My thought for the day - Tracheostomy!
It was 30 years ago 1987 In the month of Karthigai just prior to Bharani Deepam was in ICU for an attack of Status Asthmaticus went into a coma and was on ventilator for breathing support These machines were not sophisticated then and after 6 days I was taken off the ventilator I am JJ and a fighter and came out of a critical condition No microphone was provided I could talk closing the Tracheostomy with my thumb till the hole closed by healing Now I have small scar almost invisible
Another famous person who had Tracheostomy. I can think of is Liz Taylor!
Taylor went to Europe, awaiting production of Cleopatra. In spring of 1961, she developed a case of pneumonia, which led to an emergency tracheotomy and worldwide talk of her impending death. The swelling of sympathy was widely thought to have influenced Academy voters, who awarded Taylor her first Best Actress Oscar — for her performance in a film she loathed. Elizabeth later commented, "Any of my three previous nominations were more deserving. I knew it was a sympathy award, but I was still proud to get it." Meanwhile, Taylor's competitor Shirley MacLaine memorably quipped, "I lost to a tracheotomy!"
We Lost JJ inspite of her fight after Tracheostomy I am in tears.
