#9a. The miraculous cure

Kind Beeman ruled over Koundinya city in Vidharppa desam. Chaaruhaasini was his pretty queen but they were not blessed with any children. They did many charitable work but their desire for a child remained unfulfilled.

They decided to go to the forest and lead vaanaprastha. It would give them a good life in the next janma. They entrusted the kingdom to two wise ministers Sumanthu and Manoranjitham.

In the forest, they ate fruits and roamed around . They saw a beautiful garden. Birds were seen in thousands. Cows and deers graced together. Even the wild animals seen there did not trouble the other animals.

There must be truly great mahaan behind this saatvic behavior. They found out that sage Viswaamitra lived in the nearly aashram.

They thought it was their good fortune that they got an opportunity to pay respect to the great mahaan

They reached his ashram and prostrated to the sage. He blessed them saying,"May you be blessed with a worthy son!"

The king and queen became very happy and prostrated again to the rushi.
 
#9b. பிணி தீர்ந்தது

பெருகியது ஆனந்தக் கண்ணீர் மாலை!
உருகியது நெஞ்சம் முனிவர் ஆசியால்!

உரைத்தான் தன் கதையை வீமராஜன்,
"உரைப்பீர் இதன் காரண காரியம்!"என;

"விநாயகரைத் தொழுதனர் முன்னோர்கள்;
விரும்பிய மனைவியின் காதல் மிகுதியால்

மறந்து விட்டாய் தெய்வ ஆராதனனையை.
துறந்துவிட்டாய் விக்னேஸ்வர பூசையினை.

முன்னோர்கள் பெற்ற நன்மைகள் போலவே
உன்னாலும் முயன்று பெற முடியும் மன்னா!"

முனிவர் கூறலுற்றார் மன்னன் வீமனின்
முன்னோர்களின் கதையினை விவரமாக.

வல்லவ ராஜன் கர்நாடக தேசத்தை
நல்ல முறையில் ஆண்டுவந்தான்.

பிறந்த மகனால் குலைந்தது அமைதி
குருடு, செவிடு, ஊமையாக இருந்தான்!

உடல் முழுவதும் இருந்தன ரணங்கள்;
இடர் தந்தன வழிந்த சீழும் ரத்தமும்.

கவலை பெருகியது குழந்தையால் - அரசி
கமலை தளர்ந்தாள் மனம் துவண்டதால்.

தக்கன் என்று பெயரினை இட்டன.ர்
தக்க வைத்தியமும் செய்து வந்தனர்.

ஆண்டுகள் பன்னிரண்டு சென்றாலும்
ஆறவில்லை ரணங்கள் சிறிதளவேனும்

வல்லவராஜன் இழந்தான் பொறுமையை;
சொல்வான்,"கானகம் சென்று விடுங்கள்"

அஞ்சினாள்; கெஞ்சினாள்; அரசி கமலை
கொஞ்சமும் மாறவில்லை அரசனின் உறுதி.

மகனுடன் வெளியேறினாள் கமலை - இனி
பகவானே துணை அவ்விருவருக்கும் என.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.
 
#9b. The miraculous cure

The King and the queen were shedding tears of joy moved by the sage's blessings. Beema rajan told his life story and requested the rushi to find out the cause of his misery.

The sage Viswaamitra replied,"All your ancestors were true devotees of Vinayaka. You loved your queen so much that you neglected the puja and aaraadhanaa of Vinaayaka.

That is the real cause of your misery. There is still hope. You can his blessing by resuming the puja"

Then he related the story of the ancestors of Beemarajan in great detail.

Vallava Rajan ruled over the city Palli in Karnataka. He was very happy until he got a son who was deaf, dumb and blind. He had bleeding wounds all over his body which could not be cured at all.

The queen Kamala also became disheartened by the futile attempts to cure the incurable diseases of the prince - whom they had named as Dakshan.

Twelve years rolled by and there was not any improvement in the condition of the prince Dakshan. King Vallava rajan lost his patience and ordered his queen to go to the forest with her incurable son.

The queen was in tears of helplessness. What would she do with a twelve year old boy who was thus handicapped in the wilderness? But the king turned a deaf ear to her.

So the queen left the city and went to the forest with her blind, deaf, dumb and bleeding son praying to god for help.





 
#9c. பிணி நீங்கியது

கானகத்தில் வந்து சூழ்ந்தனர் கள்வர்;
ஆனால் கொல்லவில்லை இருவரையும்.

எட்டியே சென்றுவிட்டது அரச வாழ்வு!
கட்டிய துணியுடன் திரிந்தனர் காட்டில்.

உடல் மெலிந்தனர் உண்ண உணவின்றி;
அடைந்தனர் பின் குண்டினபுர நகரத்தை.

ஊருக்கு வெளிய உள்ள கோவிலில் தன்
ஊமை மகனை விட்டுச் செல்வாள் கமலை.

பிச்சை எடுத்துக் கிடைத்த உணவை உண்டு
அச்சிறுவனுடன் உயிர் வாழ்ந்தாள் கமலை.

முத்கல முனிவர் அருகே வசித்து வந்தார்.
வித்தக விநாயகனின் அருளைப் பெற்றவர்.

தக்கனும் கமலையும் தெருவில் சென்றிட
முத்கல முனிவர் எதிர்ப்பட்டார் ஒருநாள்.

முனிவரைத் தொட்ட காற்று வீசியது;
கனிவுடன் பட்டது தக்கன் உடல் மேல்!

வியத்தகு மாற்றங்கள் விளைந்தன அங்கே
வியனுலகு எங்குமே கண்டிராத வண்ணம்!

பார்வை கிடைத்துவிட, தக்கன் பார்த்தான்;
செவிப்புலன் கிடைக்க, அவன் கேட்டான்

பேசும் திறன் வரவே, அவன் பேசினான்.
வீசியது மேனி எழில்; ரணம் மறைந்தது!

மன்மதனைப் பழிக்கும் அழகன் ஆனான்!
அன்னையின் மகிழ்ச்சிக்கு அளவில்லை.

"குணப்படுத்துவதற்கென்றே எம் இறைவா!
பிணங்கச் செய்தாயா எம்மிடம் அரசனை?"

வாரி அணைத்து உச்சி முகர்ந்து தக்கனை
வாயார "அம்மா!" என்றழைக்கச் சொன்னாள்.

#9c. The miraculous cure

A group of thieves surrounded them in the jungle but they took pity and did not kill the blind boy and his mother. Kamala could not console herself to her present situation. She was living in a palace as the queen and now she is roaming the forest with not even a change of dress.

They became lean due to lack of good food. They reached a city called Kundinapuram. There was a temple in the outskirts of the city. Kamala would leave the blind boy in the temple and go and beg for food. They shared the food and kept their body and soul together.

Mudgala rushi was living nearby. He had the pari poorna krupa kataaksham of Vigneswar. One day Kamala took her son also along with her. Mudgala rushi was walking down the street. When they crossed on the road a miracle happened. The breeze which touched the sage touched Dakshan and the events that followed can only be imagined by us.

The blind boy got his vision. He could see very well now. He got his power of speech and he could speak very well now. He got the power of hearing and he could hear very well. All his bleeding wounds disappeared and he became as god looking as Manmathan himself.

Kamala could not contain her happiness. She cried,"Oh God! did you make us come here to get cured? Did you make the king order us out of the palace only to see this happy day?

She told her son to call her as mother several times which sent her into raptures.


 
#9d . பிணி நீங்கியது

மன்மதனைப் போல் மாறியவனைக் கண்டு
இன்ப அதிர்ச்சி அடைந்தனர் நகர மக்கள்.

ஆடை ஆபரணங்களை அள்ளித் தந்தனர்;
சோடை போகவில்லை அவர்கள் வாழ்வு.

வேதியர் ஒருவர் எதிர்ப்பட்டார் வீதியில்!
பாதம் பணிந்தனர் கமலையும், தக்கனும்.

ஆசிகள் வழங்கினார் அவ் வேதியர்- உப
தேசித்தார் ஷடாக்ஷர மந்திரத்தையும்.

ஆனைமுகனை மனத்தில் நிறுத்தினான்;
ஏனைய நினைவலைகளை நிறுத்தினான்.

விக்னராஜன் தரிசனம் தந்தார் அவனுக்கு
முத்கல முனிவரின் வடிவினை எடுத்து.

"வேண்டியதை கேள்!" என்று வரம் தர
வேழமுக வேந்தனிடம் சிறுவன் தக்கன்

வேண்டினான் சகல சௌபாக்கியத்தை,
வேறுபாடு இன்றித் தன் மக்களுக்கு.

ஆனைமுகனாகவே தோன்றினார் பின்.
அன்புடன் அவர் வழுத்தினார் தக்கனை

"முத்கல முனிவர் முழு அருள் பெற்றவர்.
அற்புதம் நிகழ்ந்து நீ குணம் அடைந்தாய்

குறை என்பதே இல்லை இனி உனக்கு
நிறைவேறும் உன்தேவைகள் அவரால்."

தக்கன் சென்றான் முத்கலரைத் தேடியே.
தன் கண்ணீரால் கழுவினான் கால்களை!

தன் கதையினை உரைத்தான் தக்கன்
தனக்கு வினாயகர் காட்சி தந்ததுவரை.

"நீயே என்னிலும் பாக்கியசாலி மகனே!
நாயேனுக்குக் கிட்டவில்லையே தரிசனம்!

அவன் அருள்தரும் உனக்கு இன்பம்;
ஆதவன் முன் பனியாகும் உன் துன்பம்."

ஏகாக்ஷர மந்திரத்தை உபதேசித்தார்
ஏங்கித் தேடிய தாயுடன் திரும்பினான்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

 
#9d. The miraculous cure.

The people of Kundinapuram got a pleasant shock from these events. They developed a new affection to the boy and offered him and his mother clothes and ornaments. They got enough food to eat. Their life improved after the miraculous cure.

One day they met a Brahmin on the road. They paid obeisance to the man and got his blessings. He did upadesam of the shataakshara mantra to Dakshan.

The boy established Vigneswar in is mind and stopped all the other thoughts until Vigneswar appeared to him as Mudgala rushi. He was offered any boon and he chose to ask ashta aiswaryam for all the folks.

Now Vigneswar appeared as himself and blessed Dakshan. "You will get all your desires fulfilled by the rushi's grace."

Dakshan went looking for the sage Mudgala. He fell on his feet and washed it with his tears. He related to the rushi his story right up to Vigneswara's dharshan and sought his blessing.

The rushi was thrilled to hear that Dakshan actually had the dharshan of lord Vigneswar which he himself had not seen till that day. He taught the boy Ekaaksharam and blessed him.

Kamala got worried that her son was not to be seen anywhere. She guessed that he must have gone to the sage Mudgala. She too came there looking for him. They went back with the rushi's blessings.

#10a. வல்லாளன்

சிந்து தேசத்தில் ஒரு வைசியன் கல்யாண்;
இந்துமதி அவன் அழகிய இளம் மனைவி.

இல்லறம் இனிக்கத் தோன்றினான் மகன்
வல்லாளன் என்னும் துறு துறு பாலகன்.

சீரும், சிறப்புமாக வளர்ந்தவனுக்கு ஊர்
சிறார்கள் அனைவரும் நல்ல நண்பர்கள்.

விளையாடுவர் ஒரு தோப்பில் வந்து கூடி,
விளையாட்டும் விநாயகர் ஆராதனையே.

பாறை ஒன்று கிடந்தது அந்தத் தோப்பில்,
பாறையில் கண்டனர் விநாயகர் வடிவை.

பாறையே ஆனது விநாயகர் சிலையாக!
பாறைக்கு நடந்தது பூஜைகள், ஆராதனை!

நன்னீ ராட்டினர்; பூ மாலைகள் சூட்டினர்.
நிவேதனம் செய்து, பாமாலை சூட்டினர்.

ஆராதனை அளவு கடந்தது ஒரு நாள்;
அமைத்தனர் ஓலைப் பந்தல் ஒன்றை.

தோரணம் கட்டித் தூய்மை செய்தனர்;
வாரணமுகனுக்கு ஆராதனை, பூஜை!

இடம், பொருள், ஏவல்களை மறந்தனர்!
இல்லம் செல்லவில்லை உணவருந்த!

"உணவு உண்ணாமல் என்ன விளையாட்டு?
உறவையே மறந்து விடுவரோ சிறுவர்கள்?"

கோபம் தலைக்கேறியது பெற்றோர்களுக்கு!
கோபத்துடன் கூச்சலிட்டனர் கல்யாணிடம்!

"ஊரார் பகை வந்ததே இந்தச் சிறுவனால்;
உருப்படாத அவனை ஒருகை பார்ப்பேன்!"

தடியை உருவி ருத்திரன் ஆகிவிட்டான்;
அடி வாங்க விரும்பவில்லை சிறார்கள்.

சிட்டெனப் பறந்து ஓடி மறைந்தனர்;
திட்டு வாங்க நின்றவன் வல்லாளன்!

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.
 
#10a . VallaaLan

Kalyaan was a Vaisyan living in Sindhu Desh. His pretty wife was Indhumathi. They were blessed with a very smart son whom they named as VallaaLan. The boy was extremely pious and friendly. So the whole village loved him and all the children were his friends.

They used to meet and play in a garden. The play itself was the pooja of Vinayaka. There was a stone in which they could imagine the figure of Vinayaka. So they made it their vigraha. They did abhishekham, aaraadhanai and pooja. They offered Nivedhanam, flower garlands and sang Vinayaka's praise.

One day they forgot themselves in their play. They cleaned the place, decorated it with thoraN. They did abhishekham, pooja and spent the whole day there. None of them went home to eat lunch. The parents of all the children got anxious and worried. They went to Kalyan's house and shouted that his son was ruining their sons.

Kalyan became very angry. He fumed and fretted that because of the irresponsible behavior of his son, his own name was drawn in the mud.

He took a big stick and was determined to teach his son a fine lesson. When the boys saw him approach like Rudra himself with the stick, they all ran away leaving VallaaLan all alone to face his angry father.

 
#10b. வல்லாளன்

"நீயும் கெட்டுக் கெடுக்கின்றாய் பிறரையும்!
தாயும், நானும் தலை குனிந்தோம் இன்று.

ஊர்ப்பகைத் தேடி வந்து சேர்ந்தது பார்!
யார் யார் வாயில் விழுந்தோம் என்று !"

தலை மயிரைப் பற்றி உலுக்கினான்; மகன்
பொலபொலவென்று கண்ணீர் விடும்படி

ஓங்கி அறைந்தான் அவன் கன்னத்தில்!
அங்கு கண்ட காட்சியால் சினம் கூடியது!

"திருவிழாக் கொண்டாடினோம் அப்பா!"
"திருவிழா ஒரு கேடா உங்களுக்கு?" என்று

தோரணங்களைப் பிடுங்கி வீசி எறிந்தான்!
வாரணப் பாறையை வயலில் வீசினான்.

துடி துடித்துப் போனான் மகன் வல்லாளன்,
"எடுத்து வாருங்கள் வாரணப் பாறையை!

தெய்வ நிந்தனை செய்வது தவறு!" என
"தெய்வம் வந்து உதவுகிறதா பார்ப்போம்!"

விளாசினான் கல்யாண் தன் கைத்தடியால்;
விம்மி அழும் மகனைக் கட்டினான் மரத்தில்.

விடு விடு என்று வீடு நோக்கிச் சென்றான்.
"வினாயகரை எண்ணி அழுதான் சிறுவன்;

உடல் முழுவதும் ரணங்கள் ரத்தம் வழிய,
உதவி செய்வதற்கு யாரும் இல்லாமல்!

தன்னை அடித்தது கூடத் துயர் தரவில்லை
தன் இறைவனை வீசி எறிந்து விட்டாரே!

"தெய்வத்தைப் பழித்தோர் வாழ்ந்ததில்லை!
தெய்வம் தரும் தண்டனை குற்றங்களுக்கு!

அன்றே கொல்வான் அரசன் ஆயினும்
நின்று கொல்லும் அன்றோ தெய்வம்?"

கட்டுப்பட்ட நிலையிலேயே நின்று அவன்
கண்ணீர் விட்டு அழுதான் கடவுளுக்காக!

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி
 
#10b. VallaaLan.

"You are ruining all the other children! I and your mother were put to shame by your behavior. The whole village is against us now - all because of your irresponsible behavior."

Kalyan scolded his son and shook him by his hair. He slapped the boy so hard that tears flowed freely from his son's eyes. The decorations and thoraN made him more angry than before. The boy spoke while crying, "We celebrated a special puja today !"

Kalyan cursed the boy and threw away the stone which was his Ganesh vigraham. He pulled off the thoran and ruined the whole place.

Vallaalan cried and prayed him to put back the vigraham. Kalyan was mad with anger. He said, "Let us see whether your god comes to your help now!"

He beat his son black and blue and tied him up to a tree. He returned home leaving the boy hurt, bleeding and crying for help tied to a tree.

Vallalan did not feel sad for getting beaten but that his god and puja were ridiculed and ruined made him more hurt and angry. He said to himself that whoever insults God must get punished for his wrong behavior. He shed bitter tears of sorrow for his god more than for himself.

#10c. வல்லாளன்

"உயிர் வாழ்வதில் பயன் இல்லை இனிமேல்.
உயிரை விட்டுவிடுகின்றேன் நான் இன்றே!"

மூச்சை அடக்கி முரட்டுத்தனமாக நின்றவன்
முன்னே தோன்றினான் ஓர் அழகிய சிறுவன்.

கட்டுக்கள் கழன்று விழுந்தன தாமாகவே!
கொட்டிய ரத்தம் நின்று ரணம் மறைந்தது!

அழகிய சிறுவன் பழகிய வேழமுகன் தான்!
தொழுதான் ஓடிச்சென்று விழுந்தான் காலில்.

"உன் பக்தியை மெச்சினேன் வல்லாளா!
என்னை அவமதித்தவர் அடைவர் தண்டனை!

உனக்கு என்ன வரம் வேண்டும் கேள்!" என;
வினயத்துடன் வேண்டினான் அச் சிறுவன்.

"கல் ஒன்றில் உம்மை வணங்கினோம் - அக்
கல்லில் நீர் என்றும் குடியிருக்க வேண்டும்!"

வீராவேசமாக வீட்டுக்குச் சென்ற கல்யாண்
விரைவில் இழந்தான் கட்புலன், செவிப்புலன்.

வாய் பேசாமல் ஆனது வழி நடக்கையில்!
நோய் பரவியது அவன் உடல் முழுவதும்.

"மகன் என்ன கதியில் வருவனோ?" என்று
திகிலுடன் காத்திருந்தாள் தாய் இந்துமதி.

இந்த நிலையில் கல்யாணைக் கண்டதும்
நொந்து நூலாகிவிட்டாள் மனைவி இந்துமதி.

"ஆத்திரக்காரனுக்கு புத்தி மட்டு என்பதால்
ஆண்டவன் தந்தானோ இந்த தண்டனையை?"

மகனுக்காகக் கண்ணீர் விடுவாளா அல்லது
மகனைப் பகைத்துக் கொண்டவனுக்காகவா?

#10c. VallaaLan

"There is no point in remaining alive any more!" Vallalan decided to give up his life and held his breath completely. A very beautiful and young boy appeared in front of him.

All the knots tying VallaaLan to the tree came off loose and he was free to move! He knew that the boy cold be none other than Vigneswara himself. He ran to the boy and flung himself at his feet.

The boy (Vinayaka) spoke to him, "Do not worry VallaaLan! The wrong doer will get his due punishment! I am very happy with your bhakti. Tell me what you want!"

VallaaLan said, "We have felt your presence in that stone all along. You must reside in it all the time and make it your vigraha. " Vigneswar agreed to this request and disappeared.

Kalyan marched homewards in terrible anger. But on the way he suddenly became blind, deaf and dumb. Wounds appeared all over his body and started bleeding. He reached his home with great difficulty.

Indhumati was worrying about the sad plight of her son. Now she was completely shocked to see her husband's plight. What had happened to her son? What has happened to her husband? She did not know what to do?
 
#10d. வல்லாளன்

"மகன் கதி என்ன ஆயிற்றோ?" என்று
மகனைத் தேடி ஓடினாள் தோப்புக்கு.

மற்ற பெண்களும் ஓடினர் தொடர்ந்து
குற்ற உணர்ச்சி வாட்டி வதைத்ததால்.

வாரணக் கடவுளின் பாறை நின்றது
சீராகச் சாத்திய பூ மாலைகளுடன்!

எப்படி மறைந்தன அடிபட்ட ரணங்கள்?
எங்கும் ரத்தச் சுவடு கூட இல்லையே!

கட்டி அணைத்துக் கண்ணீர் விட்டாள்
கட்டிய கணவனுக்கும் பெற்ற மகனுக்கும்.

"தவறான பாதையில் செல்லும் மகனை
தவறாகுமோ ஒரு தகப்பன் கண்டிப்பது?

சிறிய பிழைக்கு பெரிய தண்டனையா?
சிறுவன் உன்னால் இதை மாற்ற முடியும்!

உன் தந்தையின் துயர்களைத் துடைக்க
உன்னால் மட்டுமே முடியும் மகனே!"

"தாயும் தந்தையும் ஆவார் இறைவனே!
மாயையே மற்ற உறவுகள் அனைத்தும்.

அபச்சாரம் அளித்தது கொடிய தண்டனை!
அடுத்த பிறவியிலும் தொடரும் தண்டனை!

கமலையாகப் பிறந்து வல்லவராஜனின்
கர்நாடக அரசனின் ராணி ஆகிவிடுவாய்.

தவறு இழைத்த தந்தை உன் மகன் ஆகித்
தவிப்பார் முப்பெரும் உடற்குறைகளால்.

கானகம் ஏகுவீர்! கடுந்துயர் அடைவீர்!!
கணக்குத் தீர்ந்ததும் நிலைமை மாறும்.

முத்கல முனிவரின் அருளால் மாறி விடும்
மூவகைக் குறைகளும் உடல் ரணங்களும்"

தாய் அழைத்தும் செல்லவில்லை இல்லம்;
தாய் அனைய விநாயகர் தந்தார் விமானம்.

பொன் விமானத்தில் ஏறி கண நாதனிடம்
சென்றான் குழந்தை வல்லாளப் பெருமான்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.
 
#10d. VallaaLan

"What is the condition of my son?" Indumati ran to the garden to find out. All the other women followed her - since they were troubled by the pangs of their conscience.

The stone which was the vigraha of Vigneswara was back in it place with all the flower garlands as before. There was no wound or blood on the body of the boy. He appeared more beautiful than before.

Indumati hugged him and shed copious tears. She told her son,"Your father was trying to correct your irresponsible behavior. Every father does it and it is not wrong. Should he be so severely punished for this ? You can talk to your God and reduce the severity of the punishment of your father. Only you can do it son!"

The boy replied,"God is the father and mother for every one of us. All the other relationships are not real. They are effects of Maya. He got punished for his abachaaram. The punishment will continue in his next birth also. You will be born as Kamala and marry Vallavarajan, the king of Karnataka to become his queen.

My father will be born as your son Dakshan with three major defects and bleeding wounds all over his body. You will be banished to the forest. You will suffer a lot. When the effects of his evil deeds get exhausted, things will change to the better. He will get cured by the grace of Mudgala rushi."

VallaaLan refused to go home with his mother Indumati. Later he was sent a vimaanam by Ganapthy. He was escorted to Lord Ganesa by his attendants.
 
#11a. அரசு பரிசு!

முத்கல முனிவர் ஆசியுடன் சென்றனர்
தக்கனும் கமலையும் கௌண்டின்யபுரம்;

நந்தவனம் ஒன்று தென்பட்டது அழகாக;
தந்தியின் ஆலயம் தடாகத்தின் கரையில்;

தகுந்த இடம் இதுவே என்று உணர்ந்தான்;
மிகுந்த பக்தியுடன் ஏகாக்ஷரம் ஜபித்தான்.

உருண்டு ஓடின பன்னிரண்டு ஆண்டுகள்!
இருபது நாள் ஆலயத்தில் கணேச பூஜை!

அருமையான கனவு ஒன்று தோன்றியது,
இருபத்தி ஓராம் நாள் பக்தன் தக்கனுக்கு.

ரத்தினங்களும், பட்டாடையும் அணிந்து
உத்தம யானை ஒன்று நடந்தது வீதியில்!

உயரத் தூக்கிய அதன் துதிக்கையில்
ஊஞ்சலாடியது அழகிய மலர் மாலை!

மந்திரிகள், பிரதானிகள், பின்தொடர
விந்தை புரிந்தது கனவில் வந்த யானை;

நேராகத் தயங்காமல் அவன் அருகே வந்தது
சீராக மாலையை தக்கனுக்கு அணிவித்தது!

கனவில் எழுந்த கரவொலி ஓசையில்
கனவு கலைந்து எழுந்தான் தக்கன்.

நனவு போலவே தோன்றியது கனவா?
நம்பவே முடியவில்லை அது கனவு என.

கமலையிடம் தன் கனவினைக் கூறக்
"கவலை தீரும் நேரம் வந்தது கண்ணே!

பொய்க்காது விநாயகரின் அருள் வாக்கு
மெய்யன்போடு துதிப்பவர்களுக்கு" என்றாள்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி
 
#11a. The gift of kingdom

Kamala and Dakshan went to Koundinya puram with the the blessings of Mudgala rushi. They saw a serene and peaceful garden. On the bank of the pond in it was a temple dedicated to Lord Ganesa. Dakshan felt that it was the right spot to do his penance.

He started chanting ekaaksharam with full devotion. Twelve years rolled by. He performed pooja in the temple for another twenty days. On the twenty first day he had a wonderful dream.

A huge elephant decorated in silk and gem studded ornaments was walking down the street. It held high a beautiful flower garland in it trunk. It was followed by the ministers and other important persons.

It walked straight to Dakshan and put the garland around his neck. Everyone following the elephant applauded. The noise of the applause woke him up and Dakshan could not believe that it was just a dream. It looked and felt so real!

He woke up his mother and told her of his strange dream. She was happy and told him, "You are going to get the gift of kingdom. Vinayaka's blessings will never fail for one who is sincerely devoted to him"
 
#11b. அரசு பரிசு!

சந்திரசேனன் கௌண்டிண்யபுர அரசன்.
சந்ததி இல்லாமல் இறந்தான் அரசன்

அரசன் இலா நாடு கணவன் இலா வீடு!
அரசுக் கட்டில் ஏற ஒரு வாரிசு தேவை.

ஈமக் கடன்களை முடித்த அமைச்சர்கள்
தாமதமின்றிச் சென்றனர் அரசியிடம்,

"துக்கத்தில் ஆழ்ந்துள்ளீர்கள் தாயே!
துக்கத்தில் பங்கு கொள்கிறது நாடு!

அரசனின் வாரிசைத் தேர்வு செய்ய
அரசியின் அனுமதி வேண்டும்!" என

"நீங்கள் அறியாததை நான் அறிவேனா?
நீங்களே செய்யுங்கள் சாத்திரப்படி!" என,

"பட்டத்து யானையை அலங்கரிப்போம்
திட்டப்படி மாலையை அளித்திடுவோம்!

அரசுப் பதவிக்கு தகுந்தவனைத் தேடி
அரசனின் யானை பூ மாலை இடும்"

கணித்தனர் நல்ல நாளும், பொழுதும்.
பணித்தனர் பட்டத்து யானையிடம்,

"ஊர் முழுவதும் சென்று நீ தேடுவாய்!
யார் புது அரசனோ மாலை போடுவாய்!"

ஊர் மக்கள் அனைவரும் அன்று வீதியில்
"யார் அதிர்ஷ்டசாலி?" அறிய வேண்டுமே!

யாரையும் ஏறிட்டுப் பார்க்கவில்லை!
நேராகச் சென்றது விநாயகர் ஆலயம்.

தக்கனைக் கண்டதுமே நெருங்கியது
மிக்க ஆதரவுடன் இட்டது மாலையை.

மண்டியிட்டுப் பிளிறி மகிழ்ந்தது யானை
மண்ணை ஆள மகாராஜன் கிடைத்ததால்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி
 
#11b. The gift of kingdom

Chandrasenan was the king of Koundinya puram. He had no heir to rule the kingdom after him. He had died on that day. A nation must have a ruler. After the cremation and rituals, the ministers went and met the queen. They sought her permission to find a new king.

When she gave her consent, the king's royal elephant was entrusted with the task of finding the new king to the country. The elephant was decorated in silks and with precious ornaments.

An auspicious day and time were selected. A flower garland was given to the elephant. It had to locate a person who would be crowned the new king.

The whole population was on the road - wishing to know whom the elephant would select. The royal elephant did not stop to look at any one. It marched straight to the temple of Vinayaka.

The moment it saw Dakshan, it put the garland around his neck, bowed before him and trumpeted triumphantly. It appeared to be happy that its mission was competed successfully.
 
#11 அரசு பரிசு!

அமைச்சர்களும் வணங்கினர் பணிந்து;
"எமை கௌரவித்துப் பதவி ஏற்பீர்!" எனத்

தாயும் மகனும் அமர்ந்தனர் யானை மேல்!
பாயும் மகிழ்ச்சி வெள்ளம் தந்தது உற்சாகம்!

ஆரத்தி சுற்றிக் குதூகலித்தனர் நகர மக்கள்;
வரைந்தனர் வண்ணக் கோலங்கள் மகளிர்.

அரசி காத்திருந்தாள் அரண்மனை வாயிலில்.
அரசியைப் பணிந்தனர் தக்கனும், கமலையும்.

முடிவு செய்யப்பட்டது முடிசூட்டு வைபவம்;
முத்கல முனிவரை மறக்கவில்லை தக்கன்.

பல்லக்குச் சென்றது பரிவாரங்களுடன்;
பத்திரமாக முத்கலரை அழைத்துவர!

பூர்ண கும்பங்களுடன் எதிர் கொண்டான்
ஆர்வத்துடன் தொழுதான் அவரை தக்கன்.

"ஏகாக்ஷர மந்திரத்தை உபதேசம் செய்தீர்!
ஏகாக்ர சிந்தையுடன் உருவேற்றி வந்தேன்.

இத்தனை பெரிய பாக்கியத்தின் காரணம்
உத்தம முனிவர் ஆகிய தாங்களே!" என;

நல்ல நேரத்தில் மணி முடி சூட்டினார்
நலம் விரும்பும் நல்ல முத்கல முனிவர்

கோலாகலம் பொங்கியது நாடெங்கும்
குதூகலித்தனர் கௌண்டின்யபுர மக்கள்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி
 
# 11 c. The gift of kingdom.

The ministers and courtiers knelt down to Dakshan and requested him to assume office as their new king immediately. Dakshan and Kamala sat on the royal elephant and went to the palace.

The citizens did aarthi to them all along the way. Women decorated the streets with beautiful and colorful floral designs.

The queen was waiting outside the palace to receive them. Dakshan and Kamala paid obeisance to the queen. The time of coronation was fixed immediately.

Dakshan did not forget his well wisher - Mudhgala sage. He sent a palanquin with some soldiers to escort the sage safely to the palace.

He received the sage Mudhgala with poorna kumbham and paid his respects. He told with deep gratitude to the sage, "Sire! you taught me the ekaaksharam and I did japam as advised by you. This gift of kingdom is the fruit of your blessings and guidance."

Mudhgala rushi crowned Dakshan at the auspicious hour as planned. The whole country celebrated the arrival of their young new king.
