Rational and Logical vs Irrational and Illogical Debates.

Rational and Logical vs Irrational and Illogical Debates.

Rational and logical argument - combination of logic, sensible, reasonable, cogent and intelligent argument.

Example - Evaluate this govt performance and highlight the positives and negatives. If others highlight negatives, challenge them, question them to provide backups, evidences, etc.. Highlight media bias that is driving a wrong narrative.

Irrational and illogical argument - convoluted or deliberately twisted logic, unreasonable, unsound argument,

Example - name calling the person, calling the content rediculous. In the Indian national science congress, it is irrational and illogical to present that india practiced plastic surgery 3000 yrs back. Form a Indian national mythology congress and present these things.

Dos.
  1. Any debate should be logical and rational.
  2. Rational and logical observations to contribute to the OPs content.
  3. Rational and logical arguments to prove the content wrong.
  4. Discuss and agree or disagree on facts.
  5. Discuss and agree or disagree on fiction.
  6. Agree to disagree and move on.
  7. Bottom line - contribute positively to the discussion.

Donts.

  1. Don't name-call the person directly or indirectly
  2. Don't name-call the content directly or indirectly
  3. Don't oppose just because you don't like the poster.
  4. Don't degrade or derail the conversation
  5. Don't attack people who have different political ideology.
  6. Don't attack people when they change their ideologies.

Operating principles.

  1. If you abuse someone, they will abuse you back.
  2. If you abuse their content, they will abuse your content
  3. If you abuse their time and effort, they will abuse your time and effort.
  4. If you bring hatred to the table, others will oppose
  5. If you bring emotions to the table, others will too.
  6. Remember - thorn can only be removed by another thorn.

Abuse = name calling, deriding, indirect insults.

Please note, people can change opinions in a democracy, nothing is set in stone.

Don't name call them, when they do. Ask them why they changed?

Provide rational counters and have a strong debate,

Caveat: These are definitely not, as you rightly pointed out, biased newspaper article. You may not be able to download some of these because they are peer reviewed journals and require an institutional email id like .edu or .ac.in (at least some of them)

Also, Because some of them are foreign authors, they 'may not be' a member of 'Indian National Mythology congress'.

Smg,
This is still in a close group and not yet in the mainstream. I am hearing this only now, am sure the same with most.

And I was just quoting this as an example. I am not prejudiced either way on this subject. I will be more than happy if this goes mainstream.

Ps. I will try to see if I can access these urls and read them.

JK.

Irrespective of claims and counterclaims, what is noteworthy is that people like Sushruta had tremendous insight, that too in a period where there was almost zero knowledge and diagnostic tools. One should not criticize just because its from India and instead look for facts.
