Co existence is a problem only we try to see the differences instead of similarities. It is one of attitude. One with the right attitude will embrace others and will also influence them.

But madam what you have written are telling problems facing the youth who find it difficult to balance traditional values and modern practices.

The overwhelming majority of the population is analytic and selfish. So natural pressure is building against it and for the pendulum to swing to the other side.

Hardships that are directly or indirectly related to the material can be glossed over. The worst kind of corruption and hazard is the mental corruption. Those who are inherently meaning harm to others for promoting self are the worst culprits and scoundrels. They need to be set right primarily. Everything else will cosily fall in place.

while quite a bit of insistence on the continuation of the ritualistic practices the youngsters will definitely face in the outside world, certain things have to be borne in mind : "Theettu and Madi " - girls will be the most affected by these two - the young girls will need a lot of grounding in following these , as well as when to let go and when to observe strictly ! They will have to understand that this as well as " Echchal and Paththu " - all of which have been brought in to enforce cleanliness and hygiene ( as the pandemic showed us ) - unfortunately or fortunately it's the parents - mother, in fact, who has to educate her daughters about these customs - and as I find in many of the households, they 're themselves lacking in the knowledge of the essence of these ; many prefer to follow blindly - " this is what we've been told to do ", rather than analyse why - and with the explosion of knowledge, their kids question everything and are dissatisfied if they aren't given the right answers. Boys escape most of these !
There have been instances of boys entering American universities and getting what they would like to have " as a special requirement , to practice their religious beliefs ", but that is very few and far between. It is a tough choice and how to go about it has to be decided in each case, and there is no one shoe to fit all !

It all depends upon the parents as to how well they have prepared the children to adapt to the modern society without compromising on the cultural values practised at home. If the parents follow these values there should not be any difficulty for the youth to have the confidence to face the world.
