Yesterday Malaysia released a malay movie which is the remake of Karthi starrer Tamil movie Kaithi.
Karthi was in Malaysia to promote the movie.
So far so good.
The malay version is titled Banduan.
Banduan means prisoner.
The interesting thing is..the Tamil word Kaithi stems from the Arabic word Qaid..which means locked up/ bound...and the Malay word Banduan stems from the Sanskrit word bandh( locked/ bound/captive).
Strange but true..Tamil uses an Arabic origin word and Malay uses a Sanskrit origin word.
