Think or sink!

dear Renu,

I have hear about Learn-while-you-earn!
You went one step further to learn-while-you sleep! :clap2:

Solving problem is OK since when the whole world is quiet the subconscious

mind is busy solving the real life problems. But learnig new things ???

Dear VR ji,

Sometimes dreams can teach us..once I was having a problem in understanding the grammar of a Sanskrit prayer.

Then one night I dreamt of a priest teaching it to me and the next morning whatever I read seemed crystal clear to me.

So I pay very close attention to my dreams.

No beheading. Only squelching by a big elephant.

Sir! You have taught me a new word today. :pray2:

I knew the word trampling but squelching is new to me!

Not the meaning (which is almost the same as VETO in my case ) but the word itself!

The person would be buried neck deep in the soil and the elephant

would be goaded to play foot ball with his head! :scared:

So it is still beheading but not by the use of a sharp instrument!

The ancient methods of torturing would make one's blood curdle.

Hands and legs would be pulled apart by the ancient gadgets

until the person splits like star fish but with four parts instead of five!

It was fondly called by those demons as Quartering.

A person would be hung by his hands until the shoulders get dislocated completely.

He would have two hands alright with all ten fingers in tact

but they would just hang limp and could not be used to any thing at all! :tsk:

Usng a person's own weight against him!

dear Renu,
So you were already trying to understand it.
The priest was your own subconscious mind explaining it to you.
We are told to sleep over a problem and not make a hasty decision.
While asleep all the external distractions disappear and the mind works at its best!
Everything is stored in the subconscious mind.
We can pullout anything from it we need while we sleep
more easily than while we are awake and distracted

Tenali Raman had several miraculous escape from the wrath of the king.

Once he was given the death sentence but was allowed to choose the way he wanted to die

The King thought he would choose among the swift sword, the mighty elephant, the poison,

fall from a mountain top and other similar known methods.

But clever as he was Tenali Raman said with great respect

"I want to die a natural death in my old age!" :thumb:

At another time he was pronounced to be
cut down by the executioners sword.

He made two special requests.

There must two two executioners instead of the usual one
to make it doubly sure that the punishment was carried out.

He wanted to stand in the river while he was being punished.

The king agreed noticing nothing was wrong in these requests.

Tenali Raman stood in the river water and made
the two men with swords stand on his two sides.

They were supposed to cut at the count of three.
So 1, 2 and 3 was counted by Tenali Raman himself!

Tenali Raman sat under the water surface with the speed of lightning
and the two men with swords cut off each other's head!

So brain power is the real power not the brawn power nor the power of vocal chords!!!

Tarun ( a male child < 14 months young ) was trying to talk various alphabets.

The most prominent was the 'hroo' which he kept repeating very often.

The other letters were ya, tha and ka.

'Hroo' is Devi's BheejAksharam.

I was really impressed by his continuous effort to talk words.

i watched the raw fight for a scooter parking spot recently.

As usual it was the ilavasa iNaippu that was the center of the noisy scene.

it was a Sunday. All the gents were at home. All the kids were at home.

She would not let a house full of audience go in waste.

So she fought tooth and nail for over an hour.

I did not recognize the brave new man who withstood

the onslaught for such a long time.

I could visualize the raw expression in Duryodhan's face

when he is credited to have said,

"I will not part with a land the size of the tip of a pin!" :mad2:

The most fragile vegetable that needs careful cooking used to be the drumstick.

In USA the frozen drumsticks are available and they too need careful handling

and cooking lest they open up to form strips instead of the cylindrical tubes.

NOW the drumsticks need careful pressure cooking!!!

When my close friend (the wife of my husband's class mate)

died in a fatal road accident, i wanted to honor her with a garland.

The flower shop owener said it was cstomary to buy Rose garlands.

So I bought a big red rose garland.

I thought to myself

'The rose flower is delicate is fragile. The petals fall of easily. May be it is to

remind us that human life is also as transient as the rose flowers.'

After reading about the recycling and reuse of such flowers

I thought Rose is the best suited for this occasion since

it can not be restored, reused or recycled - even by us Indians!

பன்றி ஓடி ஒளிந்து கொண்டது ஒரு புதரில்;
பன்றியைத் துரத்தி வந்தான் அந்த வேடன்.

சத்திய விரதனிடம் கேட்டான் வேடன்,
“ரத்தம் சிந்த ஓடி வந்த பன்றி எங்கே?

வேட்டையாடுவது என் குலத் தொழில்;

I think that people will sink if they don't think!

Some people think that I should sink since I think!

So I decided to let those people sink who would rather not think.

I myself would rather think and not sink!

THIS THREAD will eventually get the Brahma's knot

for the want of fresh posts over a long long period!

BUT there is one thing that nobody can do to this!

Keep thinking if you care and forget it if you don't dare!

A recap of the opening post of Think it over!

DEAR FRIENDS!

"Man is a rational animal."

"Man is a thinking animal."

"Man is a social animal."

Two more sentences of this type

and we will start pondering

and wondering whether

we are human or animals.

We are HUMANS when we think.

We are ANIMALS when we just act.

Let us think and learn to live like the

human beings we were designed to be.

"Practice makes perfect."

We may initially GET LOST in thoughts

since it might be an unexplored territory but

once it is chartered, the process becomes easier.

:welcome: to share freely your views, thoughts,

observations and inferences in this new thread.

A recap of the opening post of this thread.

Was the highlighted portion a prophesy

or premonition or practical wisdom?

"Swim or Sink!" might be more popular than this title Think or Sink! But that does not make this title less true on any scale!

When we do not think too well... we sink by ourselves.
When we think too well... the others will make us sink.

So which is the better option among these two?

Sink by ourselves without thinking hard and well
or let the others take care of the job of sinking us?

It is indeed a tough question and needs to be pondered
well before it could be answered.

Well! In any case we need an outlet for free thinking so that
the other threads can remain pure and unadulterated.

Welcome to think constructively on anything under
the sun and above it and to refrain from any
destructive and damaging thinking process.
:)

Dear Madam,

This post of yours reminds me of this quote I read somewhere --

"Watch your thoughts, they become words.
Watch your words, they become actions.
Watch your actions, they become habits.
Watch your habits, they become your character.
Watch your character, it becomes your destiny."

So aptly you have named your thread 'Think or Sink'. The above quote also proves what you have stated to be true -- unless you watch the thoughts, they become potent enough to define your destiny.

Cheers!

'Out of sight out of mind' can be translated as 'Blind Lunatics'!

when translated into a foreign tongue and then back to English
But it will appeal ONLY to those who know the spelling of Humor.

For the others it will become a personal attack - since they do not know

whether Humor is a sold/ liquid/ vapor and whether

it is measured and sold by weight or volume!

So I will play safe henceforth. No more fun/ frolic/ humor / haasyam! :nono:

What can be more down to earth, more unambiguous and more impersonal

than hard-core Statistics - supported by unchallengeable evidence? :smash:

So this thread will carry hardcore facts - which may or may not interest people here.

But I too need a personal corner to speak from and a personal space to live in.
In other words, the attempt to make me disappear from G.D has gone with the wind!

So it will be facts, facts and facts from now on!

P.S.

Those who are prone to burning/ churning/ turning in the lower abdomen when

they see name and avatar are advised to keep off from this for their own good.

After all there will nothing to scrutinize, no hair to be split into 100 long strands further.

In other words the stalkers and pouncers will become jobless and unemployed here.

:sorry: for disappointing and breaking the

dear Renu,
These two things which everyone talks about are indeed very rare.
1. sense of Humor
2. common sense.
I can add one more to the list
3. A smiling countenance
Thanks for bringing this up.
See below how the animals with
less number of senses than us
express joy by laughing!
