Hi-tech ultrasound gadget turns your sink into a washing machine

Ultimate kitchen gadget 'Dolfi' uses ultrasound to blast dirt from your clothes in under 30 minutes

When the washing machine was invented, it transformed lives – but now, there is a much more high-tech way to wash your laundry.

“The Dolfi” is a tiny gadget that uses ultrasonic soundwaves to blast dirt from clothes.

The device, which fits in the palm of a hand, can be placed in a sink and will supposedly clean laundry without any need for scrubbing or wringing within just 30 minutes.

Its inventors claim that it is ideal for travellers, as it can turn a sink into a mobile washing machine, and that it can be used on even delicate fabrics such as cashmere and silk – removing the need for handwashing.

The gadget also uses around 80 times less energy than a conventional washing machine.

The Dolfi was invented by German entrepreneur Lena Solis after she had problems washing clothes while travelling.

“Inspired by amazing benefits of ultrasound, successfully utilized for years in many industrial and medical applications, we’re excited to bring the advantages of ultrasonic precise cleaning to everyday personal use. I believe that ultrasonic technology will change the way we wash,” she said.
