Moral decay - condoning bad behaviour

We spent the last 5 days in a mini-Gita camp, in a beautiful residential facility. The facility has been enhanced with new Auditorium and Dining hall.

The lectures were good, the discussions were the usual.
The disheartening observation came from the Trustees meeting.
On Sunday nearly 500 people came for lunch, about 95% were people of Indian origin. Fortunately, they have great cooking staff and tremendous dining hall to accommodates all in two sessions.

The total number of residential attendees was 115, who paid for the session, there were 65 children attending the separate children’s camp. Assuming non-attending spouses to be 50.
There were 10 non-resident attendees.
Let us say, 20 staff and volunteers.
The total number of people for lunch should be 260 + Sunday temple attendees say 40, that brings in the total to 300.

What was this influx of 200 for lunch?
We were told that there is an outlet mall nearby, people come for the shopping and come to the camp for free food and carry some for the return trip home. It is a sad fact.

They do not contribute financially or participate in the activities of the camp. They do not contribute to the god (temple) either.

What are they? Freeloaders, professional thieves, Conmen, cheaters.

That is why I am against charity for undeserving people.
There is a thread about Agraharams, where people are asked to contribute to resettling Brahmins who sold their land and moved out of Agraharam.

People should have consequences of their actions, if you condone bad behavior it will keep perpetuating itself.

They are gate crashing....utterly lacking ethics.

When it comes to food ,Gita devotees should not mind feeding all those who want it.

Feeding all who want to be fed is better than any lessons from gita or any holy book.

ISKCON maintains the best kitchens all over india.

It is totally free for all those visiting the temple.

Yes, they too provide free food (i do not agree with that as we have to make up the shortfalls), but what about the people who steal food?
But the recommendation is ingenious. The original post was not against free food, it was a commentary on the moral values of the moochers, who are stealing food without guilt.
Why do we have laws, why do you not give everything you possess to "poor"?
In the USA and UK, the ISKON runs vegetarian canteens, not charities. It might be different in India.
They too expect you to contribute if you can and assume that the majority of people contribute.

Ultimately, there are "NO FREE LUNCHES", someone pays, even if they are not in the public eye.

More than Gita, it is high time we teach the ethical values of Sri Ramayana as taught by our Jeeyars and Acharyas. From it we learn how our lack of values have degraded us to the level of rakshasas.
