Sangu Gayathri
Before beginning every pooja, one has to carry out the following :
Aathma Suddhi, Sthana Suddhi, Draviya Suddhi, Mantra Suddhi, Lingha Suddhi
(Vigraham to which we are going to do abhishegam, etc) then comes to the
routine i.e. Pranayamam, Sangalpam, Kalasa Pooja, Sanga Pooja, Athma Pooja,
Peeda Puja, Guru Dyanam, Prana Prathishtai, etc. A Sangu is placed on a
stand similar to the Turtle shape. Water is filled in it. Sandal Pottu is applied.
The performer has to touch the Sangu closing its mouth, chant the Sangu
Gayathri i.e. Panchajanya Gayathri
Panchajanyaaya vidmahe Bavamaanaaya dheemahi tanna sanga prachodayaat
After that
Pooja is performed to the Sangu with flowers before starting the main pooja
Sangaya Namaha
Davalaaya Namaha
Panchajanyaaya Namaha
Janaardhanaaya Namah
Brahmane Namah
After doing the routine, with the water filled in the Sangu, prokshanam is done
to the self and also to the pooja draviyams.
Therefore, Sangu Gayathri is important.
