Today is the anniversary of the martyrdom of Gandhiji. Let us pay our respectful homage to this great soul who relentlessly fought for the dignity and rights of the oppressed and gave his life on this day 70 years ago.

Yes sir, you are right.
But in today's India who is Gandhiji? There was a post expressing that Gandhiji's picture should be removed from currency notes. Such is the sad state.

Most unfortunate. I belong to the generation which had witnessed the trials and tribulations faced by leaders during the freedom struggle. A great leader that he was had he desired so Gandhiji would have occupied any position of honor in free India, but he preferred none and continued his struggle to douse the fire created by partition of the Country and uplift the needy and struggled to remove the age old prejudices in the name of caste and religion. Ultimately he gave his life for for the noble cause.
It was George Bernard Shaw who said the following words on Gandhiji's death

"It shows how dangerous it is to be too good."
