Our temple priest is high tech - encouraging people to do pooja from whichever state/ country they live in now !

He does the sankalpam on the mobile, lets the karthaa listen to the archanai, gives the aaseervaadham on the mobile, and send the photo of Devi with all the special floral decoration by Watts app.

Small wonder more people who have left this colony still perform the pooja than those who are still living here!

Not having possessed many good things in life is something bad.

But to have lost all that one had is even worse.

I found out the cause why the once rich family is reduced to poverty in a sequence of events.

The husband has had no formal education but knew enough about the gold jewelry business.

The wife is a graduate and believed that her husband is smart enough to d everything correctly.

Losing the gold advanced to the goldsmith was the cruel play of fate.

But trying to build an apartment without the necessary background knowledge was suicidal.

Lack of formal education and assumption that the little knowledge he had meant a lot was the man's fault.

Words of ancient wisdom say

அகல உழுவதிலும் ஆழ உழு!

Now they are pinning hope on their son to get a good job with a good salary in the campus selection.

Now wise men advocate the same after learning the fact in the hard way!

One is economical and Eco friendly. The other is a foe both to the purse and the earth!

Dare Devil Dame! :cool:???

While waiting for two hours in the hall, we were forced to overhear the
interviews of several people, since they were on a mike.

A dame in the 55+ range of age came alone for the interview.

After the finger prints were taken we were all sent to the big hall.

The VISA officer asked her very nicely,

"Have you had your finger prints taken while in USA?"

The lady said "NO!"

He asked her again, "Did you have any problem with the US police?"

She said "NO!" without batting an eyelid.

He asked her again, "While you were a USA last time did you have any trouble with the law?

Again her answer was a "NO!"

The whole cycle was repeated three times at random order and the lady held her ground and kept on saying NO each and every time she was questioned.

Then the VISA officer told her,

"Sorry I can' t approve your VISA. You have had trouble with Law while at USA. You had your finger prints taken. I asked you three times nicely.
All the three times you LIED. You may go now!" :pout:

It was revelation to me!!! He did not mind her fingerprints being taken!
He did not mind her getting into trouble with the law. But definitely he minded her persistent and cool lies.

I remembered my son repeatedly telling us every time,

" Never tell a lie. If you do not know say so! Do not try to guess the answer and utter falsehood! :nono:

So the thing most detested in USA is a lie! :lie:

And it is being challenged!!
 
It has been my long time wish to sing AbhirAmi Andhadhi in our temple.
But it might never happen! :(
Each of these ladies has an eternally wagging tongue.
If and when they stop singing they will start chatting.
Still I managed to sing the first 21 verses and the las 6 verses.
Today I had presented each of them with a copy of AndhAdi.
Since their eyes were focused on the book silence prevailed.
But tomorrow will be another story since they will not carry this tiny book to temple everyday.
It will again become singing VS chatting!
 
A weird equation I learned today!

I always firmly believe that
one does the help must NOT remember it and
one who received the help must NOT forget it!
But always the contrary seems to be happening!!! :(
Recipients do not Remember and Givers Gloat over it!

It finally happened today!

I have always been scared and worried when my elder son and family go over to the Eastern hemisphere for 3 + months during the summer vacation.

The brilliant postman would leave a note on the post box saying ,"The house is locked".
Thankfully he would JUST stop short of saying "So welcome to help yourselves!"

So today when they had gone out briefly someoe has broken into the house and took some valuables and some credit cards.

So it is a race with time and with them before they can misuse the card!

Had this happened when they were on a vacation the whole house
might have got stripped of all its contents and no one will be any wiser! :scared:

I still think things will be safer if NOT kept in the locker/ safe - since there is where the thief

hopes to find all the valuables - saving him the time and energy needed to locate them

otherwise!

So I think the safest place for the valuables will be in a room far away from the bedroom

and in a place where no one will ever guess or think of look at!

Earning and saving money is difficult and takes a long time and hard work.

Blowing money - especially that of someone else - is the easiest thing to do!

So it is hardly surprising that one who gets hold of another person's credit card

makes a bee line to the nearest chain of big stores and fulfils his long pending

long wish list! :(
 
When the credit card is used for buying costly things by persons appearing to be shady characters

the shops / malls may follow these steps.

1. Ask for the photo I. D with the name and address of the person using the card.

2. Verify the authenticity of the hieroglyphics signature - resembling the failed-polygraph test!

In a country where I. D thefts and credit card thefts are so common,

I am sure the shops must be more careful in dealing with purchases involving large sums of money.
