கச்சை கட்டு is an idiomatic expression almost equal to ' take the bull by its horn' Madurai nurtured Jallikattu from sangam period and கச்சை கட்டி களம் இறங்குவர் idiomatically it means you are ready for a fight or an argument or debate Expressions like "சிறுக்கி புருசன் கிட்ட கச்சகட்டாதே" means don't get into arguments and nothing to do with his garment - Now even garments are gender neutral !

My take on கச்சம் (பஞ்ச)

If you wear கச்சம் காெச்சயா( to cover your torso only ) you may call it கச்சை!
கச்சை is காெச்சை கச்சம்!

There is a Sanskrit proverb I read before that an Ayurvedic physician was telling his wife he will buy her gold bangles cos the rich man is eating curds at night...then he laments saying to.his wife that she has to make do with silver bangles cos he heard that the rich man added a little salt to the curds..then he laments again telling his wife he can only get her glass bangles cos the rich man added a pinch of chili powder to the curds.


It was about eating curds at night is bad for health and to lessen the effect add salt and chilli powder to cut off the mucus producing effect.

Tahyir sadam with maavadu is best combination ever....My mother used to prepare thayir sadam by adding thick creamy part of curd more(home made) with milk in the rice to get yummy taste...

For thayir sadam, maavadu is ultimate that everyone knows...but How to prepare mavadu...My mom used to prepare like, wash the kanni manga (vadu manga) in water and wipe them, keep them under sunlight for sometime. Coat the kanni manga with castor oil. Finally add the paste of turmeric, red chilli and salt. It came very well...And my aunt used to add fenugreek and mustard in that...Could anyone help me in this regard...
