The magic of spiritual energy

Extent of spirituality in ones body indicated by the extent of flow and ease of flow of spiritual energy through sushumna. The force is getting progressively stronger for me.

Dunning-Krüger Effect.

Sravna..what do you think of the Dunning-Krüger effect in spirituality?

I am starting to see this very often.
Something about pursuing a spiritual path does delete metacognition/ awareness and understanding of one's own thought processes for certain individuals.

Its actually quite scary because it could affect anyone of us and its really important from time to time to keep a check on how much we do not know and not feel over confident that we are a know it all in spirituality.

This is often seen in some who had some form of "awakening" after following spiritual paths and they become intolerant to other ideologies which do not jive with their paths.

What do you think?

No idea. I know there are many who do not tolerate spiritually gifted people and devise all sorts of theories to put them down to feel comfortable.

I know you are not one of them. What do you think?

I dont mean that.
There isnt any theory here to put anyone down.

But I have noticed that when some start getting "awakened" they start to go ballistics on schools of thoughts that dont match theirs.

They become rigid and think only their way or the highway.
There are a few schools of thoughts that have a higher percentage of Dunning-Krüger Effect individuals.

But this doesnt occur to everybody who follows a spiritual path..it occurs to many though.

Starting to wonder if they have the Dunning-Krüger Effect to start with and it became more apparent when they started to thread the spiritual path.

The level of confidence they display is enormous though they lack metacognition.
Something isnt right.

You missed the jest Renuka. I know you are well meaning. I understand spirituality can give fluffy confidence as it is based on righteousness. So such people may think they are always right more so than the normal population.

I do not know which school of thought gives more overconfidence but advaita I believe is a top contender as its logic is close to unassailable but remember logic alone is not enough.

Thank you Renuka. It serves as a caution to myself to keep away from Dunning Kruger effect.

A novel understanding of advaita

Nirguna breath can be seen as the saguna responsible for the creation of forms. When He exhales world is created and when he inhales it dissolves into him. This is a symbolic understanding as nirguna Itself has no form

Exhalation is the creation of world that is maya or expression of saguna which carries the saguna principle or prana, inhalation is the dissolution of the world ,maya itself dissolving along with prana that is saguna principle.

Expressed as left and right brain or body and mind or materialistic and altruistic etc.The beauty is the principle and the expression appear to be in antagonism though fully connected at the deepest level

the duality is saguna and Maya being principle and expression . nirguna symbolically represents one who exhales and inhales. we also know in the ultimate reality there is stillness of breath no inhalation and exhalation

maya and saguna have equal role that is expression is as important as principle which can guide ones practical decisions., making mind and body equal importance , so also for example left and right brain, materialism and altruism, a balance is struck

Dear Sravna,
Recently I had a discussion with a buddhist monk and to my surprise he was saying Buddhism doesnt have any concept of Universal Consciousness or any state like Nirguna Brahman.
In fact he was saying all these concepts are totally wrong from the Buddhist concept.
Its strange.

Renuka

People are entitled to their philosophy. Why try to refute or change it as long as it is harmless. Having said that I have the greatest regard for Buddhist concepts maybe because somewhere I have subconsciously reconciled it with my views. Even otherwise Buddhism is a venerable philisophy
