The most selfish one letter word : i - avoid it

the most satisfying two letter word : we - use it

the most poisonous three letter word : ego - overcome it

the most used fourletter word : love - value it

the most pleasing five letter word : smile - keep it

the fastest spreading six letter word : rumour - ignore it

the hardest working seven letter word : success - achieve it

the most enviable eight letter word : jealousy - distance yourself from it

the most powerful nine letter word : knowledge acquire it

the most valued ten letter word : friendship - maintain it

Dear Umaji / URRji

Nice to have you actively participating and contributing. I would personally love to see you
getting into debates and discussions - like those heated ones between rat [ Dr Renuka]
and Camel [ C.Ravi ].

Such healthy interaction will cultivate a type of fondness between TB Forum members. Ravi & Renuka
relationship is like the classical Tom & Jerry equation - taking pot-shots at each-other all the
time - don't ask me whose side I am on - just jump into the ring and do your bit of sparring.

Somebody must've remarked about her looks therefore, to avoid 'drishti', Renuka has changed her
pic to that of a hopeless rat, and Ravi to match that transformed himself into a Camel!

Now, don't go searching for worse looking creature to post against your name. And before you
blame me, I assure you my moonji [my very own moonji ] will be on this evening.

dear USHA,

We recently had an incident where a person was launching new threads like the rockets launched during Deepaavali.

None of them were discussed about. They just kept moving back all the time and disappeared from the first page.

I can see your enthusiasm as a new comer.

But please launch the threads one at a time.

Let people discuss on it. We have all the time in the world.

Why the hurry?

P.S.

That gentleman was called names and rudely silenced by a few other members.

I am sure they WILL not do the same thing to a sweet lady like you.

Still "It is better to be SAFE than to be SORRY."

I hope you will take this in the right perspective
as the advice of a well wisher & senior member
interested in your performance.
:)

Mrs. VRji,
Were you by any chance referring to me, for talking pot shots? LOL
I am an equal opportunity offender, no gender bias here.

Dear Prasadji

I don't think Tmt VR was refering to you, but when she addresses UMA as USHA,
you never know. She is confused - as she mentioned to Renuka!

Well, I agree, the most selfish one letter word is "I". But is it not the single letter word "I" is the underlying motivator for all that we see around us today? We are born selfish from the time of our birth. Ultimate aim of the birth of all living species is self preservation and propagation. All other things are incidentals in the chain of our experience around the "I" that we call as life.

These are just "loud thinking" which has no basis of authority except my own experience in life.

Regards,
Brahmanyan,
Bangalore.

But the "I" creates lot of other "I"s, good and bad. "I" is the universe and the Universe is "I" only. The thing is how we decorate this "I" in life that makes all the difference.

If I had you in my mind and was sure that it was YOU,
surely I would have dragged your name into the Forum in my post.
I know you are unbiased by the gender of the poster!
keep taking pot shots.
We NEED someone to do it too!!! :)

I is the axis around which the whole world revolves for EVERY one of us!
The I becomes troublesome when it become "ONLY I"
which makes the person egoistic and selfish
So the actual culprit is the ONLY the prefix attached to I!!!

I had exactly 20 minutes to prepare the prasadm, get ready and reach the temple.
So in my great hurry I wrote Usha in stead Uma.
May be I too should change over to URR to escape getting caught like this!!!

namaste everyone.

Since 'I' is the very expression of our consciousness which is part of the universal consciousness, it cannot be a selfish word. But then when this 'I' depends on the 'eye' (physical or mental) to identify itself, it can become selfish, motivated by ignorance.

I am reminded of another recent incident.

A person appeared in the forum claiming to be out of school just 5 years ago.

(But he was already employed for over 5 years.

But that is beside the point and we can neglect it.)

He had red carpets spread out to him wherever he decided to walk.

It was raining stars and more stars everywhere right from the beginning.

Within a few days he disappeared completely and today no one knows

where he is and whether he is still in the forum or not.

Moral of the incident:

Wait till the person proves his/ her worth to shower the stars.

Premature catapulting to stardom does

more HARM to the person than GOOD!

namaste everyone.

Thinking over Prasad's statement in post #15:
"I with vasana is selfish, I without vasana is Brahman",

it is the feeling of 'my' that imparts the vice of selfishness to the 'I'; and this feeling of 'my' is invariably acquired when 'I' depends on the 'eye'. Although the 'I' has two eyes to have a balanced view of everything in samabhAva--of like nature, using them it almost always ends up desiring everything only for itself, which becomes its svabhAva--nature/feeling of mine, which in turn gives rise to the vAsanas--impressions, that survive post-mortem deciding furutre births.

Dear friends,

My father always used the word 'wedding' and never the word 'marriage'!

The reason he told: 'WE' comes before 'I' in the word 'wedding'! :grouphug:

My additional comment: 'Marriage' starts with the word 'mar'!!

Greetings.

Personally, I don't consider that one letter word "I' as most selfish. I consider the one letter 'U' which can denote a word 'You'. The word 'U' is the most selfish. By uttering the word "U', we forget the term "We". We tend to isolate ourselves from the other person. We end up forming two different categories. I being one and 'U' being the other; but if we practice "We' instead, we can add both entities and still have one group.

Cheers!

Dear Raghyji

I partly agree therefore the picture of US - me and my wife Meera - yes, my wife
not my daughter - I hope Tmt VR will notice, I am not bald!

Dear Umaji / URRji

Please don't get bogged-down - they may call you Usha/Asha/Abitha/Whatever, that's
how senior people are!

You either bully or get bullied, you either tease or get tease, that's also how
senior people are.

Come on, jump into the ring and start sparring, I'll cheer you on.

A honest and point blank question which might hurt!
To the unknown benefactor showering stars all along...:rain:
Do you or Don't you feel that you have wasted your stars on a thread
in which the wise heads crack and whack with one another
and the thread starter went into hiding after the O.P???
