Influence of Western Culture among our people, Does it harm Hinduism?

Shri. Sangom,

This is an interesting topic for discussion but we need to first list down the things (part of western Culture) which does affect our tradition and culture because even while thinking of them, I can imagine the rebuttals from certain members saying that that was part of our ancient Hindu society so why raise an objection now. To give an example, I would say that consuming liquor is strictured against in our culture but someone would say somapana was consumed that time so how can it be alien to our culture. Another example would be "one night stands" are alien to our culture and then someone would say, what about the devadasis in those times?

IMHO, every society, tradition and culture has exceptions but exceptions don't become a rule. When this criteria is forgotten the discussions just get into an endless loop. So may be you can list the things which in your opinion does affect the Hindu culture?
