Think or sink!

Cynicism need not mean bad things.

The purpose of life according to their philosophy called Cynicism is to live a virtuous life in agreement with Nature. More than ever before, now the world has realized the need to lead a virtuous life - as close to Nature as possible.

Time to go back to Cynicism? Read on to decide by yourself!

Cynicism

Diogenes the Greek Philosopher

Cynicism in its original form, refers to the beliefs of an ancient school of Greek philosophers known as the Cynics.

The purpose of life according to their philosophy was to live a virtuous life in agreement with Nature.

This meant rejecting all conventional desires for wealth, health, power and fame and by living a simple life free from all possessions.

As reasoning creatures, people could gain happiness by rigorous training and by living in a way which was natural for humans.

They believed that the world belonged equally to everyone. Worthless customs and conventions of the society caused the miseries and suffering among people. Many of these ideas were later absorbed into Stoicism.

This philosophy was originated by the Greek Philosopher Diogenes (400 to 325 B.C)
He advocated a simple and self sufficient life as the best way to achieve happiness. His scorn for the weaknesses of mankind gave rise to the present day meaning of cynicism

God accepts anything offered with the right attitude.

God does not care for Pomp and Pride or for Show and Sound-effects!

God can look directly at our mind and thoughts-

bypassing the false words and lies we may utter.

A proverb a day to brighten the day.

269a.
Das Leben ist ständiger Kampf.
Das Leben ist kein vollständiger Sieg
269b.
Life is constant battle.
Life is not a complete victory.

On the treadmill one has to keep moving -
just to stay on it and not get thrown out of it.

It is the same thing with our life.
It is the same thing with everything we do in life.

Learning is a lifelong journey - otherwise why is Goddess of Learning
Saraswathi Devi being portrayed holding manuscript in Her hand?

One has to keep moving ahead - struggling and striving all the time,
not to get thrown out the circulation a useless.

Loneliness VS Solitude.

Often both these words are confused with each other.
They are assumed to mean one and he same thing.

They are not the same by any means.
They can't be more different actually.

Loneliness is a mental state of feeling alone.
Solitude is a physical state of being alone.

One can be part of a crowd and still feel lonely - if one does not belong there.
On can be all alone and never feel lonely - if one known how to make use of it.

Read the following and understand how deeply the social networking contributes to this negative feeling, often leading to self pity and depression!

Loneliness is the state of distress or discomfort that results when one perceives a gap between one's desires for social connection and actual experiences of it. Even some people who are surrounded by others throughout the day—or are in a long-lasting marriage—still experience a deep and pervasive loneliness.

A proverb a day to brighten the day.

270a. Was es wert ist, getan zu werden, ist es wert, gut getan zu werden.
270b. Whatever is worth doing, is worth doing well.

Some people do things just because they HAVE to it
and not because they WANT to do it.

What is the difference between these to?

The first one is the 'EnO thAnO" type of performance
yielding what is known as a 'kONal mANal ' product.

'kadanukku vElai seivathu' is a Tamil expression which later
has got translated to the lovely English word 'Loan Work!'

If anything is worth doing at all, it is certainly worth doing well.
Otherwise do not do it at all!
No more half-hearted attempts on unwanted ventures!

footnotes:-
Was = What
es wert ist = is worth
zu getan werden = to be done
ist es wert = is worth
zu getan werden = to be done
gut = well.

தமிழ்க் கொலை ?

ஒளவையார் => அவ்வையார்
கௌரவம் => கவுரவம்
எங்கே => யென்கே
அனைத்தும் => அணைத்தும்

A proverb a day to brighten the day.

271a. Verschieben Sie niemals die gute Tat, die Sie heute tun können, auf morgen.
271b. Never postpone until tomorrow, the good deed you can do today.

Man tries to postpone the good acts born out of good intentions- until they disappear.
Human mind is fickle. The occasional outburst o goodness may be overruled by the inherent badness - if not by wickedness.

"nandrE sei! adhuvum indrE sei!"

footnotes:-
Sie = You
niemals = never
Verschieben = postpone
auf morgen = until tomorrow
die = the
gute = good
Tat = deed
die = which
Sie = you
können = can
tun = do

Do find the word order jumbled in these two languages?
Well! That is the super specialty of The German language! :)

Like Sanskrit it has a very flexible word order but for two conditions.
1. The Verb must form the second element of the sentence.
2. The Subject must be in a romantic relationship with the verb!
[ = These two must be close together always in any sentence.]

In commands and Imperatives, the Verb appears first - as in this sentence!
So the subject had to appear in this sentence just after the verb.

Naughty Poems

Poems woven from rhyming words.

Naughty poems long and short

Time is supposed to e a continuous stream flowing eternally. This is what supports the concept of time travel back to the past or to the future.

At times working backwards is easier than working in the forward direction. When unable to find the way to the center of a maze, we work backwards. It is much more easier to come out of the maze - if we start from the center.

This is a similar attempt in writing simple English poetry. Instead of starting with a theme and going searching for words which rhyme perfectly, I did the converse.

I got all the rhyming words and tried to weave them into a poem - with a rational and acceptable theme - to the best of my ability.

These poems are naughty - not because of their theme - but since they were made differently. These poems had to be long or short - depending on the number or rhyming words at my disposal.

Some of the poems are really good and some are little weird. Since it is an experiment, I request you to enter the blog with a lenient and open mind and try to enjoy my logical and mathematical creations.

A proverb a day to brighten the day.

273a. Ein alter Fuchs braucht keine Lehrer.

The fox has lived long enough to become old -
because it knew all the tricks needed for survival.

Naturally it does not need to learn anything new.
So it does not need a teacher.

footnotes:
Ein = An
alter = old
Fuchs = fox
braucht = needs
keine = no
Lehrer = tutor/ teacher.

A proverb a day to brighten the day.

274a. Dichter werden geboren. Redner werden gemacht.
274b. Poets have to be born. Orators have to be made.

Some talents must be inherent and inborn.
Some others can be taught by training.

under a proper teacher, the person will reach the pinnacle of success.

footnotes:-
Dichter = Poets
werden = have to
geboren = be born.

A proverb a day to brighten the day.

275b. Once bitten, twice shy.

Experience is a great teacher.
It runs a very costly school.

But some people will learn nowhere else.
Some other do not learn even from Experience!

No footnotes since the same idea is being conveyed both in German and English - but it is not by actual word for word translation.

A proverb a day to brighten the day.

277a.
Eine vergebene Verletzung ist besser als eine gerächte Verletzung.
Eine vergessene Verletzung ist besser als eine vergebene Verletzung.

277b.
An injury forgiven is better than an injury revenged.
An injury forgotten is better than an injury forgiven.

To one who wants to avenge an injury, there is no peace of mind.
To one who always remembers the injury, the wound remains raw and never heals.

That old man is weird!
Nothing does satisfy him.

He believed he was in the center of the Universe.
He believed that everyone was created ONLY to serve him.

He wanted variety in everything he ate, he drank and he put on.
He will not compromise on his personal comforts and choices!

That Millions were losing their jobs and thousands of people
were dying everyday, did not affect him in the least.

How can he be given the 'rude awakening' he needs so badly?

A proverb a day to brighten the day.

278a. Eine Lüge hat kurze Beine. Wie kommt es, dass es schneller und weiter geht als die langbeinige Wahrheit?

278b. A lie has short legs. How come it travels faster and farther than the long legged truth?

Lies are loud and gaudy - in spite of being short legged!
Truths are soft and classy - in addition to being long legged!

So even as the Truth mumbles softly and respectfully,
the Lie screams off its head and spreads faster like fire.

footnotes:-
Eine = A

kommt es = is it
dass = that
es = it
