Think or sink!

you know the compensation in terms of money is a big attraction.

these boys work 12 hours a day and follow time of US and western countries where their clients are located.

most get burnt out by 35 yrs and become drop outs

most have a poor work-homelife balance

their marriage often go on the rocks

it is a poor lifestyle

Everything (and probably everyone too) has a price tag attached!! :tsk:

It has been proved recently that sleep at night is essential for good health.

Night shifts must not be compulsory but given as option to the Owls

without forcing the Larks to stay up all night and ruin their precious health!

In case you wonder what happens to me after 2 P.M. :bolt:

I type new poems and translations to be posted in my blog.

I post them and reply to the comments and fan mails. :)

At night I sit and write new poems for the blogs.
The time in between these is used up in the monotonous household chores!!! :clock:

Two of the many tell tale symptoms of lying is
giving more info than necessary and
repeating something to stress a point.

I could see through both these today.
I passed by the house of my good friend.
Her commander-in-chief was sitting outside.

He wanted his wife to see me - her friend-
in my today's avatar (according to him).

By the time we passed by their house again,
she too was standing outside - watching the road.

I bet he wanted her to see me in my
blue salwar suit and blue sportsman's cap!

An Avvaiyar in disguise???

She kept insisting that she came out ONLY
to give a cup of coffee for her lord and god.

BUT I can hear and see words and deeds
done behind my back as well as in my front!!! :thumb:

the lady might have felt jealous seeing you in exotic costume which you had the freedom to wear

many indian ladies when they go abroad wear clothes which they may not dare to do in india

these are traditional ladies liking western wears and would not risk disapproval of relatives and friends in india

they breathe fresh air abroad ,paint the foreign cities red and return to their conventional life here.

similarly , TB men smoke ,drink and take non veg food outside the home and act as pious tee totallers wearing their caste marks and doing poojas to please their wives.

this double life can be taxing at times.lol

I bet she was and is and will be jealous!

We both are of the same age, same qualification and have the same kind of relatives (natural and by marriage)

The main difference are that she has 3 sons while I have 2.

Another difference is I do what I think is best for me but she dares not.

At my age, physical conditions and obesity, I can't risk a fall or a tumble.

Traveling in the tricky T junctions and bumpy roads in Coimbatore
(which is no better than an excavation site looking for ancient artifacts)

on a Hydher-kaalaththu-two-wheeler
(my mom's favorite expression to describe our rickety noisy scooter)

can be more risky than romantic (the way you imagine it to be). :fear:

So for practical reasons I wear this convenience-dress
which is made out of a sari and looks almost like a sari -
unless people notice the two separate legs below the knee level!

Now I have reached the stage mentally to retort to anyone
who expects me to be slim and trim like a
20+ year old girl in the marriage market
by saying "Don't LOOK below my face / neck!" :nono:

P.S

We can go for a new noiseless speeding scooter!

But I do not want to encourage two wheeler rides -
when he has problem in hearing-

and I am as fragile as a round bottomed glass flask (!)
(in the eyes of my friends and well wishers )
or a white pumpkin (in the eyes of my eternal critics)

He believes that autos and call taxis are sheer luxuries!!! :(

Some drugs are really wonderful! :clap2:
Half a tablet of a wonder drug taken before supper
has brought down my fasting sugar level in 5 days
from sky high to the normal ground level! :)

Poor mom awaits the call only to get disappointed!

Mom must learn and give a missed call, as a reminder. May help sometimes. Giving or receiving call at fixed times (or at inconvenient times) is less of a bother now with pause/record facility in DTH. No missed/avoided calls and no missed lines/scenes!

MOM is sliding back in to her second childhood deeper and deeper.
Either she is asleep or she can't hear in the din of the traffic!
Never does a moment pass without my praying for her good health.
Thoughts matter as much (if not more than) words.

What is the wonder drug; please share if there is no restriction.

Dear Mr. Sarang,

I was not sure whether anyone wanted to know the name of this medicine.

It is Glypride1 - a tiny oval shaped white colored tablet.

I used to take one tablet in the morning 45 minutes before my brunch

and follow the brunch with Glyciphage 500 mgm

(plus the other medicines on life-time-contract for other complaints).

Since both my fasting and P.P. sugar values were almost equal

(and in 160+ range), my doctor brother increased the dose of

Glyopride1, by half a tablet to be taken before supper.

Miraculously the fasting sugar has dropped from 164 to 110 today.

Just now I got the report of P.P.sugar value which has also dropped to 118!

I was worrying whether I will have to change over to more serious medicines

which also invariably cause increase in weight!

P.S.

Please consult your own doctor before changing the medicine or the dosage

since different medicines suit different persons!

Also wrong combination of medicines should not be taken together. :nono:

P.S. 2.

I also take Atorva 5 mgm one hour before before

and 750 mgm of Glyciphage after my frugal supper!

Whether or not these control the sugar, they sure make

tiny mice race inside my tummy if I wake up at night!

(meaning I become hungry in the middle of the night) :hungry:

BUT no midnight raid on anything I promise!

I work on Devi Bhaagavatam blog - whenever I am having any free time.

I will be completing the eighth Skanda tomorrow (or the day after.)

I am writing the Ninth Skanda and completed ~70 poems til today.

All these divine activities will bless all our families -

including those who read them regularly!

After my eye sight was miraculously restored to almost normal sight,

my faith in what I do and how I spend my time has increased many folds.

I may not talk on phone like the others but be assured

I am talking about God to everyone, every where

and for many more years to come!

I shall post the scary details of the 28 Hells today

in the literature section, in the Poem thread.

I shall post the Devi worship which can protect us

from the life in HELL - as soon as it is ready!

Dear Sis,

This is not to scare you! :nono:

I will be the happiest person if your eye sight becomes normal by God's grace. :)

But there are a few changes when a person develops cataract in the eyes.

Here are two of the warnings:

1. A tendency to become more near-sighted because of the increasing density of the lens.

2. Frequent changes of prescription glasses.

Do not think too much about being diabetic .

fasting and PP nos of 120 odd are excellent.

only do not overdo it .

Always carry a lump of sugar wherever you go

if you feel giddy at any time , pop the sugar.

Also be careful to ensure no scratches on your person . it takes a long time to heal physical wounds if any'

I am a diabetic myself.

I hardly ever check my nos. may be once in six months are so.

also it is important to eat at regular times and frequently five ,six times a day little every time

never deny yourself food if you happen to feel hungry at night. also do not eat left overs in order they are not wasted. it is the worst that housewives do

try walking regularly once a day . atleast a kilometre.

do it as a ritual like you pray. you owe it to yourself

I have lived with diabetis for over fifteen years

Now I manage it pretty well

Pl do not worry about cataract either

last couple of years doctors have been talking about the same to me

I have short sight

I quietly stopped wearing specs when it was -2.5 and --1-5 more than a decade back.

I do carry a pair of specs which I take out when I have to see a movie in cinema hall or see some attractive people.lol

otherwise eyesight is OK. it has become better over the years

basic thing is self acceptance and being happy without worries all the time

old scooter with mate at the back is fine . very romantic

let others on the roads worry about you driving with gay abandon

I have also one old scooter . I am unable to find anyone who would be ready to take it from me

also I have a sentimental attachment . I have taken rides with wife and two small kids some 20 + years back, also knocked over one four legged animal on an evening

when it was dark and collected company accident insurance for myself

pl do not mind my suggestions

I cannot help it . you are my victim today.lol

Dear VR ji,

I had no idea there was a Ramayan version called Anjaneyaramayanam till I saw it in India this time.

The original version is actually Telugu but the version I am reading is Sanskrit and I find this Anjaneyaramayanam written in a very dramatic Mega Serial manner.

Its as if each character comes alive when you read it as if you are witnessing it in real.

Really an interesting read..right now I am at the aranyakandha where Ravan is pissed mad seeing an injured Surphanaka!

Dear VR ji,

Failing eye sight in a Diabetic isnt always entirely due to Cataract.

It could also indicate microvascular involvement..what is known as Diabetic Retinopathy.

Every diabetic should get their eyes dilated and checked by an Opthalmologist at least once a year.

Dear Renu,

I probably stated to become a diabetic when my fasting sugar was found to be 110 in 1998 - just before our very first trip to USA.

I did not believe that I could be a diabetic nor the doctors tell me to get it checked up.

Looking back NOW, I am able to relate the other symptoms which I learned while attending a Diabetic awareness camp held recently.

My Shoulders started getting frozen. The neck region appears darker in some of the photos taken during that period. Supposed to be another symptom of diabetes!

I neglected the elevated sugar level gloriously and lived on eating sugar and sweets till I ended up passing blood in urine after attending a wedding in 2010.

It was declared as Diabetes 2- the non insulin dependent type.

My eye pressure would hurt the inside of my eye balls.

I have got my eyes tested once every three months since then - spending anything up to 3K during every check up!

The eye pressure was checked, the eye power was checked, Field Test was done to identify and graph the blind spots, Corneal thickness was measured, and OTC was performed to study the retina.

I used to imagine a Damocles' sword dangling on my head.

Now the eye pressure had come down from 26 to 16. So no more Field Test, Corneal thickness measurement and OTC. However I go once in 3 months and get my eyes dilated, dyed and looked into from every angle.

Everything in the body is interconnected. How I wish someone will look at us as a whole unit and treat us instead of treating part by part.

dear Renu,
The writer of the epics were SEERS. They could see the things and events happening right in front of their eyes - either due their fertile imagination or due to the grace of god who wanted the details to be as authentic as possible.
I want to read how Sita slights the mighty RAvaN by placing a blade of grass in between them and addressing it as if it were RAvaN. :)

Dear Mr. Krish,

I love to be the victim of a long lecture born out of care and concern. :)

I have exhausted my quota of walking for this birth.

Long back my brother told me with frank honesty that

I may be in my 50s but my knees were 30 years older than me. :(

I can't walk long distances without my knees swelling up like pillars.

I am told to do either floor exercises ( non weight bearing)

or swim or do exercises in the pool.

I am doing yoga in the early mornings for about an hour.

Some of the postures I used to do have become impossible for me.

But still I have my routine to keep all the joints supple and the body

flexible. I have realized that feeling healthy DOES NOT depend on the

weight of the person but his/ her flexibility.

Yesterday I saw an old lady thin as a pencil and very tall. She must weigh

40 to 50 K.G utmost. She came to the steps leading to our flat and stood

still for a few minutes - the same way I would do without my stick!

I told her to get hold of a stick so that she can negotiates the steps and

slopes easily in the future.

But a woman will NOT get hold of a stick - not until she really really has

to - after being warned by her doctor or her family members who fear

that she may suffer a bad / fatal fall !

dear Raji,
I have a good ophtolmologist who is genuinely interested in my welfare and encourages me to write more and more. He knows how much I need my vision and I have regular check ups under his care.
Miracles do happen- if we are willing to believe in them.
