Marriage alliances are now being fixed through newspaper advertisements and internet. The major problem with this is that we hardly know anything about the Groom/Bride and their family. It is difficult if not impossible to verify the antecedents of the Groom/Bride and the family.

A number of Detective Agencies have come up who make Pre-Matrimonial verification.

How good are these? Has anyone used these services? What is your experience? Would you recommend any of them?

Thank you.

I hope sir, it will not be useful for our community
coz, we are always ahead in these things....

Some how or the other, some of our relatives / friends / colleagues will be helping in getting the data of the party

Hope i am right on this.....

Sorry.... thanks and regards

I only wish it was so simple. With Brahmins spread all over the world the age old information system is not able to help in all cases. You are not able to locate friends, relatives etc. in all places.

Many marriages have ended in disaster because some information about the boy/girl (which could have helped) was not available. You do read some real life horror stories in newspapers, magazines.

Detective agencies are a reliable source. It depends on how far you want to go and how much you are prepared to spend. If the boy is outside India it does cost a lot of money. Even inside India it is expensive.

In Malayalam there is an old saying "Chhoozhicchal Dhukkikanda" meaning if you are careful before performing an action, You will not have to regret it later. This is true of most things in Life.

Caveat emptor, or "Let the buyer beware".

This is true of marriage alliances.
