திருமலைக்கு ஒரு பயணம் - 3

ஒருமனத்தோடு தரிசனம் செய்ய விழைந்ததால்,
ஒருவரும் பசி பற்றி எண்ணவேயில்லை; அந்தப்

தன் பழமையைப் பேருந்து பறைசாற்ற, பாலாஜி
தன் அருளால் காப்பான் என்ற நம்பிக்கையோடு,

ஏற்றமிகு திருமலைப் பாதையில், இயற்கையின்
தோற்றங்களை கண்டு களித்தவாறு சென்றோம்.

பயணிகள் அனைவரையும் ஓரிடத்தில் கீழிறக்கி,
பரிசோதித்தனர் ஆயுதங்கள் உள்ளனவா என்று!

சின்ன 'பாட்டரி'கூடத் திருக்கோவிலுள் எடுத்துச்
செல்லத் தடை உண்டே! அத்தனை கட்டுப்பாடு!

ஒரு முறை அதிகாலை தரிசிக்கச் சென்ற போது,
ஒற்றை பாட்டரி வைத்த சிறு டார்ச்சை, கையில்

நான் கொண்டு செல்ல, காவலாளி தடை செய்ய,
நான் தேடித் தேடி வாங்கிய அந்தச் செல்லத்தை

விட்டு விட முடியாமல், பாட்டரியைக் கொடுத்து
விட்டு, காலி டார்ச்சை வெற்றியுடன் பெற்றேன்!

முடி காணிக்கை செய்ய வேண்டுமா, என வினவ,
நொடியிலே கை தூக்கினர் நான்கு பேர்! அவர்கள்

உடன் செல்பவர் ஐந்து பேரென மொத்தம் ஒன்பது!
உரிய இடத்தில் அவர்களை இறக்கி விட்ட பின்பு,

சரியாக ஆதவன் உச்சிக்கு வந்து சேருமுன், ஒரு
வழியாகத் திருக்கோவிலின் அருகே சென்றோம்.

வழிகாட்டிக்குப் பரிச்சயமான ஒரு கடையில், ஒரு
வழிகாட்டினார் எங்கள் உடமைகளைப் பாதுகாக்க!

செல்லுலாப் பேசிக்கு பத்து ரூபாய்; நாம் நடந்து
செல்ல உதவும் நம் காலணிக்கு இரண்டு ரூபாய்!

கடைக்குள் செல்லுல்லாப் பேசிகளை வைத்தவர்,
நடையன்களை இடுவதற்கு, ஒரு கோணி தந்தார்!

அத்தனை செருப்புக்களும் ஒரே கோணிக்குள்ளே!
இதனை எதிர்பார்த்த நான், ஒரு கடையிலிருந்து

பாக்கெட்டில் இடும் ஸ்வாமி படம் வாங்கி, அங்கே
'ப்ளாஸ்டிக்' பையும் கேட்டேன், பாதுகைகளை இட!

பாதுகைகளைப் போட்டுக் கட்டிய பையும், அங்கே
பாதுகாப்புச் செய்யும் கோணியினுள்ளே போனது!

முடி காணிக்கைக்குச் சென்றவர்களை அழைக்கத்
துடிப்புடன் சென்றார் வழிகாட்டி! அந்த நேரத்திலே

முதல் முறை அறிந்தேன், மொட்டைத் தலைக்கும்,
முழங்காலுக்கும் என்ன சம்பந்தம் உள்ளது என்று!

சென்ற மொட்டைத் தலைகள் திரும்பி வரும் வரை,
நின்ற சீனியர்கள் முழங்கால் வலியில் உழன்றனர்!

குறைந்தது மூன்று மணி நேரம் நிற்க வேண்டுமே;
குறைத்தோம் வந்த சிறு பசியை, அங்கே கிடைத்த

வாழைப் பழத்தால்! மூடியோடு கிடைப்பதால், அது
ஏழை முதல் செல்வந்தர்வரை நாடும் பழம் ஆகும்!

அவசரம் என்றால் நீரில் கழுவே வேண்டாம்; நமது
அவசரத்திற்கு, அப்போதே உறித்து, பசியாறலாமே!

மற்ற பல சிற்றுண்டிகளைப் பலர் உண்டனர்; மேலே
தொற்று நோய் பரப்பும் ஈக்கள் மேய்வதைக் கண்டும்!

Since 1975 I and who ever went with me always walked from Allipiri, up the hill. I always started only after dinner. About 8 PM hit the base; then start the walk. Just beautiful. Up to Kali Gopuram, really testing; then just take it easy until we hit 'muzhankaal murichaan'. But just before that, Chanragiri pass is just a beauty not to be missed. We didn't go in 2012. Who knows when, but I will only walk up the hill if and when I go.

when i was student in SV University Thirupathi from 1976 to 1982......i used to go to Thirumala by walk every month with friends...

from Alipiri....nice weather especially summer days...cool breeze......really a kind of trekking....till the top of seven hills....

we started walking after dinner ....we generally start at 11.00pm till early morning....we reach abt 2.00pm....straight away

we go to pushkarani kulam and take bath.....ready for anga pradhakhinam at 3.00am with wet clothes....then suprabatha

darsanam.....a small breakfast....ready tp move down Thirupathi by walk....abt 9.00am ready for college.......this was regular

monthly activity for more than 6 yrs....once in 2 months mottai also....it was period of energy and enthusiasm....volunteer

JARAGANDI duty during summer vacations....free food with free kalyanotsva darsanam every day.....now olden green memories

only....may not possible due to age/other convenience....

நண்பர் குழாம் திரும்பியதும், அனைவரும் சேர்ந்து,
நண்பகல் பன்னிரண்டு மணிக்கு தரிசனம் செய்திட,

முன்னூறு ரூபாய் நுழைவாயிலின் அருகில் சென்று,
முப்பது மணித் துளிகள், காத்து அமர்ந்திருந்தோம்!

எங்கோ காணாமற்போன வழிகாட்டி, அப்போதுதான்
அங்கே வந்து, அனைவரின் டிக்கெட்டுகளை அளித்து,

வரிசையில் பிள்ளைகளைக் கூட்டிச் செல்வது போல,
வரிசையில் எங்களை அழைத்துச் சென்றார் அழகாக!

ஒரு வெற்றிப் புன்னகையுடன், தரிசனம் கிடைக்கும்
ஒரு சந்தோஷத்தோடு, ஜனக் கடலினுள் கலந்தோம்!

இடி ராஜாக்களும், இடி ராணிகளும் குறையாத இடம்;
இடி பட்டு நான் இம்சைப்படாது தடுக்க, இடதுபுறமாக,

ஒதுங்கி நடக்கச் சொல்லி, என் பின்னாலே நின்றபடி,
மெதுவாக என்னைக் காத்தான், என் தங்கை மகன்!

இப்படிச் சென்றதால், வலப்புறம் நின்றவர் மட்டுமே
இடித்துத் தள்ளினர் என்னை! நானும் சமாளித்தேன்!

ஒரு புற இடிகளை மட்டும் தாங்கியபடி, மிகப் பெரிய
ஒரு அறையில் உள்ள இருக்கைகளில் அமர்ந்தோம்!

முறுக்கு, பாப்கார்ன், காபி, டீ இன்ன பிற வியாபாரம்;
இருக்கும் கொஞ்ச நேரத்திலே பலரும் கொறித்தனர்!

எண்ணைப் பண்டம் ஒன்றும் வாங்காமல், பையிலே
கொண்டு சென்ற 'பிஸ்கட்'களால் தெம்பு பெற்றோம்!

எதிர்பாராத ஒரு நொடியில் கதவு திறக்க, நாங்களும்,
எதிர்பார்த்த தரிசனம் வேண்டி, வேகமாக நடந்தோம்!

'Given and kept!'.. I had a hearty laugh. Thank you for that. That was very nice and very much original! :thumb:

Those Thirumala trips were very nice. We ( about 2 or 3 of us) made them about every once in 3 to 4 months. I always loved walking during winter. Usually that whole section would be empty, seldom someone would be walking. ( not much of a commercial interest; so all the taps would be working, pouring ice cold water!). I used to walk bare chested covering myself with a thin, wet towel during winter. It used to keep me so warm by retaining my own body heat! I still remember the last time ( our son was 7 yrs old and it was winter .. January , as usual after dinner). There was no light for a large patch. In those days they were only covering the top... actually it took away the breeze... our son at one point asked me to go back since he said it was creepy!... But my wife reassured him and just the three of us kept going. That turned out to be a very nice trip. That time it was not that crowded; I still remember sitting on the stairs in front of the 'Raja Gopuram' after one 'dharshan', then suddenly deciding top go again... but this time we walked straight to the entrance and asked the temple worker to open the barrier by 'sign language!'.. we must have looked like dignitaries! He quitely opened the barrier and we walked straight in as if walking in our village temple and had a dharshan again! That was hilarious and nice too!

My dad was a medical practitioner and used to meet all types of people as his patients. One guy who wished to show off his

proficiency in English, would try to translate Tamil sentences to English in the way he wished! 'Given and kept' was coined by

my dad, to honor that guy!

Thanks a lot for sharing your nice experiences. Talking about the special dharshan... An Iyer couple who are our neighbours in

Ram's village went to Thirupathi recently and the clever lady requested one of the followers of 'Jeeyar SwamigaL', whether

she and her husband can join their group. She was advised to come in 'IyengAr kattu' saree and nAmam at a particular time

and join them. Disguising themselves properly, the couple had very peaceful dharshan of the Lord Balaji! We all know that

'ஹரியும் சிவனும் ஒண்ணு!' :thumb:

எத்தனை சின்னச் சின்ன அறைகள்; அவற்றிலே
எத்தனை நெருக்கடி, காற்றே இல்லாமல்! அங்கு

இருந்த இருக்கைகளில் எவரும் அமராமல், முன்
இருந்த மக்களைத் தள்ளியபடி நின்றனர்! அங்கே

மின் விசிறிகள் வேலை செய்யாது அடம் பிடிக்க,
தன் நிலை மறந்து மயங்கி விழுந்தாள் ஒரு பெண்!

முதலுதவி தரப்பட்டு, சிறிது இளைப்பாறிய பின்,
முதலில் நின்றிருந்த இடத்திற்கு வந்துவிட்டாள்!

i had that experience very long back in 1972.muzhakall mutichichu yerumpothu ,we can remember motta thallaikkum ,muzhankalukum mudichu .
i heard when chandra dasai or chandra pukthi is running you will visit tirupathy .without HIS call our plans will not work to have his darshan . thanks to TTD channel,i am having his darshan daily .

வேண்டினோம் கொஞ்சம் இலவசப் பிரசாதமும்!

புளியோதரையோ, லட்டுவோ நான் எதிர்பார்க்க,
எளிய பிரசாதமே விநியோகித்தபடி அமர்ந்தனர்!

சிக்கனம் வேண்டும் எக்கணமும் என்று எண்ணி,
அக்கணம் தந்தனர், சின்ன சைஸ் கற்கண்டுகளை!

அப்போதைய பசிக்கு அது உதவியது; கொஞ்சம்
அப்போதே எடுத்து வைத்தேன், மற்றவர்களுக்கு!

வெளிப்புறம் வந்தபோது மணி நான்கை நெருங்க,
துளியும் தாமதியாது எங்கள் உடமைகளைப் பெற,

அதே கடைக்குச் சென்று, அவற்றைப் பெற்ற பின்,
அதே நண்பர் குழாம் தாமதம் செய்ய, அங்கிருந்து

ஐந்து மணிக்குப் புறப்பட்டு, மலையிலிருந்து கீழே
வந்த பேருந்து, கீச்சுக் கீச்சென ஒலித்து அச்சுறுத்த,

இறையின் தயவால், கெட்டி ஆயுளுடன் நாங்கள்,
இறங்கிவிட்டோம் அறுபத்தைந்து வளைவுகளில்!

மேலே ஏறும் பாதையில் இல்லை, பல வளைவுகள்;
கீழே இறங்கும் பாதை மிகவும் அச்சுறுத்தலேதான்!

உணவே தராமல் காயவிட்டதால், தலை சுற்றலில்,
உணவு வயிற்றைப் புரட்ட வழியே இருக்கவில்லை!

ஆறு மணிக்கு மதிய உணவைச் சூடாக்கித் தந்தனர்,
மூன்று நட்சத்திர உணவகத்திலே! பசியாறினோம்!

For the past 6 or 7 years I am adopting climbing.. Not out of Bakthi or something.. I love to test my endurence.. So for O.k. But I have not visited Thirumala for past three years.. and I may do it this year..

The translation has to be done by experts and then typed out. Rev. G. U. Pope translated ThirukkuraL in English and you can find it here:
