seek his pardon. This way you will not have to fear him any more"

But GaNan was determined to wage a war and would not listen to the sound advice given by his well wisher father. The army left making as much noise as the waves of a disturbed sea.

#34k. லக்கன்

ஆசிரமத்தில் செய்து கொண்டிருந்தார்,
அபிஷேக ஆராதனைகள் கபில முனிவர்.

"கணன் வந்துள்ளான் பெரும் படையுடன்!
கண நாதா நீயே அபயம் அபயம்" எனவும்,

வேழமுகன் தோன்றினான், தேற்றினான்;
அழைத்தான் தன் அரிய சிங்கவாகனத்தை.

"நான் செல்கின்றேன் போருக்கு!"என்று
முன் வந்தார் சித்தி தேவியார் உடனே!

உள்ளன்போடு தந்தார் அனுமதி - அவள்
உள்ளங்கையோடு ஒன்றினார் பெருமான்.

நிராயுத பாணியாக ஓர் இளம் பெண்ணா?
குமாரர்கள் கொக்கரித்தனர் ஏளனமாக!

நெருங்கினர் அவளுடன்போர் புரிவதற்கு,
இரு குமாரர்கள் சுலபனும், சூலபாணியும்.

இமைக்கும் நேரத்தில் உற்பத்தி ஆயினர்
இலக்கத்தைக் கடந்துவிட்ட படைவீரர்கள்.

படைகள் மோதின உக்கிரத்துடன்,
தடைகள் இல்லை போர் புரிவதற்கு!

தேவியின் படைகள் தளர்ந்தவுடன்,
தேவி தோற்றுவித்தாள் இலக்கனை.

பஞ்சு போல அழிந்தது படை தீ முன்!
அஞ்சிய வீரர்கள் இட்டனர் புறமுதுகு.

சிறைப்பட்டனர் சுலபன், சூலபாணி,
இறைவன் முன்கொண்டு நிறுத்தினர்!

#34k. Ilakkan

Kapilar was performing the daily abhisheka aaraadhana. When he came to know about the army of GaNan approaching the ashram he prayed to his lord, "Oh Vinyaka ! you must protect us from the army of GaNan. We have no one else to save us"

Vinayaka appeared with his two Devis. He called out for his simha vaahanam. But Siddhi Devi offered to go and fight with GaNan. Vinayaka allowed her to go the battle field. He merged in her palms.

When Sulabhan and SoolapaaNi the sons of GaNan saw a young woman all alone without any weapon in the battle field, they sneered and jeered at her. They went near her. Devi produced an army of armed soldiers in a blink of an eye.

Both the armies fought well. When Devi's army has become weak she created a mighty warrior called Lakkan. GaNa's army got destroyed like a bale of cotton in a wild fire.

Sulabhan and SoolapaaNi were arrested and taken before Vinayaka.

#34l. பஞ்ச பாணம்

"கணனின் மகன்கள் இவர்கள்" என
கணநாதரிடம் கூறினான் லக்கன்.

புறமுதுகிட்ட வீரர்கள் சென்றனர்,
அரசனிடம் கூறினர் நிலைமையை.

"இந்திராதி தேவரால் இல்லை அழிவு!
எந்தக் காரணம் கொண்டு அச்சம்?

செல்வோம் யுத்தகளத்துக்கு நாமே;
வெல்வோம் முனிவரின் படையை;

மீட்போம் இரு குமாரர்களையும்!"
கேட்டான் கணன் அறிவுரையை.

சிதறிய படையைத் திரட்டினான்;
பதறாமல் சென்றான் போர்க்களம்.

சித்தி தேவி , புத்தி தேவியர் சகிதம் அங்கு
சிங்கவாகனத்தில் கண்டான் கணபதியை1

அருகில் நின்று இருந்தார் கபில முனிவர்,
வெருட்டினான் அவரைச் சொற்களாலேயே.

"என்னைக் கொல்ல வந்தவன் இவனா?
தன்னைக் காத்துக் கொள்ளட்டும் முதலில்!

விளக்கை நாடி வந்து வீழ்ந்து மடியும்
விட்டில் போலவே வந்துள்ளான் இவன்!"

கணன் உரைத்த மொழிகளைக் கேட்டு
கணபதி உரைத்தார் இந்த மறுமொழி.

"உயிர் வாழலாம் என் உயிர்பிசையால்;
தயக்கம் இல்லை உன்னை அழிப்பதற்கு!

மறைக்கிறது உன் மதியை மமதை!
இறப்பதற்குச் சித்தம் ஆகிவிட்டாயோ?"

தொழுதால் உயிர் வாழலாம் அன்றிப்
பொருதால் உயிர் மாளலாம்" என்றதும்

பதில் வந்தது ஓர் அம்பு வடிவத்தில்,
பஞ்ச பாணங்களை எய்தான் கணன்.

#34 l. Pancha baaNam

Lakkan told Vinayaka,"These are the two sons of GaNan." The soldiers who ran away from the battle field, went to GaNan and told him that the two princes had been captured. GaNan got very worried. His ministers advised him thus:

"You are invincible O King! Why do worry or feel upset? We will go to the battle field and release the princes immediately."

GaNan liked this idea. He gathered the remaining soldiers and went to attack the army of Kapilar. He saw Vinayaka with his two Devis and sage Kapilar was standing near them. GaNan got very angry at their sight.

"So you are the one who has come to kill me! First you save yourself from me. A moth gets attracted by a lamp and goes near it only to get killed. You too have come to me only to get killed"

Vinayaka retorted, "You are blinded by your pride and ego. I can still spare your life and you may live longer- if you feel sorry for your actions. But if want a war, you shall have it and I will not hesitate to kill you."

GaNan did not reply to this but shot on Vinayaka an arrow consisting of five arrows.

#34m. முனிவரின் மணி

பஞ்ச பாணம் பிரிந்தது ஐந்தாக!
பிஞ்சு மதியணி முடி மீது ஒன்றும்,

பாதங்கள், புஜங்கள் மீது நான்கும்,
பட்டு நீராகி மறைந்தே போயின!

வேழமுகன் சினந்தான் கணன் மீது;
மழுவினை எய்தான் கணண் மீது!

அண்டங்கள் நடுங்கிக் கலங்கின!
அறுபட்டது கணன் சிரம் மழுவால்!

எஞ்சிய வீரர்கள் அஞ்சி ஓடினர்,
தஞ்சம் புகுந்தனர் அபிஜித்திடம்.

அபிஜித் ராஜன் ஆற்றாது அழுதான்,
"அபச்சரதால் வீணாயின வரங்கள்!

தவம் செய்து பெற்ற என் புதல்வனே!
தவமும், வரமும் பயனற்றுப் போயின!"

மந்திரி கிரந்தன் கூறினான் அவனிடம்,
"தண்டனை கிடைத்தது செய்த தவறுக்கு.

அளியுங்கள் மணியை முனியிடம்;
அபகீர்த்தி நீங்க வழி அது ஒன்றே!"

உணர்ந்தான் உண்மையை அபிஜித்;
மணியை அளித்தான் கபிலருக்கு.

மகன் தவறுக்கு அவன் வருந்தினான்;
மன்னிப்பு கேட்டான், மண்டி இட்டான்.

"வருந்த வேண்டாம் அபிஜித் ராஜனே!
இரு குமாரர்கள் உள்ளனர் உயிருடன்.

மன்னர்கள் ஆகி ஆட்சி புரிவர்" என்று
உன்னினார் விநாயகரை மனத்தில்.

#34m. The ChintaamaNi

The Pancha baanam split into five arrows. One of them hit the crown of Vinayaka, the other four hit his legs and arms. They all vanished like vapor without harming Vinayaka.

Now Vinayaka became very angry and threw his mazhu at GaNan. The mazhu sped so fast that there was air turbulence everywhere in the world. The mazhu separated the head from the body of GaNan.

The remaining soldiers took to their heels and went to Abhijith Rajan to convey the sad news. Abhijith was beside himself with sorrow. He wept bitter tears seeing his son's body. "Oh dear son of mine! I got you as a gift of God through my hard penance. My penance, your penance and your boons have all gone in vain."

The minister named Krandan consoled KIng Abhijit. "The one who commit a crime or does a mistake will have to get punished. Let us return the ChintaamaNi to the sage Kapilar and seek his pardon".

King Abhijith understood the truth in this wise counselling. He returned the ChintaamaNi to the sage Kapilar. He knelt down and begged for pardon for the mistakes committed by his son GaNan.

The sage was moved with mercy and told Abhijth. "All is not lost my king. The two sons of GaNan Sulaban and SoolapaaNi are still alive. They will become the new kings and rule the country wisely." The sage Kapilar concentrated on Vinayaka.

#34n. சிந்தாமணி விநாயகர்

நினைத்தும் காட்சி தந்தார் கணபதி;
மனம் நிறைந்து வணங்கினார் கபிலர்.

"தந்து விட்டீர் சிந்தாமணியை மீட்டு!
இந்திரன் எனக்குத் தந்த மணி அது.

விந்தைகளைக் காண வந்த தேவர்
நொந்தனர் அதிகப் பசி, தாகத்தால்!

ஆற்றங்கரையில் தேவரை நிறுத்தி,
ஒற்றை ஆளாக வந்தான் இந்திரன்.

"வந்த நோக்கம் என்ன கூறு!" என
இந்திரன் பதில்," உமது தரிசனம்"

உடன்பாடில்லை எனக்குச் சிறிதும்,
உண்ணாமல் அதிதிகள் திரும்புவது!

ஈசன் அருளால் உணவைப் பெற்றுப்
புசிக்கச் செய்தேன் வந்த தேவர்களை.

மனம் மகிழ்ந்தான் இந்திரன் - நான்
மனம் மகிழ அளித்தான் ஒரு பரிசு!

விஷ்ணு அளித்த சிந்தாமணியை,.
இஷ்டத்துடன் அளித்தான் எனக்கு.

பேராசையால் கவர்ந்தான் அதைக் கணன்;
ஓராசை கொண்டுள்ளேன் இன்று நான்!

அணிய வேண்டும் இந்த மணியை நீங்கள்!
பணிய வேண்டும் சிந்தாமணியுடன் நாங்கள்.

மகிழ்வுடன் பெற்றுக் கொண்டார் மணியை.
திகழ்ந்தார் மணியினை மார்பில் அணிந்து!

வரங்கள் தந்தார் கணனின் குமாரர்களுக்கு;
வணங்கினர் அனைவரும் விக்கின ராஜரை.

கபிலரின் ஆசிரமத்துக்கு வந்ததால்
கபில விநாயகர் ஆனார் கணநாதன்.

சிந்தாமணியினை அணித்து கொண்டதால்
சிந்தாமணி விநாயகர் ஆனார் கண நாதர்!

#34n. ChintaamaNi Vinayakar

Vinayaka appeared when sage Kapilar concentrated on him. Kapilar was overwhelmed with happiness at the sight of his lord. "Oh lord! You have returned my ChintaamaNi to me as you had promised. It was Indra's rare gift to me.

Once the Deva had come to earth to see the wonders on earth. They became very hungry and thirsty. Indra made all the Deva wait near the river and came to my ashram. He said he had come only for my dharshan.

I could not allow my guests to back hungry and thirsty. So I prayed to lord Siva and got the food fit for the Deva. Indra became very happy and gave a wonderful gift to make me very happy.

It was the ChintaamaNi which he had received from lord Vishnu. GaNan took it away by force. But now it is back with me. I have only one wish. I want you to wear his gem on your chest. We all wish to worship you as ChintaamaNi Vinayakar.

Vinayaka became very happy. He took the rare gem from the sage and wore it on his chest. He was worshiped as ChintaamaNi Vinayakar by all the people there. He blessed everyone. He gave boons to the two sons of GaNan, Sulaban and SoolapaaNi.

Since Vinayaka came to the ashram of Kapilar, he is also known by the name Kapila Vinayakar. Since he came with a smiling face, he is also known as Sumukhan.

Anyone who worships Vinayaka by these three names will be blessed in this world and the next.

#35a. சிந்தூரன்

பிரமன் விட்ட பெரிய கொட்டாவியிலிருந்து,
பிரமிக்க வைக்கும் அரக்கன் தோன்றினான்.

ரத்த மழை பெய்தது அவன் தோன்றியபோது!
மொத்த உயிர் இனங்களும் அஞ்சி நடுங்கின!

கண்ணைக் கவர்ந்தது அவன் சிந்தூர நிறம்!
கருத்தைக் கவர்ந்தது அவன் வீசிய மணம்!

"யார் நீ?" என்று கேட்டான் பிரம்ம தேவன்;
"பார் அறியும் உம் மகன் என்று!" என்றான்.

பிரமனுக்குப் பொங்கியது தந்தைப் பாசம்;
அரக்கனுக்குப் பெயரிட்டான் சிந்தூரன் என.

மூவுலகை வெல்லும் வலிமை தந்தான்;
தேவர்களால் அழிவின்மையும் தந்தான்.

அறிய வரம் ஒன்றும் தந்தான் அன்புடன்;
அரக்கன் தழுவியவர் ஆவார் பஸ்பமாக!

பூவுலகம் வந்து சேர்ந்தான் சிந்தூரன்;
புதிய ஐயம் வந்து உதித்தது மனதில்.

"நான் கடும் தவமும் செய்யவில்லை;
நான் அரும் வரங்கள் கேட்கவில்லை

தானாகத் தந்தார் வரங்களை பிரமன்;
நானாகச் சென்று சோதிப்பேன் இன்று!"

கேட்காமலேயே வந்து குவிந்தன வரங்கள்!
வேட்கை உண்டானது அவற்றைச் சோதிக்க!

தந்தையைத் தழுவ முயன்றான் தனயன்;
தந்தையிடமே வரங்களைச் சோதிப்பதா?

"அவசரப்பட்டு வரங்கள் தந்தேன் நான்;
தேவர்களிடம் அழிவின்மை தந்தேன்!

விநாயகமூர்த்தி அவதரிப்பார் உலகில்
வீணன் உன்னை அழிப்பதற்கு!" என்றார்.

ஓடினார் வழக்கம்போல விஷ்ணுவிடம்;
ஓதினார் நடந்தவற்றை எல்லாம் அங்கு!

#35a. Sindhooran

One day Brahma yawned heavily and an asuran was born out of the yawn. He was awesome and awe inspiring. When he was born it rained blood. All the living things got terrified for no known reason.

He was sindhoor colored and he emanated a rich pleasant aroma all around him. Brahma asked him,"Who are you?"
He replied," The whole world knows that I am your son"

Brahma's love for his newest son was kindled. He named the asuran as Sindhooran. He gave him the power to conquer the three worlds and made him invincible by the Deva. He gave one more rare boon to Sindhooran. Whosoever Sindhooran hugged tightly, would turn into ash.

Sindhooran went to the earth. He got a new doubt now. "I did not do any hard penance. In fact I did now even ask for any boons. But they were showered on me by Brahma. I wonder whether these boons will really work! I must est them now. Who else but the bestower of the boons will suit best for the testing!"

He returned to Brahma and tried to embrace him tightly. Brahma got terrified by the ungrateful son who tested this destructive boon on the giver of the boon himself.

he spoke in haste as he ran to save himself and said, "I am sorry I bestowed all those rare boons on you. You will not be conquered by the Deva. But Vinayaka will be born to put an end to you"

He ran for his life and went to Vaikuntam. He told all the happenings to Vishnu in great detail.

35b. சிந்தூரன்

"உன்னிடம் தோன்றியதால் இப்படி
முன் பின் சிந்தியாமல் வரங்களா?

துன்பம் விளையும் நமக்கே எப்போதும்;
இன்னும் இந்த உண்மை புரியவில்லை?"

பிரமனைத் துரத்தி வந்தான் சிந்தூரன்;
பிரமனுடன் கண்டான் வைகுந்தனை!

"என்னுடன் யுத்தம் புரிய வருவீர்
அன்றேல் இன்று சாம்பல் ஆவீர்!"

"போர் சாஸ்திரத்தை அறியாயோ நீ?
போர் புரிவர் சம பலம் உள்ளவர்கள்.

ஆலிலை மேல் சயனித்துள்ளேன் நான்!
அமர்ந்துள்ளான் தாமரை மேல் பிரமன்!

மென்மையான எங்களை வெல்வதால்
மேன்மை என்ன கிடைக்கும் நீயே கூறு!

வலிமை மிக்க கைலாசநாதரிடம் சென்று
வெளிப்படுத்து உன் யுத்த ஆற்றலை!" என

கைலாசம் சென்று சேர்ந்தான் சிந்தூரன்;
கைலாச நாதரோ யோக நிஷ்டையில்!

சிதறி ஓடி ஒளிந்தனர் தேவர்கள்;
பதறி ஓடினாள் பார்வதி தேவியும்.

தேவியின் அழகில் மயங்கிய அரக்கன்,
தேவியைக் கொண்டு செல்ல எண்ணிட;

சிவன் எழுந்தார் நிஷ்டை கலைந்து;
சூலம் ஏந்திய ருத்திர மூர்த்தியாக!

சிவனை அணைத்துப் பஸ்பம் ஆக்க
சினத்துடன் ஓடி வந்தான் சிந்தூரன்!.

#35b. Sindhooran

Vishnu was very displeased with Brahma. "You gave him all these boons just because he appeared from your yawn? It is always the Deva who suffer whenever the asura become very powerful. Will you ever learn this truth?"

Sindhooran came there chasing Brahma. He was happy to see Vishnu along with Brahma. He roared to them, "Come and fight with me! Otherwise I will turn you both into ash!"

Vishnu kept his cool and told him, "Don't you know the rules of war? Fighting is done by people of equal strength. I sleep on a leaf and Brahma sits on a lotus flower.

We are both soft natured . What is so great about defeating us? If you can defeat Siva that will add to your glory and fame"

Sindhooran went straight to Kailaasam. Lord Siva was in Yoga nishtai. The Deva ran in all directions, frightened by the sight of this unusual asuran.

Parvati Devi also got scared and ran away, but not before the asura had seen her beauty and fell in love with her. He went near her with an idea of abducting her.

Siva came out of his yoga nishtai. He rose angrily like Rudra moorthy with his soolam in his hand.

Sindhooran now saw Lord Siva and went running to him - wishing to turn him into ash by embracing him tightly.

#35c. யுத்தம்

அந்தணன் வடிவெடுத்தான் ஆனைமுகன்;
வந்தவனை விலக்கினான் சிவனிடமிருந்து.

"அஸ்திரங்களால் போரிடாமல் நேரிடயாகக்
குஸ்தி செய்வதாகத் தீர்மானமா?" என்றான்!

அஸ்திரப் பிரயோகம் தொடங்கி விட்டது!
அஸ்திரங்கள் பறந்தன எதிர்த் திசைகளில்

பரசுவை நட்டிருந்தான் இருவர் மத்தியில்!
பரசு தடுத்தது சிந்தூரனின் முன்னேற்றத்தை.

"வெல்லமுடியுமா உன்னால் காலகாலரை?
செல்வாய் எனில் உயிர் பிழைப்பாய்!" என,

வெற்றி தோல்வி இல்லாத வெற்றுப் போரால்,
வெறுப்படைந்த சிந்தூரன் திரும்பிவிட்டான்.

அந்தணன் யாரென்று அறியவில்லை உமை;
அந்தண வேடத்தை விடுத்தார் விநாயகர்.

சிங்க வாஹனத்தில் சதுர் புஜங்களுடன்,
சித்தி புத்தி தேவியருடன் காட்சி தந்தார்.

"உம்மைப் பிடிக்க வந்தான் சிந்தூரன்.
உம்மிடம் பிறந்து அவனை அழிப்பேன்"

அன்னையிடம் அளித்தான் உறுதிமொழி
ஆனைமுகன் மறைதருளும் முன்னர்.

பூவுலகத்தில் நடந்தது சிந்தூரன் ஆட்சி.
யாவரும் அஞ்சி நடுங்கினர் அவனிடம்.

சிந்தூரனிடம் துயருற்ற தேவர்கள் குழூ
ஐங்கரனைப் பணிந்தனர் அபயம் என்று

சிந்தூரனை அழித்து அபயம் தருவதற்கு
ஐங்கரன் அடைந்தான் தேவியின் கருவை.

பரியலி வனத்தில் குளிர்ந்த சோலையில்
பரிமளித்தது ஒரு இரத்தின மண்டபம்

தோழியருடன் தங்கினாள் மண்டபத்தில்
அழகிய பரியலி வனத்தில் பார்வதிதேவி.

#35c. The war

Vinayaka transformed himself into a Brahmin. He separated Sindhooran from lord Siva. "You may fight with your weapons instead of this fist fight!" He told both of them and planted his parasu in between them.

Arrows went flying in the opposite directions. Sindoorans' advance was checked by the parasu. The fight went for a long time with neither of them winning nor losing.

The brahmin told Sindhooran, "You can never defeat Siva the Kaala kaalan. If you go back home, you may stay alive a little longer" Sindhooran got tired of this mock fight and went back.

No one knew who that Brahmin was. Vinayaka revealed himself and gave dharshan to Siva and Parvthi on his lion vaahanam, with his two devis. He told Parvathi, "Sindhooran wanted to abduct you. I will be born to you to kill him"

Sindhooran ruled highhandedly. He troubled everyone, the Deva, the manava and the asura. The Deva prayed to Vinayaka for Abhayam. Vinayaka reached the garbbam of Parvathi Devi.

A gem studded mandapam was built in the Pariyali Vanam, in a cool garden, for the sake of Parvathi Devi. She lived there happily with her friends and attendants.

#35d. மயேச்சுதன்

மயேச்சுதன் ஒரு சிறந்த சிவபக்தன்.
மன்னன் அவன் தொழுதான் சிவனை,

இடைவிடாது தொடர்ந்து தினமும்!
கிடைத்தன அஷ்ட ஐஸ்வர்யங்கள்!

தேடி வந்தார் தேவ குரு பிருஹஸ்பதி;
ஓடி வந்து வரவேற்றான் மயேச்சுதன்.

"கேள்விப்பட்டேன் உன் பெருமைகளை
கேட்டது கொஞ்சம்; கேளாதது அதிகம்!

என்னை வணங்கினாய் உள்ளன்புடன்;
உன்னை வணங்குவர் இனி அனைவரும்!"

"என்று நடக்கும் சுவாமி அது போல?"
என்று கேட்டான் மன்னன் ஆவலுடன்.

"யானையிடம் நீ தோன்றும் பொழுது
அனைவரும் தொழுவர்; முக்தி கிட்டும்!"

தேச சஞ்சாரம் செய்தான் மயேச்சுதன்;
தேவரிஷியை உபசரிக்கவில்லை சரிவர!

'யானை போல் கண்மண் தெரியாதவனை'
யானையாகப் பிறக்கும்படி சபித்துவிட்டார்.

"சிவன் கையால் வதம் செய்யப்படுவாய்!
சிவன் கையால் நீ முக்தியும் அடைவாய்"

கரிகளின் கூட்டத்தில் கஜமுக அசுரனாக
பரியலி வனத்தில் வந்து பிறந்தான் அவன்.

பூர்வ ஜன்ம நினைவுகள் மாறவில்லை
ஆர்வம் மேலிட்டது சிவனைக் கண்டிட.

"பரியலி வனத்தில் பார்வதி தேவியார்
பரமசிவனுடன் தங்கி இருக்கின்றார்!" என

யோகத்தில் அமர்ந்திருந்தார் பரமசிவன்;
சோலையில் உலவினாள் பார்வதி தேவி.

ரத்தின மண்டபத்தை முட்டித் தள்ளினான்,
மொத்தமாகப் பெயர்த்துவிட்டான் கஜமுகன்!

#35d. Mayechchudan

King Mayechchudan was a sincere devotee of Lord Siva. He prayed to Lord Siva regularly with bhakti and was blessed with all the eight riches of the world.

Bruhaspati visited him one day. The king Mayechchudan was very excited by his visit. He came running and welcomed the Devaguru with deep reverence.

Bruhaspati blessed Mayechchudan, " You prostrated to me. In the same way the whole world will prostrate to you too!"
The king was both happy and curious and wanted to know when all these things would happen.

The Devaguru said, "When you will be born as an elephant all these things will happen"

Mayechchudan went on desa sanchaaram. He was preoccupied and failed to welcome Narada with the usual fervor. Narada felt hurt by this negligence, oversight and indifference.

He cursed Mayechchudan,"You behaved like an elephant which does not see much. May you be born as an elephant. You will get killed by Siva and attain liberation in his hands "

Mayechchudan was born as an elephant in the Pariyali Vanam. His name was Gajamukan. He remembered his past very well. His bhakti towards Siva remained undiminished.

He was eagerly waiting for his encounter with Lord Siva. He heard that Siva and Parvathi Devi were staying in the same Pariyali vanam. He went out to meet Lord Siva.

Siva was in yoga nishatai and Parvathi was strolling in the garden. Gajamuka asuran uprooted the the gem studded mandapam made for Parvathi and made it tumble on the ground.
