HAPPY FATHERS DAY

From Deccan Chronicle

The expression of the father in this cartoon is great!!

I thought the son(s) / daughter
(s) are supposed to give gifts to their father!! :D

As promised to Sri. Ravi, sometime back!!

Here is the poem dedicated to my father:

I am against these Father's day, Mother's day, Children's Day... Servant Maid's Day etc... These things have been imported from Western culture where which child belongs to which father..is to be acknowldged... Every child in our culture do have certain obligations [ Except few ] towards their parents and they will certainly remember their parents and it is not necessary to allot a seperate Day as per western calender... Even after death we see the rituals are performed irrespective of their religion as a mark of respect and rememberence.. This is our tradition..

TVK

Dear TVK Sir,

It is your wish to like or dislike to observe any 'day' as per western culture.

But, I don't think it is wrong to think of our dear father on a special day, just because the idea is from the west!

We feel happy and proud when non Hindus in the west read BG and become admirers of Hinduism!

So, why not join them to celebrate the 'Fathers day'?

Of course, as I have written in my poem, I think of my dear father at least a couple of times every day! :hail:

Regards........ :)

Dear Sri "TVK",

Though these celebrations are imported from Western Culture, I don't find anything wrong in following them if it is not against our traditions and belief. If my son and daughter sends me a Greeting or a gift as a token of expressing their love it certainly gives joy to me. I will not deny an opportunity of enjoying an occasion just because it is of foreign origin. We have accepted many things which are foreign to us from mode of Dress to food habits and language to living, then why should not we celebrate a day specially for Mother, Father Mother, Children... or Servant Maid ?

Dear Brahmanyan Sir,

Thank you very much for supporting my views! I feel blessed!!

Does this mean we as parents expect our children to remember us on a particular calender day only... I do not question the acceptence of useful things from foreign soil..

But why a calender day to be given for expressing their love & affection... Are we not having the continuous bond with our children ?.. Is this the way to share our joy

like Deepavali or Pongal... The human relationship between parents and children is unexplainable and celebrating it in particular day and forget about it in other days is

like treating the parents only as 'things' to remeber ...No parent will expect their children to neglect them what ever their position it may be and as I said earlier this

culture suits only for the families with various father/ mother for children ..for biological identification ...

:hail:

பொன்னையும், பொருளையும் மதிக்காதவர்;

எண்ணும், எழுத்தும், இருகண்கள் என்றால்;

வந்ததுவும், போனதுவும் தெரியாதவாறு;

கைத்தடியுடன் திண்ணையில் காத்திருப்பார்;

கலைக் களஞ்சியம் எனக்கேட்டு இருப்பீர்கள்;

தீபாவளிப் பட்டாசுகள், மத்தாப்புகள் என;

முப்பது நாட்களுக்கு முன்பே வாங்கிவந்து;

:hail:

A truck load of lovely flowers and
lots and lots of best wishes to

dear Sir,

The first thing I do when I wake up in the morning and the last thing I do before retiring to my bed is looking at the photos oF Gods, my parents and my father in law.

They have brought us into the world. They have made us what we are today.

My elder son takes after my dear father and my younger son takes after my gentleman father in law (whom I had never seen since he passed away while my husband was a teenager).

So I see both the fathers in my sons and remember and cherish them always. That is the least I can do to repay for their kindness and goodness. :hail:

with warm regards and best wishes for a wonderful day!
Visalakshi Ramani.

It might be your wish or you may be the lucky one. You may not know all families, and still you are generalizing.
There is nothing wrong in celebrating a special day for anyone. A memorial day for remembering all the fallen Soldiers
is good too. You may deride the western cultures but that may be due to your limited knowledge. You do not have observe any of these days it is up to you.
I feel sorry that observing any special day by others bothers you, that you post articles criticizing them in public forum.
