Medical emergency on mobile for rail travellers[/h]
: Tech start-up RailYatri.in has launched a ‘Medical Emergency’ service on cellphones.
Vital information regarding medical facilities in the vicinity of the location during journey will be available on installing the RailYatri app on the mobile.
All medical information such as on-route hospital finder and ambulance assistance has been included.
The app will consider the location of the user and provide a list of health-care facilities at the railway stations en route. The information is not just limited to hospital names. The route to the health-care facility from the station, contact numbers of hospitals. and ambulance services will be provided. “Health care has been a longstanding problem for travellers. It is heartbreaking to see your loved ones suffer due to lack of information and facilities. Now, it’s time to take charge of your and your loved ones’ health during a journey,” says Manish Rathi, CEO and co-founder, RailYatri.in., in an e-mail from Delhi. Keeping in mind the troubled state of a user’s mind, in case of a medical emergency, Mr. Rathi said the flow of the feature is kept really simple.
At present, if an emergency arises on a train, the patient suffers due to lack of information and failure to get proper facilities at the right time. This is largely due to over-dependence on authorities and lack of route-specific health-care information.
Once the information of a medical emergency is given, the next station has to respond and the patient needs to be shifted to the hospital. This is time-consuming when the train moves through rural areas and during nights and often valuable life is lost.
