In the past 2 decades or so the image of U.S has taken a nosedive. It can now only force admiration and not earn it. It started with 9/11 attack and for some reason the downfall started there and continued. It accelerated with Trump and Biden presidency and is at a nadir now. I wonder how low can It get. There used to be a time when admiration was genuine and people including myself longed to go there. But it seems it is firmly history now and country is probably paying for its innumerable misadventures.

It would be naive to think that U.S was epitome of good before 9/11 but at least it was able to maintain the right image. Lost that due to blatant misdeeds and pronouncements.
I always used to wonder. Why don't people use their power and position of strength to do good? Maybe a human flaw where power corrupts almost everybody. That's what happens to people in immense power who finally dig their own grave.

Having said the above here I expressed the ideal though pragmatism is different. The only reason I am soft is because I believe people are not in self control when they do evil acts. But others cannot suffer because of that. A righteous approach would be to condemn and deter evil while at the same time work for its self improvement.

Evil in my philosophy is work of Maya which is also divine but those called evil learn spiritual truths gradually focused on materialism. Materialism is required for the learing process to be complete.
Frankly evil acts and thoughts either provoke laughter or pity in me and tends towards objectivity when spirituality in me is at peak and degrades into anger when i vent that in my spiritual energy thread.
