[h=3]Model law cleared, shops, malls, cinemas can run 24×7[/h] The government Wednesday cleared a model law that allows shops, malls and cinema halls, among other establishments, to run 24x7 throughout the year. The law covers establishments employing 10 or more workers except manufacturing units and provides freedom to operate 365 days with flexibility on timing to open and close. It also provides for women to be employed on night shifts with adequate security, and calls for better working conditions for employees such as drinking water, canteen, first-aid, lavatory and creche. It will help generate additional employment since shops and establishments will have freedom to operate for longer hours, and require more manpower.

According to the official figures examined by The Indian Express, of the 35 incidents, at least 11 were reported in Delhi airspace, eight in Chennai, seven in Mumbai and four in Varanasi. The statistics handbook of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for 2014-15 recorded 11 “serious incidents” in the previous cycle, although a senior official told The Indian Express that “not all near-miss incidents could be classified as serious”.

Constable, wife booked for cheating 2 persons of Rs 4 lakh in Mumbai

A serving Mumbai Police constable and his wife have been booked for allegedly cheating two people in Khar of Rs. 4 lakh after promising help to buy homes in a slum. A complaint was registered at Khar police station by residents of a slum at Khar Danda after the couple allegedly refused to return the money, the police said. The accused, Narendra Buga is posted at Malvani police station and lives at Khar Danda with his wife Seema Buga.
