Dear Fellow Esteemed Tamil Brahmin Community,
I consider it a great priivilege to be with you all joining this wonderful community web. Let us all join our hands strongly to protect and upkeep our tradition, customs and strength to show our pioneer commitment to entire human unity spread in various part of this universe. My interest - Geeta Yagna - Manaseeka Guru Pujya Shri The Great Pathamadai Shri Swami Sivananda Maharaj of Rishikesh whose books enabled me to look within a different 'Bala'.
Please share with me your wonderful thoughts whenever you feel you can. Look forward to greater association with you all and with respectful regards, Bala Subramanian, M.S. - currently in Muscat, Oman and likely to return to Chennai mid October for permanent stay.

Namaskarams to All,

I have just joined the forum. I am a IT consultant based in Hosur.
Now a days I could see a lot a change in brahmin community in terms of
culture. Intercaste marriages, Alchohol, Smoking and eating non - vegetarian
etc..

My view point is not to argue whether this is right or wrong but the root cause
we forget our culture and tradition. Today how many of us are chaunting pasurams
of Azhwars and Nayanmars... When we forget our mother tongue naturally we will be
loosing all these.. if we don't teach the language to the next generation certainly
the tamil brahmin identity will not be there after 20 years.

The co-existence of brahmins within India depends on what the values are passed to each subsequent generations...one should know the Guru charitra's (like Ramana
Seshadri swamigal, Mahaperiyaval).. Reciting pasurams, pathigams and anthadhi
visiting new temples once in a year atleast a year. Understanding the histories/stories
of the temples (instead of mere mechanical visit). More integrity within family and society...

This is my humble opinion...

Halo Sir,
Pranams and welcome

you are right

Thanks. When we do poojas during festivals we use Sanskrit but on a regular Pooja or prayers I used to run the 'Dharmapuram Swaminathan's ' Pathikams and Sree sooktham CD's so that in my family everybody used to catch the recitals very easily within a month.

When you chanunt 'Lalitha Sahasranamam' on full moon day I feel
the original Sanskrit CD's are better as you don't get Tamil option
there. My point is not to Overshadow sanskrit by tamil but while
taking braminism to next gen certainly my methodology will help. Ofcourse, the resultant effect is important than the language which I am striving for. when people chaunt tamil pasurams/pathikams atleast they can know 20 to 40% meaning if they have studied Tamil as one of the subject. Also, we can share the benefits to other communities if we rely on Tamil as we can share the benefits of
doing the 'Gnanasambandhars' pathigams. So, that we live with others in a congenial atmosphere than ever,

Thanx
mkaushikin
