Om namo Narayanaya.
Suprabatam. Subhamastu. I am practicing Vedic astrology as well as Vaastu, only for those who are desperate. Not a commercial astrologer. My opinion: It's not correct to say bad about the age-old, well scripted Vaastu Sastra. If one is an atheist, let him believe that there is no god. No problem to the believers. However, it is not good to insist others to believe that there is no god (I will say supernatural power) or say X is correct and Y is wrong. Life is sustaining on hopes and believes. Similarly, if nothing bad has happened for a few with bad Vaastu, does not mean Vaastu sastra should be avoided. If it is unavoidable to do Vaastu Nivarti, pray almighty for healthy & safe living. If there is a scope, it is better to follow Vaastu rules. As a professional high-tech research scientist, I can say that Vaastu implies good cross ventilation, well aerated, surya rays entering the house, well lighted, nodal point of the house, Brahma sthanam - the central part of the house, is well connected from all corners, the sewage or bad odours should not be at the entrance or physically visible in front of the maindoor, main entrance right at the junction of roads (logically implies, avoiding direct physical visibility from far off distance & safety: as main door cannot be kept all the time closed), etc. There isca proverb, East or west, a house is best. North is preferred in Andhra and other states, East in Tamilnadu, West is also a accepted by many. However, south is avoided because it's the direction of Lord Yamarajan. However, for those who are Mesha or Vrichika Rasi (stars), Mars is the ruling planet and the lord is Subrahmanyar, who is called as Thenmugha kadavul (தென் முக கடவுள்), Lord of South. Yes, for those who are Arian or Scorpian, south facing house may not give major problems. So, individual's (mainly the owner, especially the head lady of the house / owner's wife's) astrology is to be studied. Again, the Vaastu sastra was originally (olden days) followed for the construction of temples, reservoirs, City entrance, etc. If practiced for individual houses, then the sastra may be followed. No harm, as such. But, today, extrapolations are made for multi-storied Apartments, which itself is a question, not properly answered or resolved by vaastu experts. Having toilet or bathroom, inside a house itself is a vaastu dosham. Can we have them, especially in a flat, away from the living space? Kitchen should be well lighted and aerated without toilet or bathroom door opening anywhere near it's periphery. Can we comply??? Eating space (Dining Table) should be separated from cooking space. Can we comply? So, we are living in a constricted and strained environment, where finance, affordability and accessibility to facilities are of paramount importance. Therefore, let's follow Vaastu maximum feasible (not saying possible) but be practical too. Need not be rigid and start breaking the main structure and make it weak for sustainability. The we cannot opt for neighbours in modern times, let us not fight for Vaastu compliant residence, if other prime facilities are amenable and ladies and children have day to day facilities and hospital nearby. Temple may be far off but school, office, transport, vegetable and provision shops, medical facilities, cleanliness of surrounding, above all the water availability are to be taken account of and preferred. No house in any place can have 100% vaastu, because our country is itself has in its North lofty east-west trending Himalayan mountain, which is not good by Vaastu. So, believe in some superpower (almighty, I may call it as God) and do good deeds, follow dharma, help the needy, feed the poor, take care of desperate elders, love children, respect women, practice harmony, get rid of hatred, share natural resources, like water & food, do not waste food, keep environment clean, plant trees, etc. If one follows these, the Vaastu Lord (today, the 3rd June 2025 is the vaastu day) will bless not only the owner but all creations. Let's be more friendly than other aspects. However, I don't mean that our Vedic Sastras are to be alienated in the name of modernity and self comforts. Try to be comfortable but never-ever think all the time we can be having life in a comfortable zone. It's Kaliyugam, so if an individual decides I will not do adharma karyam, one adharmi is less in this world. Live in peace and let others too live in peace. Sarve bhavantu sukhinaH. Practice and follow this Vaastu rules. If anyone wishes to consult me, please contact through WhatsApp and send first a sms with name, place and what help you need from me. Jayam, Arogyam & Subhiksham bhavantu. शुभं भूयात्। Jai Shri Ram. SriSriRamanujacharyasya dasa, Adiyen Vasudevan Rajagopalan Iyengar
