12#4. Gayatree Hrydayam

By knowing the GAyatree Hrudaya, a man can become a Deva. The Rishi of this is NArAyaNA. The Chhandas is GAyatree; and GAyatree herself is the DevatA. The person must do nyAsam in a lonely spot and then artha nyAsam.He must worship GAyatreewith her mantra and say,

"I take refuge of the Divine GAyatree, the Devi with one thousand eyes. I surrender to her wholly ! I bow down to Tat savitur vareNyam. I bow down to the Sun rising in the East, I bow down to the Morning Sun. I bow down to the GAyatree, residing in the Morning Sun. I bow down to all.”

Reciting this GAyatree Hridaya in the morning destroys all the sins committed in the night. By reciting this in the evening, he can get all his sins committed during the day destroyed!

Whoever recites this in the evening and in the morning becomes free of all his sins. He gets the fruits of all the Teerthas. Studying this will confer on him the fruits of performing thousand sacrifices and repeating the GAyatree sixty thousand times.

5#34. நவராத்திரி விரதம்

சுரத மன்னன் அறிந்தான் பராசக்தியின் பெருமைகளை;
சுமேதஸ் முனிவரிடம் கேட்டான் ஆராதனை விதிகளை.

“காம, மோக்ஷ, ஞான, வைராக்கியம் தருவாள் தேவி.
கடைப் பிடிக்க வேண்டிய ஆராதனை விதிகள் இவை.

ஆராதனை செய்து முடித்த பிறகு செய்ய வேண்டும்
பாராயணம் தேவியின் மூன்று சரிதங்களையேனும்.

உற்சாகத்தோடு செய்ய வேண்டும் தேவிவழிபாடு;
உபவாசம் இருக்க வேண்டும் விதி முறைப்படி.

சிறந்த திதிகள் அஷ்டமி திதியும், நவமி திதியும்.
சிறந்தது சதுர்த்தசியில் பிராம்மண போஜனம்.

நான்கு வர்ணத்தவரும் நலம் பெறலாம் செய்து
நவராத்திரி பூஜையைத் தம் சக்திக்கு ஏற்றபடி.

கருமித்தனம் கூடாது தேவியின் வழிபாட்டில்;
கன்னியருக்கு அளிக்க வேண்டும் மனம் மகிழ.

குங்குமம், சந்தனம், புஷ்பம், மேலும் பரிசாக
மங்கலப் பொருட்கள், ஆடை, ஆபரணங்கள்!

விரதங்களில் சிறந்தது நவராத்திரி விரதம்;
விரதம் கடைப் பிடித்துத் தேவியைத் துதிப்பீர்!

அரசுப் பதவி மீளும்; பகைவர் அழிவர்;
அரச போகங்களுடன் மீண்டும் வாழ்வாய்.

மகா மாயையை வணங்குவாய் வணிகனே
மனம் திருந்திவிடுவர் உன் குடும்பத்தினர்.

கொண்டாடுவர் உன்னை உன்னதமாக;
உண்டாகும் இனிய இல்வாழ்வு மீண்டும்.”

5#34. NavarAtri Vratham

King Surata and the merchant SamAdhi understood the greatness of Devi. They wanted to know the rules of worshiping Devi. Sage Sumedas said,

” Devi can bestow upon us anything we seek – be it kAma, moksham, JnAnam or vairaagyam. She must be worshiped as per the prescribed rules. Her AarAdhana must be followed by the pArAyaNa of at least three of Devi’s stories.

The vratham must be observed as prescribed. Her worship must be done with sincere enthusiasm. Ashtami and Navamai are best thithis for Devi worship. Brahmins must be fed on the Chaturdasi day.

All the four varNas can benefit by worshiping Devi during NavarAtri according to their affordability. People must not be stingy while performing the pujas. Young girls must be presented with kumkum, sandal, flowers, new clothes, ornaments and other gifts to make them happy.

You both do Devi AadrAdhana during NavarAtri. King Surata! You will regain your kingdom and your ruler ship. SamAdhi, your family members will change their temperament and accept you with due respect and love once again”.




 
BHAARGAVA PURAANAM - PART 2

#45a. மரீசி

பிரமனிடம் கேட்டான் அவர் மகன் மரீசி,
“பரம்பொருள் என்பவர் உண்மையில் யார்?

முத்தொழில் புரியும் மும்மூர்த்திகளின்
உத்தமமான தலைவன் யார் தந்தையே?”

“மும் மூர்த்திகளைப் படைத்தவர் விநாயகர்;
முத்தொழில்களை அளித்தவரும் விநாயகர்.

முழுமுதற் கடவுள் ஆவார் விநாயகர் – அண்டம்
முழுவதும் வியாபித்து இருப்பவர் விநாயகர்.”

பக்தி பூண்டார் மரீசி விநாயகப் பெருமான் மீது;
மிக்க அன்புடன் தவம் புரிந்தார் விநாயகர் மீது.

காட்சி தந்தார் கனிவுடன் விநாயக பெருமான்,
“கேட்பாய் மரீசி நீ விரும்பும் வரங்களை!” என

“பார்வதி தேவி பிறக்க வேண்டும் என் மகளாக;
ஆர்வத்துடன் தரவேண்டும் அவளை உமக்கே!”

அனுக்ரஹம் செய்து அருளினார் விநாயகர்;
அங்கிருந்து மறைந்து அருளினார் பின்னர்.

சத்தியலோகம் திரும்பினார் மரீசி – தான்
சாதித்துப் பெற்ற வரங்களைக் கூறினார்.

வேதவல்லி என்ற கன்னியைப் படைத்தான்;
வேதநாயகன் மணம் செய்வித்தான் உடனே!

#45a. Mareechi

Mareechi was Brahma’s son. He ashed Brahma one day, “Who is the supreme among all the gods? Whose commands do the Trimoorthis obey?”

Brahma replied,” VinAyaka created the Trimoorthis and gave them their jobs of creation, protection and destruction. He is the supreme among all Gods. He is the one who pervades all the universe.”

Mareechi became a sincere devotee of VinAyaka and did severe penance on him. Vinayaka was pleased and appeared before him to grant the boons desired by Mareechi.

Mareechi wished that PArvati Devi must be born as his daughter and she must be presented to VinAyaka by him. VinAyaka granted those boons and disappeared.

Mareechi went back to SatyalOkam and told Brahma about the boons he has got from VinAyaka. Brahma was happy to hear them. He created a beautiful girl named Vedavalli and got her married to Mareechi immediately.

12#5a. காயத்ரீ ஸ்தோத்திரம் (1)

"ஆதி சக்தி! ஜகன்மாதா! உந்தன் பக்தர்களுக்கு
அருள் பாலிப்பவளே! எங்கும் நிறைந்தவளே!

அந்தமில்லாதவளே! திரிசந்தி ரூபிணியே!
காயத்ரீ தேவியே! உனக்கு நமஸ்காரம்!

காயத்ரியும் நீயே! திரி சந்தியும் நீயே!
சாவித்திரியும் நீயே! சரஸ்வதியும் நீயே!

ப்ராஹ்மியும் நீயே! வைஷ்ணவியும் நீயே!
ரௌத்திரியும் நீயே! ஸ்வேதாவும் நீயே!

உள்ளாய் பாலை வடிவாகக் காலையில்;
உள்ளாய் இளம் பெண்ணாக நண்பகலில்;

உள்ளாய் வயது முதிர்ந்தவளாக மாலையில்;
உன்னுகின்றனர் ரிஷிகள் உன்னை இவ்வாறு.

விளங்குகின்றாய் அன்ன வாஹனத்தில்!
உள்ளாய் கருட வாஹனம் உடையவளாக;

உள்ளாய் ரிஷப வாஹனம் உடையவளாக;
விளங்குகிறாய் மும்மூர்த்தியரின் வாகனத்தில்.

தியானிக்கின்றாய் ரிக் வேதத்தை பூமியில்;
படிக்கின்றாய் யஜுர் வேதத்தை விண்ணில்;

எந்த தேவியைத் தரிசிக்கிறாரோ தவஞானி
அந்த தேவியாக நடமாடுகின்றாய் பூமியில்.

12#5a. GAyatree stotram (1)

I bow down to you, the mother of the world; one who favors your devotees; the Infinite and omnipresent Devi! You are SandhyA; You are GAytree; You are SAvitri and you are Sarasvati; You are BrAhmî, You are VaishNavi and you are Raudri.

You are meditated by the rushis as being very young in the morning, full of youth in the mid-day, and aged old lady in the evening. I bow down to You. You are seen by the ascetics as BrahmANi, riding on a swan; Sarasvati riding on Garudaand SAvitri riding on a Bull.

You are manifesting the Rigveda in this world, manifesting Yayurveda in the middle space and manifesting SAmaveda in the Rudra loka. You exist in the three worlds. I bow down to you.

5#35a. சக்தி ஆராதனை (1)

மனம் மிக மகிழ்ந்தனர் சுரதனும், சமாதியும்;
முனிவரை வணங்கினர் கால்களில் விழுந்து.

“உபதேசம் கேட்டுப் பெற்றோம் பிறவிப் பயன்;
உபதேசம் செய்ய வேண்டும் நவாக்ஷரத்தையும்.

தியானிப்போம் தேவியை யாம் நாம ஜபத்துடன்,
தியாகம் செய்வோம் அன்ன, பான, நித்திரை.”

சுமேதஸ் முனிவர் உபதேசித்தார் நவாக்ஷரத்தை,
சுரதன், சமாதி பெற்றனர் பூரண மனத்தெளிவை.

அடைந்தனர் புண்ணிய நதிக்கரை ஒன்றினை;
அமர்ந்தனர் ஒன்றிய மனத்துடன் தியானத்தில்.

இடைவிடாது தியானித்தனர் தேவின் நாமத்தை;
படித்தனர் தேவியின் சரிதங்களை அனுதினம்.

தெளிவடைந்தது கலங்கிய மனம் மெதுவாக;
அளித்தனர் நன்றி வணக்கத்தை முனிவருக்கு.

ஆண்டுகள் மூன்று உருண்டோடின – செய்தனர்
அல்லும், பகலும், அனவரதமும் தேவி தியானம்.

தரிசனம் தந்தாள் பராசக்தி அவர்கள் கனவில்,
தரிசனம் மறைந்தது கண்களைத் திறந்ததும்.

உறுதி பூண்டனர் காண வேண்டும் அன்னையை;
புறக் கண்களாலும் காணவேண்டும் திருவுருவை.

காட்சி தர மறுத்தாள் தேவி இப்போது – தேவியின்
காட்சி பெறுவதற்கு எதுவும் செய்யத் துணிந்தனர்.

அமைத்தனர் ஒரு ஹோம குண்டம் இருவரும்;
அளித்தனர் தம் உடல் உதிரத்தையே நெய்யாக.

பெய்தனர் தம் உடல் பாகங்களை அக்னியில்;
பெய்தனர் சிந்துகின்ற உதிரத்தை அக்னியில்.

5#35a. Shakti AarAdhana (1)

Surata and SamAdhi became very happy and thanked the Sage Sumedas profoundly. Now they had another request. “Sire! Can you please teach us Devi’s NavAksharam so that we can worship her in the proper manner?”

Sage Sumedas obliged willingly. King Surata and Merchant SamAdhi went away to the bank of a river. They sat in deep meditation and did japam of Devi’s NavAksharam for three long years with unified concentration.

The read Devi’s leelaas everyday. Their troubled minds settled down and became calm as the days passed by.
One night Devi appeared in their dream. When they opened their eyes Devi vanished. They were unhappy that they could not see Devi with their eyes.

They were determined to have her darshan at any cost. They set up a homa kundam and started offering their own body parts and the flowing blood in it.

#45b. சக்தி

கயிலையில் இருந்தனர் சிவனும், பார்வதியும்;
“இயங்குவது எங்கனம் அண்ட சராசரம்?” எனத்

தேவி கேட்டாள் நாதன் சிவபெருமானிடம்.
தேவிக்கு அதை விளக்கினார் சிவபெருமான்.

“தேவி! சகல காரியங்கள் நிகழ்வதற்குத்
தேவை நிமித்தம், துணை, உபாதானம்!

இவை மூன்றும் இன்றி எதுவும் நிகழாது.
இவை மூன்றுமே இன்றியமையாதவை!

நிமித்தம் நான்; துணை என்பது என் சக்தி;
நீ அறிந்த மகாமாயை ஆவாள் உபாதானம்.

சக்தி என்பது என் துணைவியாகிய நீயே!”
சக்தி கர்வம் கொண்டாள் இதைக் கேட்டு.

“நான் தான் சக்தி என்பது உண்மையானால்
நானே ஆகிறேன் தங்கள் உடலும் உயிரும்.

அசைகின்றன உலகங்கள் என் அசைவால்!”
ரசிக்கவில்லை சிவனுக்குத் தற்பெருமை.

“அறிவாய் நீ என்னுடைய சக்தியை எனினும்
பெருமை பேசினாய் உன் சக்தியை என்முன்!

காட்டுகிறேன் என் சக்தியை இப்போதே – நிலை
நாட்டுகிறேன் நான் இன்றி எதுவுமே இல்லை.”

சக்திகள் அனைத்தையும் ஒடுக்கினார் சிவன்;
சந்திரன், சூரியன், அக்னியுடன் ஒடுங்கினர்

இரவு, பகல் பேதமின்றி இருள் கவிந்தது.
உறங்கியது உலகம், உறங்கினர் தேவர்.

நின்று போயின நிகழ்வுகள் அனைத்தும்;
நின்று போயின அன்று எல்லாம் எங்கும்!

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.



 
#45b. Shakti

Siva and PArvati were in KailAsh. DEvi asked Siva, “How does the Universe function?”. Siva explained to her thus,

“DEvi! For anything to take place we need these three factors namely Nimiththam, ThuNai and UpAdAnam. I am the Nimiththa kAraNam for everything. You Shakti form the ThuNai and MahAmAyA is the UpAdAnam.”

Shakti became very proud on hearing these words. “If I am the Shakti and the ThuNai, then I am your body and power. The whole world moves because I move”

Siva did not relish her words nor her boasting about her power. He told her rudely, “Knowing very well about my power, you have spoken so proudly about yourself. I shall withdraw all my powers from the universe and prove that without me nothing can ever move!”

He withdrew all his powers from the Universe. Sun, Moon and Agni disappeared completely. There was no distinction between the day and the night and darkness covered the entire universe.

The whole world slept on. The DEvA slept on. Every activity came to a grinding halt everywhere immediately.

12#5b. காயத்ரீ ஸ்தோத்திரம் (2)

"அடைந்துள்ளாய் நீ ருத்திர லோகத்தை;
அடைந்துள்ளாய் நீ விஷ்ணு லோகத்தை;

அடைந்துள்ளாய் நீ பிரம்ம லோகத்தை;
அடைந்துள்ளாய் நீ ரிஷிகளின் பக்தியை;

இருக்கின்றாய் நீ மாயா ஸ்வரூபிணியாக;
தருகின்றாய் வரங்களை உன் பக்தர்களுக்கு.

உருவானாய் நீ பார்வதி பரமேஸ்வரரின்
கர வியர்வையிலும், கண்களின் நீரிலும்.

ஆனந்த ரூபிணி ஆனவள் நீயே!
அனைத்து துர்க்கா ரூபமும் நீயே!

குருத்துவம் கொண்டவள் நீ!
வராஹ ஸ்வரூபிணி! சக்தி!

போக, மோக்ஷங்கள் தருபவள் நீ!
மத்ய லோகத்தில் பாகீரதியானாய்.

பாதாள லோகத்தில் போகவதி நீ!
திரிலோக வாஹினீ ஆவாய் நீ !

ஸ்தானத் த்ரய நிவாசினி நீ - பூமியில்
தாங்குகின்றாய் அனைத்தையும் நீ!

உள்ளாய் வாயு சக்தியாக புவர் உலகில்;
உள்ளாய் தேஜஸ் கடலாக சுவர் உலகில்

உள்ளாய் மஹாசக்தியாக மஹர் உலகில்;
உள்ளாய் ஜனனியாக ஜனர் உலகில்;

உள்ளாய் தபஸ்வினியாகத் தப உலகில்;
உள்ளாய் பத்ய வாக்காக ஸத்ய உலகில்."

12#5b. GAyatree sthotram (2)


You are RudrAni in the Rudra loka, VaishNavi in the VishNu loka and BrahmANi in the Brahma Loka. You are like a mother to the seven sages.

You are MAyA. You grant boons to your devotees. You came from the perspiration in the hands of Siva and PArvati and the tears in their eyes.You are all the forms of DurgA Devi.


You are the BhAgirathi also known as the river Ganges in this world; You are the river Bhogavati in the PAtAla and you are the MandAkini in the Heavens.

You are the sole supporter in this world (Bhur loka); You are the VAyu Sakti in the middle space (Bhubhar Loka); You are the energy or the ocean of Tejas in the Heavens (Svarloka); You are the Great Siddhi in the Mahar loka; You are the Janani in the Janar Loka; You are the Tapasvini in the Tapar loka and You are the Speech in the Satya loka.

5#35b. சக்தி ஆராதனை (2)

காட்சி தந்தாள் தேவி திருவுளம் கனிந்து,
“கேட்கும் வரம் தருவேன் கேளுங்கள்!” என

“கைப்பற்றினர் என் நாட்டை, என் பதவியை.
கைப்பட வேண்டும் என் நாடும், என் பதவியும்!”

சுரதன் கேட்டான் தேவியிடம் – இந்த
வரத்தைத் தன் உள்ளக் கிடக்கையாக!

“செல்வாய் உன் நாட்டுக்கு நீ மீண்டும்!
வெல்வாய் நீ உன் பதவியை மீண்டும்!

ஆள்வாய் நெடும்காலம் நல்லாட்சியாக;
வாழ்வாய் ராஜபோகங்களுடன் நெடுநாள்.

சேர்வாய் சூரியனுடன் உன் கால முடிவில்;
தோன்றுவாய் பூவுலகில் ஒரு மனுவாக!”

போற்றினான் சுரதன் தேவியின் கருணையை;
போற்றினான் வணிகனும்; கூறினான் இவ்வாறு.

“நான் வேண்டுவது இவைகள் தான் தேவி.
நான் வேண்டுவது ஞானம், வைராக்கியம்.

துக்கம் தருகிறது உலகில் சம்சார பந்தம்;
நித்திய சுகம் என்ற பேச்சுக்கே இடமில்லை.

விடுவிப்பாய் சம்சார பந்தங்களில் இருந்து;
விடுவிப்பாய் பாசத் தளையிலிருந்து என்னை!”

சடுதியில் அடைந்தான் ஞான, வைராக்கியம்;
விடுபட்டான் வணிகன் கல்பித வாழ்விலிருந்து!

மறைந்தருளினாள் தேவி வரங்கள் தந்த பின்பு;
நிறைவுடன் திரும்பினர் இருவரும் குரு முன்பு.

உலகம் உய்ய வேண்டும்! விசாலம். K. ராமன்

5#35b. Sakthi AarAdhana (2)

Devi appeared in front of them and said,” I shall grant any boon you wish for!” King Suratha prostrated to Devi and said, “I lost my kingdom and my ruler ship. Please help me to get them back.”

Devi blessed him saying, “You will go back to your country and rule it as before. You will rule well and for a very long time. You will go the Soorya lokam after your time on earth is over. Later you will be born as Manu on the earth.”

Surata became very happy to hear this and paid obeisance to Devi. Now it was the turn of the merchant SamAdhi. “Devi I wish to get JnAnam (True Knowledge) and vairAgyam (Detachment) by your grace. I am fed up with the life of a householder.

Human life is full of sorrows with a little happiness sprinkled in between the sorrows. Liberate me from all the worldly bondage by giving me JnAnam and virAgyam”

Devi blessed him granting him JnAnam and vairAgyam and then vanished from there. Suratha and SamAdhi went back to Sage Sumedas once again.


 
BHAARGVA PURAANAM - PART 2

#45c. பரிஹாரம்

தேவி நடுங்கினாள் தன் தவற்றை உணர்ந்து;
தேவி பணிந்தாள் இறைவனின் பாதங்களை.

“ஆணவம் கொண்டு பேசிவிட்டேன் ஸ்வாமி!
அடியாள் பிழை பொறுத்தருள்வீர் தயவுடன்!”

தோற்றுவித்தார் பதினோரு கோடி ருத்திரரை;
போற்றித் துதித்தனர் அவர்கள் அவரை இரவில்.

திருவிடைமருதூரில் நான்கு கால பூஜையில்,
தரிசனம் தந்தார் பரமேஸ்வரன் மனமகிழ்ந்து.

“தடையின்றித் தொடர வேண்டும் பணிகள்;
தயை கூர்ந்து அருள வேண்டும் தாங்கள்!” என,

ஏற்றுக் கொண்டார் கோரிக்கைகளைச் சிவன்;
ஏற்றமும் அளித்தார் சிவராத்திரிக்குச் சிவன்.

நித்திரையில் இருந்து விழித்து எழுந்த தேவர்
சக்தி பெற்றுச் செய்தனர் தத்தம் பணிகளை.

“நியமங்களில் தவறி விட்டோம் சக்தியின்றி;
நீக்கவேண்டும் தோஷத்தைப் பரிஹாரத்தால்!”

“தவறு இழைத்தவர்கள் நீங்கள் அல்லவே!
தவறு செய்யாதவர்களுக்கு தண்டனை ஏது?

தேவியின் ஆணவத்தை அடக்க விரும்பினேன்;
தேவிக்கு உணர்த்த என் சக்தியை ஒடுக்கினேன்!”

தேவி உணர்ந்தாள் பரிஹாரம் என்பதைத்
தேவர்கள் அல்ல, தான் செய்யவேண்டும்!

“இருள் கவிந்தது என்னுடைய தவற்றால்;
அருள் கூர்ந்து சொல்லுங்கள் பரிஹாரம்!”

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி

#45c. ParihAram

PArvati realized her folly and apologized to Siva. Lord Siva created eleven crore RudrAs. They did elaborate four kAla puja in the temple at Thiruvidai Maruthoor that night. Siva was very pleased with their puja. He gave them his dharshan.

The RudrAs prayed, “The universe must be active as before. Please grant us our prayer”. Siva accepted their prayer and made the world active as before. The DEvA got up from their deep sleep and went about their usual business.

They came to Siva and prayed to him, “We failed in our prescribed duties. Please tell us the parihAram to be done by us.”

Siva replied to them, “You did not do anything wrong and so there is no need for you to do any parihAram. DEvi spoke with self pride. I wanted to prove to her the truth and withheld my power. ”

Now PArvati realized that it was not the DEvA but she herself who had to do the parihAram. She prayed to Siva, “Please tell me the parihAram to be done by me, to rectify my mistake.”

5#35c. சக்தி ஆராதனை (3)

விடை பெற்றுச் செல்ல விரும்பினர் இருவரும்
தடை பட்ட வாழ்வை மீண்டும் தொடருவதற்கு.

வந்தனர் ஆசிரமம் மந்திரிகள், பிரதானிகள்;
தந்தனர் சுரதனுக்கு ஒரு நல்ல செய்தியினை.

“மாண்டு மடிந்து விட்டனர் உங்கள் வைரிகள்;
ஆண்டு ரக்ஷிக்க மீண்டும் வாரும் நாட்டுக்கு!”

அழைத்தனர் சுரதனை நடாளுவதற்கு வருமாறு!
தழைத்தது தேவியின் கருணை பரிபூரணமாக என

விடை பெற்றுச் சென்றான் சுமேதஸ் முனிவரிடம்;
கடைசிவரை மறக்கவில்லை தேவியின் கருணையை.

தங்கினான் வணிகன் முனிவர் ஆசிரமத்தில்;
ஓங்கி வளர்ந்தது அவன் ஞான வைராக்கியம்.

தீர்த்த யாத்திரை செய்த விட்டு வந்தான் – பின்
தீர்ந்த வியாமோஹத்தால் ஜீவன் முக்தனானான்.

ஜனமேஜயனே கூறினேன் இந்த இரு சரிதங்களை;
உனக்குத் தெளிவாக்க தேவியின் கருணையினை.

பொருட்செல்வம் விழைந்தான் மன்னன் சுரதன்;
பொருட்செல்வம் அளித்தாள் தேவி அவனுக்கு!

அருட்செல்வம் விழைந்தான் வணிகன் சமாதி;
அருட்செல்வம் அளித்தாள் தேவி அவனுக்கு.

தேவி தருவாள் நாம் கோரும் வரங்களை!
தேவி தருவாள் நமக்கு இக,பர சுகங்களை!”

உலகம் உய்ய வேண்டும்! விசாலம். K. ராமன்

தேவி பாகவதம் ஐந்தாம் ஸ்கந்தம் முற்றுப் பெற்றது.

5#35c. Shakti AarAdhana (3)

Surata and SamAdhi went back to the ashram of Sage Sumedas. King Surata’s ministers and courtiers visited the Aashram one day. They told king Surata, “Oh king! All your enemies have got killed. We want you to return to our kingdom and rule us as you did before!”

The king Surata was surprised that Devi’s grace had made possible everything he had wished for. He took leave of the sage and went back to his kingdom.

SamAdhi stayed back at the Aashram. His JnAnam and VairAgyam grew stronger as the days rolled by. He went on a theerta yaatra ( a long tour to all the holy places) and when he returned he had became a jeevan muktan.

King Janamejaya! I told you these stories to show how Devi can give us anything we seek. King Surata wanted to get back his kingdom and the life of a king and Devi gave them to him.

Merchant SamAdhi wished for JnAnam and VairAgyam and she gave him those. Devi will give whatever we seek from her – either the pleasures of this world or those of the next world.”

12#14a. தேவி பாகவத மஹிமை

வெளிப்பட்டது இது தேவியின் திருமுகத்திலிருந்து;
வெளிப்பட்டது இது வேத சித்தாந்த போதனையாக.

உபதேசித்தாள் முதலில் தேவி விஷ்ணுவுக்கு;
உருவாக்கினார் பிரமன் நூறு கோடி கிரந்தமாக.

இயற்றினார் வியாசர் இதை 18,000 கிரந்தமாக;
இயற்றினார் வியாசர் பன்னிரண்டு ஸ்கந்தமாக.

இணையாகாது இதற்கு வேறு புராணங்கள்- ஆனால்
இணையாகும் இதன் பாராயணம் ஒரு பரியாகத்துக்கு!

கருத வேண்டும் பாராயணம் செய்பவரை வியாசராகவே!
அருள வேண்டும் வஸ்திராபரணங்கள் வஞ்சனை இன்றி!

செய்ய வேண்டும் தேவி பாகவத புராணத்தைத் தானம்!
எழுத வேண்டும் தன் கையால் அல்லது பிறர் ஒருவரால்.

தர வேண்டும் தானம் புரட்டாசி பௌர்ணமியன்று;
தர வேண்டும் தக்ஷிணை அலங்கரித்த பசுவுடன்.

அளிக்க வேண்டும் போஜனம் அந்தணர்களுக்கு;
அளிக்க வேண்டும் குமரிகள், சுமங்கலிகளுக்கும்.

அளிக்க வேண்டும் நல்ல ஆடை ஆபரணங்கள்;
பூஜிக்க வேண்டும் தேவியின் ஸ்வரூபமாகவே.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி

12#14a. Devi BhAgavata Mahima (1)

These words was spoken by Devi herself as a teaching of Veda sinddhAntam. Devi did upadesam of this to VishNu. Brahma made it into a purAna with one thousand million grantAs.

Sage VyAsA modified it into 18,000 granthAs divided into twelve skandas. No other Purana can be as great as this one. PArAyaNam of this confers the same merits as performing an Aswameda YAgam.

The person reading his work must be regarded as Sage VYAsa himself and treated with deep respect. He must be gifted with dress, ornaments and wealth.

The Devi BhAgavatam must be written by hand and gifted to a worthy Brahmin on the full moon day in the Navaratri time. It must be presented along with a well decorated cow and suitable DakshiNa.

PuNya sthrees and virgins must be considered as swaroopams of Devi and honored accordingly with new clothes and ornaments. Brahmins must be given a feast and gifts.

12#14b. தேவி பாகவத மஹிமை (2)

பூமி தானப் பயன் தரும் இந்தப் புராண தானம்;
பூமியில் இல்லை இதைவிடச் சிறந்த தானம்.

எண்ணியவற்றை எண்ணியவாறு பெறலாம்!
பண்ணிய பாவங்களிலிருந்து விடுதலையும்!

குடியிருப்பர் நிரந்தரமாக வாணியும், லக்ஷ்மியும்
விடாமல் இதைத் தினம் பாராயணம் செய்பவரிடம்.

விலகிச் சென்று விடும் தீமைகள், தீய சக்திகள்;
விலகிச் செல்வர் துஷ்டர்கள் கஷ்டம் தராமல்!

நோய்கள் குணமாகும் பாராயணம் செய்தால்;
ஞானம் பெருகும் தினம் பாராயணம் செய்தால்.

வேத பாராயணப் பலன் தரும் தேவி பாகவதம்;
தேவியின் நவராத்திரிகளில் படிப்பது உத்தமம்.

"விடாமல் படியுங்கள் தேவி பாகவதத்தை !" என்று
விடை பெற்றுச் சென்றார் சூதமுனிவர் அங்கிருந்து.

தேவி பாகவத மஹா புராணம் சம்பூர்ணம்

தேவியின் திருவடிகளுக்குச் சமர்ப்பணம்.

வாழ்க தேவியின் பக்தர்கள்! வளர்க சக்தி தேவியின் மீது பக்தி!!!

12#14b. Devi BhAgavata MahimA (2)

Gift of the Devi BhAgavata PurANa gives the merits of donation of land. There is no higher dAnam than this PurANa DAnam. One can attain and get fulfilled all his wishes and dreams. He can become free for his sins.

Lakshmi Devi and Saraswati Devi will dwell permanently in his house who reads this PurANam everyday. All the impending dangers and evil forces move away from such a person. He will be cured of all diseases troubling him. His knowledge and wisdom will grow.

PArAyaNA of Devi BhAgavatam confers the same benefits as doing Veda PArAyaNA. The best time to do read this is during the Nava RAtri festivals of Devi.

Soota Rushi ended his long lecture with these words," Read Devi BhAgavatam without fail" and took leave of all the other rushis assembled there.

#45d. வல்லபை

“யமனோடு தோன்றியவள் யமுனை நதி;
யமுனா தீரத்தில் வசிக்கிறார் மரீசி ரிஷி.

நதியில் தாமரையாக மலர்ந்து இரு,
நதியில் அவர் நீராட வரும் போது!

கண்டு உன்னைஅவர் நெருங்கும்போது
பெண் குழந்தையாக நீயும் மாறி விடு!

அன்புடன் பேணுவார் முனிவர் – உன்னை
ஆனைமுகன் வடிவில் கைப் பிடிப்பேன்!”

அகன்றாள் கயிலையில் இருந்து தேவி;
அமர்ந்தாள் அம்புய மலர் மீது நதியில்.

வெண் சங்கு உருவெடுத்து தவத்தில்
ஒண்டாமரை மலர் மீது இருந்தாள்.

புனித நீராட யமுனை நதிக்கு வந்தார்
முனிவர் தம் மனைவி, சுற்றத்தோடு.

ஒண்டாமரை ஒளி கண்ணைப் பறித்தது;
வெண்சங்கின் ஒளி கருத்தைப் பறித்தது.

தண்ணருள் கண்டு வியந்தார் முனிவர்
வெண்சங்கு குழந்தையாக மாறியபோது!

அளித்தார் மனைவிக்கு அன்புப் பரிசாக;
வளர்த்தனர் நற்பண்புடன் வல்லபையாக.

“கைலாசபதியைக் குறித்துத் தவம் செய்ய
செய்வீர் தகுந்ததொரு தவச்சாலை” என்றாள்.

அமைத்தார் மரீசி மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் தவச்சாலை;
அமர்ந்தாள் வல்லபை அரும்தவம் புரிவதற்கு.

அன்ன, பானம் விடுத்தது உடலை வருத்திச்
சின்னப் பெண் செய்தது அரும் தவம் ஆனது.

‘மற்ற பெண்களைப்போல இல்லையே இவள்!’
குற்றமாக எண்ணினாள் அன்னை வேதவல்லி.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

#45d. VallabhA

Siva told PArvati DEvi, “River Yamuna came into being along with Yama. Sage Mareechi lives in the banks of river Yamuna. You become a lotus flower in the river Yamuna and wait for the sage there.

When he sees you and comes near, you become a baby girl. He will adopt you and bring you up well. I will
marry you in the form of VinAyaka.”

PArvati Devi left KailAsh and went to the river Yamuna. She transformed herself into a lovely white conch and sat on a lotus flower doing penance on Siva.

The lotus flower and the white conch placed on it shone with unusual brilliance, catching the attention of the sage, when he came to bathe in the river with his wife, kith and kin.

He moved closed to have a better look and the conch changed into a lovely baby girl. The sage became very happy and gave that baby girl tio his wife VEdavalli. They named her a VallabhA and brought her up with great affection.

When VallabhA became a little older, she told the sage Mareechi her father, “Please get a place ready for me to do penance on lord Siva.”

The sage arranged for a tapo sAlA and VallabhA sat in deep penance. VEdavalli found this strange on the part of a little girl, who was supposed to spend the time playing with her little friends.

6#1a. முனிவர் விண்ணப்பம்

முனிவர்கள் வணங்கினர் சூத மகரிஷியை,
“இனிக்கின்றன தேவி லீலைகள் அமுதமாக!

செவிமடுக்க வேண்டும் தேவி லீலைகளை;
செவிகள் அமிழ்தில் நனைந்து குளிரும்படி.

விஸ்வகர்மாவின் மகன் பலவான் அன்றோ?
விருத்திரன் கோரமாகக் கொல்லப்பட்டான்.

பிரம்ம குலத்தில் தோன்றியவன் விருத்திரன்;
பிரம்மஹத்தி அவனை இந்திரன் செய்தது ஏன்?

சத்துவ குணசாலிகள் தேவர்கள் என்கின்றனர்;
சத்துவ குணம் ஆகுமா பிரம்மஹத்தி செய்வது?

உதவினார் மஹாவிஷ்ணுவும் இந்தப் பாதகத்துக்கு!
உதவினாள் மஹா தேவியும் இந்தப் பாதகத்துக்கு!

குழம்புகின்றோம் இதை எண்ணி நாங்கள்;
குழப்பத்தைத் தீர்த்துத் தெளிவு படுத்துங்கள்!”

“கூறுவேன் விருத்திரனின் விருத்தாந்தத்தை;
கூறினார் வியாசரும் ஜனமேஜயனுக்கு இதை.”

சூத முனிவர் கூறத் தொடங்கினார் கதையை,
சௌனகாதியர் கேட்டனர் கருத்தொருமித்து.

உலகம் உய்ய வேண்டும்! விசாலம். K. ராமன்

6#1a. The request of the rushis

The rushis prostrated to Sootha maharushi. They told him,”The leelAs of Devi related by you are sweeter than nectar. We want to hear more and more of them from you.

ViruthrAsuran, the son of Viswakarma was a valorous man. Why was he murdered so horribly by Indra? ViruthrAsuran belonged to Brahma kulam. By kiling him Indra would incur the Brahma hatthi dosham. Why did Indra kill him thus?

Devas are supposed to excel in satva GuNa but is it satva GuNa to kill a pure brahmin? VishNu and Devi also helped Indra in this killing! The more we think about this, the more we get confused. Please clarify our doubts sir!”

Sootha maharushi replied to them,”I shall explain all the happenings to your satisfaction just VyAsa had to explain to king Janamejayan in the distant past”.


 
Bhaargava puraanam - part 2

#45e. வல்லபை

“பிற பெண்களைப்போல அல்ல வல்லபை!
பிறந்துள்ளாள் பார்வதியே வல்லபையாக.

பெருமானை மணக்கத் தவம் செய்கிறாள்;
புரிந்து கொள்வாய் நீ அதைத் தடுக்காதே!”

பன்னிரண்டு வயதானது வல்லபைக்கு;
பெண்ணுக்கு அருள்புரிய நேரம் வந்தது.

வினாயகர் சொன்னார் சிவனிடம் சென்று;
“அநாவசியமாக நாளைக் கடத்தவேண்டாம்.”

அந்தணர் வடிவம் தரித்தார் சிவபிரான்;
வந்தார் வல்லபையின் தவச்சாலைக்கு.

ஆசனம் அளித்து உபசரித்த வல்லபை,
“காரணம் என்ன தங்கள் வருகைக்கு?” என

“மணம் புரியவந்தேன் கன்னி உன்னை நான்!’
சினம் பீறிட்டது வல்லபையின் உள்ளத்தில்!

“வரித்து விட்டேன் பெருமானைக் கணவராக;
வெறுத்து விட்டேன் பிற ஆடவரை என்றோ!

உள்ளத்தில் இடமில்லை வேறு எவருக்கும்;
உள்ளதை மாற்ற முடியாது வேறு எவராலும்”

“நடக்கவே முடியாத ஒன்றில் நாட்டமா?
கிடைக்க முடியாத ஒன்றுக்காக தவமா?”

“கிடைக்காவிட்டால் உயிரை விடுவேன்!
கிடைக்க மாட்டேன் வேறு எவருக்கும்!

சென்று விடுங்கள் நீங்கள் இங்கிருந்து;
சென்று விடுகிறேன் நானே இங்கிருந்து.”

அந்தணனைக் காணவில்லை கண்முன்னே .
ஆனைமுகன் வடிவில் நின்றார் சிவபிரான்.

வலம் வந்து வணங்கினாள் வல்லபை;
“வரம் என்னவேண்டும் கூறு பெண்ணே!”

‘வலப் பக்கத்தில் இணைபிரியாது என்றும்
நிலையாக இருக்க அருள்புரிய வேண்டும்!”

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

#45e. VallabhA

Sage Mareechi told his wife VEdavalli, ” VallabhA is not an ordinary girl like the other children. She is the amsam of PArvati DEvi herself. She is born to marry Lord VinAyaka. Understand and remember this fact and do not discourage her in her efforts”

Now VallabhA was twelve years old. VinAyaka told Lord Siva, “It is time to bless and make VallabhA’s penance fruitful. Do not delay it any further.” Siva went to the tapo sAlA of VallabhA transformed as a Brahmin.

VallabhA welcomed him and offered him a seat. She asked the Brahmin, “What is the purpose of your visit here?” The Brahmin stated point blank, “I want to marry you! I have come here to marry you.”

VallabhA became terribly angry on hearing these words. “I have decided to marry VinAyaka long since. I can’t marry anyone else now.”

The Brahmin made fun of her now. “You are dreaming to achieve something which can never take place.
You are doing penance for something that is impossible.”

VallabhA replied harshly, “If it is impossible I will rather give up my life than give up my dream of marrying VinAyaka. Please go away from here now. Or I myself will go away from here!”

She wanted to leave the place abruptly in her anger. But now the Brahmin had disappeared and lord Siva stood there in the form of VinAyaka.

She fell at his feet. VinAyaka asked her, “What is that you wish for pretty damsel?” VallabhA replied “I want to occupy your right side for eternity from now on!” VinAyaka granted her that wish.

 
ஸ்ரீ வேங்கடேச புராணம்

ஸ்ரீநிவாச புராணம் என்று தனியாக எதுவும் இல்லை. பதினெட்டுப் புராணங்களில் வேங்கடேசரின் லீலைகள் பன்னிரண்டு புராணங்களில் காணப்படுகின்றன. அவற்றை எல்லாம் தொகுத்து திருவேங்கட மஹாத்மியம் என்ற பெயரில் ஒன்று சேர்த்துள்ளார்கள்.

திருமலையில் கிடைத்த கல்வெட்டு ஒன்று கி பி 1491 ஜூன் மாதம் 27ம் தேதி பாஸிந்தி வேங்கடதுறைவார் தாம் தொகுத்த திரு வேங்கட மஹாத்ம்யத்தை விண்ணப்பம் செய்ததாகக் காணப்படுகிறது. 1884 ல் இது தெலுங்கு புத்தகமாக தேவஸ்தானத்தரால் வெளியிடப்பட்டது 1896ல் இரண்டாவது பதிப்பும் 1928 ல் மூன்றாவது பதிப்பும் வெளி வந்தன.
