and my generation women hardly kissed lips to lips, sheesh waht a waste of lips & stick :)
Makeup is not only about lipstick and kaajal. Indian tradition is to makeup with jewellery. Our things like Mehendhi are red hot and hotter than lipsticks. The red of bindhi is more powerful than the red lip. Rich makeup for eyes and lips are evident in our history but got lost somewhere in the middle. The reason may be due to the various invasions that should have necessitated low profile for our women for her safety. In my opinion even the women of 10th Century in India should be knowing about pink cheeks and the know how of it. Therefore it is wrong to assume that pink for cheek is a borrowed thing from West. Even before the westerners are here in India there is a craze for fair tone and tight features. It is not that only the Britishers introduced demand for fairness in India. Also the art of curling and straightening of the hair is also many centuries older than the invasions here. Topping it with a bunch of sweet smelling flower is a very powerful weapon than a shade of lipstick and where else one find it than in our place?

the underlying motivation is to attract positive vibes from people.at a deeper level of probing the conscious, its to find a mate or is it just vanity of humans.men also groom for a reason.of corurse the kudumi veshti era for office going tambrahms has gone, but festivals give an oppurtunity attire traditional get ups.i love marudhaani on women, its temperorary tatoo :)

Dr Barani,

Now its our turn to say; Note All men!!!

We woman dont like to see greasy faces with stubble on faces. There is nothing like a well groomed, clean shaven face that is free from traces of grease with a light hint of after shave.
Most men take personal grooming too lightly and soak their hair with greasy hair creams.

BTW: Dear Dr Barani I have to give you a complement. You look well groomed in your pic.

Yeah I had given some thought to this before starting this thread. Whether shaving kits should be banned as well. But I know that some women (unlike Dr RK here) do like stubble. :bump2:

hi
no woman looks beauty with out make ups....there are some exceptions...nobody wants see inner beauty without make up...
if there is no make up...all actress are useles to see.....

Strong words!

Dear Sri "Brahmanyan",

I will try to convey your ideas about personality enhancing intelligence to the young people sitting for the IIT, Medical, GRE & GMAT. Unfortunately I am worried that the not-so-good-looking ones will be unduly discouraged.

Dear Sri "Biswa",

Yes, appearance of a person in public makes a lot of difference. That is called "personality" which has its origin from the word in Latin "Persona" meaning "Mask".
The recent visit of Pakistan's youngest and first woman Foreign Minister pretty Ms. Hina Rabbani Khar got the media attention by her beauty and elegance. This 34 year old mother of three children is a lover of mountain trekking and Polo enthusiast. She is considered extremely stylish, but conservative in her dressing. "Meanwhile, all the talk about her fashion sense made some wonder if the focus is being taken away from what she’s in India for". That is the effect of Personality. It enhances the intelligence of the person.

Regards,
Brahmanyan,
Bangalore.

I think make up for women does not do the job of enhancing their beauty but complementing it. So my opinion is women's beauty is more complete when they do a make up.

But what do you think pink cheeks are complementing? And what about the dusky actresses who desperately try to lighten their complexion?

How many ppl think that Madhuri Dixit and Aishwarya Rai look super ordinary without makeup. Some pics have leaked through.

I think Vidya Balan (the Pattar) looks good with our without makeup. Mr. Kunjuppu (and any other Pattars), are you with me?

Wait makeup and Viagra are related? But now that you say it, perhaps you have a point ...

why is everybody having a penchant for banning? what an stiff combination for make up.

bis,

i am no fan of aish.

i missed out the whole madhuri era, because of my then prevailing prejudice against bollywood. bion (beleive it or not) my first madhuri movie was
the comparatively recently released 'aaja nachle', which i watched at mrs K's insistence. i was not impressed.

i recently read a news item, that madam M demands 5 crores rupees for an interview in a tv media in india (koffee with karan johar for instance).

i dont know the reason for such greed, considering that she, probably has, enough munny, for 10 generations. i hope she gives enough to charity
to SOS.

vidya balan, i am a fan. when it comes to being a fan, all logic is tossed aside. this i got only about a few months ago. when vidya was shooting
a movie in toronto, kismet konnection, she was visitng a close friend of ours, all the time, because they were neighbours, and she could not live
without her keerai molagootal/puli pacchadi for too long.

at that time, i ignored it, but today if vidya comes to toronto, we would guarantee the best keerai molagootal/puli pacchadi from the hands of
mrs K.

to answer in a sentence, vidya balan, is pattar by birth. there was a time when her name was hinted with ganesh venkatraman, for possible
parental matchup, because both are pattars, brought up in bombay.

nowadays, vidya proclaims, that at heart, she is a bengali. i am not surprised because it was bengali cinema that gave her the big break, and bengalis prodiced parineeta and now kahaani. she is tops. i cannot wait till i see her caricature of silk smitha.

i liked her in jessica, where she was without makeup.

she is a good lady.

Viagra comes in the shade of Blue,
Make up comes in various Hues,
Viagra and Make up go hand in hand,
Enhancing what Nature didnt lend!!!

Thats totally unfair!!!

Its not that Madhuri and Aish look like the girl next door Ok!!!
Try getting a plain jane and apply make up and see if you can get an Aish or a Madhuri.

Aish has a superb facial bone structure, height, hair, body etc.She is a wholesome package and not merely a pretty face.Good looks is everything not just a face but from head to toe and Aish has it all.

Madhuri has a beautiful face and smile and fairly average body and she looks out of this world in traditional costumes.

See anyone can take pics of any celebrity when they are least attractive and paste them all over the internet.I am sure all of us lesser mortals have good pictures and "ugly" pictures too.

Biswa you cant transform a frog into a princess with make up..closest you can get is transforming a frog into Vidya Balan!!!

Note: Dear All,this answer is purely for Biswa. So dont get mad with me about the Vidya Balan line.

Biswa: You just check out any Bollywood gossip websites and just read what majority people think about Vidya's looks..BEHENJI!!!!

I don't believe this. All your profile pics have been good so far. Are they because of makeup?

I detect something more than the usual bluster here. Envy, perhaps? At any rate, these comparisons are now getting closer to the line of intolerance.

Yup, that's where we need to form our opinion: gossip websites! She may be Shahid Kapoor's akka, but she is certainly not mine!

Biswa you said:

Biswa if you feel my profile pic looks good..then I have to thank my father(I am a Carbon Copy of him) and also my Camera.

Hey Biswa, I dont envy anyone yaar..I am just teasing you since you are SOOOOOOOOOOO IN LOOOOOOOOOOOVEEEEE with Vidya!!!

Since this thread is about makeup (and not makeup) let me ask a very provocative question:

Who looks more beautiful, in general, without makeup:

Iyer Girls or Iyengar Girls?

I feel Iyer Girls look more beautiful, in general, without makeup....

So far what I have noticed is, Iyengar girls have more tougher looks unlike the charming looks of iyer girls.

hi sir
iyer girls are beautiful with make up.....iyengar gals are with out make up beautiful......becoz iyer gals are thayir saadham...

Are they theist or atheist or holy atheist or pseudo-atheist or practical-atheist practicing agnosticism - answer depends on the reply to the above

Hey TBS,

You are smart yaar..your post reminds me of a story I once read where a deer was being chased by a hunter and the deer hid in a bush near a sage who was meditating.
The hunter asked the sage "Sir have you seen a deer run by here?"

Sage was thinking in his mind that he should not utter falsehood nor be responsible for the death of the deer.

So the sage said this.."The eyes that can see cant speak and the tongue that can speak cant see"

You cleverly praised both Iyers and Iyengar girls and made your preference clear.

BTW: With regards to the Sage story..it must happened in ancient days when hunters were still kind enough to accept such a reply. If anyone gives such answers these days to any hunter on a hot pursuit for anything be ready to get our brains blown out of our head!!!
