Think or sink!

ShaNmatam (ta as in takiTu, tanti, taTTai, etc.) was one thing; I don't know it has now become Shanmadam (da as in madayaanai, darbaaru, daLit, etc.)! And Unnikrishnan is singing on these six madams !!

Dear Sangom Sir,

Please check the spelling in this link:
Shanmadam-ganapathyam- Shree natya niketan - YouTube

'மதம்' is pronounced as 'madam' in Tamil and not 'matam' - only Srilankans pronounce that way!

P.S: I always write with one 'h' added - 'madham' to avoid confusion - Tamil does not have
த4. :)

Thank you dear for saving me the trouble of explaining this.
We did not have power from 7 A.m to 2 P.M.!!!

It is a nice feeling to know that even those who proclaim that they do not care about my threads and do not read them visit secretly and read - at least to find faults! :)

ShaNmat(h)am is the right word though most people say it as ShaNmadham.

A quick googling showed more relevant hits for shanmatham than for shanmadham.
Perhaps a distortion from sanskrit - tamil - english rather than the preferred sanskrit - english

The problem of speaking in Tamil confuses many times.

Not many of us say 'matham'; we say 'madham'. It became 'madam' too!! :D

In the puranic films, a single arrow would become one hundred arrows and attack the army of the enemy. In Kanda Puranam also such war scenes are elaborated. So it is like dhwaitham in adhvaitham...only here the dhwaitham is not necessarily limited to two!

:photo:

:clap2:

May we all pray for the eternal peace of the soul of
Miss.Nirbhayaa (Delhi gang rape victim).

May her sacrifice and suffering NOT go in waste!

Was she transported to Singapore to contain the violent agitation,
which will turn more violent if she breaths her last here in India?

Was she really alive when she was transported to Singapore?

We will never know these answers.

But we know one thing for sure.

Such a thing should never again happen to any other girl in the whole world!

Was she attacked by blunt instruments (including crow bars)
externally and internally too???

I shudder even to think of it! :scared:

Your eyes can cheat you!

I always read veNpaattu as venpattu

and Vedic marriage as video marriage!

I guess we prefer to read words we are more familiar with!

The word VeNpaa is more familiar than VeNpattu! Right?

This is more of an age of video meetings, conferences than in person.

Video celebrations are more common than traditional Vedic ceremonies!

After all these years on the stage,
what made Ganesh and Kumaresh
introduce themselves suddenly
by their correct names???
They don't look identical r even similar
though their haircut is unique!!! :)
Any identity crisis in the offing??? :noidea:

One genuine and honest doubt aimed at all the exponents in Carnatic music.

It is not customary to sing Pratimadhya raagaas in close sequences in a concert.

WE ALWAYS SING A SUDHDHYA MAHYA RAAGAA IN BETWEEN TWO SUCH RAAGAAS.

Why did Sri. Unnikrishna sing very closely related pratimahyama ragaas like
Rishabapriya (62) Lathaangi (63) Kalyaani (65), Hansaanandhi and may be more such raagaas in close sequence ???

(WE did not have power for about 20 minutes during the concert!!!)

Was it done on purpose to display his mastery over these raagaas which differ very very slightly when based on the swaraas but differ in prayogaas???

I am not an exponent in Carnatic music, but I can answer this!

The editor liked the prathimadhyama rAgams probably!
The program is for nearly two hours whereas the telecast is only for about 40 minutes! :clock:

P.S: Was LathAngi included?

I am reminded of Mr. M K's statement: 'vadakku vAzhgiRathu; theRku thEygiRathu!'

So many victims in South India go unnoticed whereas there is a hue and cry in the Delhi case.

As long as the punishment which is NOT severe is delayed for many years, these crimes are sure to continue. :pout:

It is NOT just a question of vadakku and therkku!

Imagine a paramedic at the prime of her youth,

returning home after watching a movie,

not alone but in the company of her friend,

boarding a stationary bus hoping to get good seats,

(and a bus is supposed to be safer than an auto or a car)

at 9 P.M. when the night is still young in metropolitan cities,

getting mutilated and thrown out of the bus

on street stark naked for no fault of hers!

If we are not able to sympathize with such a girl,

we are not worthy of being called as human beings!
