Let’s Take A Moment To Thank And Understand How The Bankers Across The Country Are Working Tirelessly

Post the announcement on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on demonetising Rs. 500 and Rs. 1,000 notes, there has been a rush amongst customers to get their existing currency notes exchanged.

In an effort to provide convenience to the customers, banks and bankers across the country are working under tremendous pressure to ensure smooth and hassle free transactions over the next few weeks. To facilitate the current situation, ICICI Bank has taken several steps to ensure that customers continue their day-to-day activities without any disruption.

Some of the steps that ICICI Bank has taken to ensure that all transactions are seamless, are as follows:
·
1. All branches will be open on Sunday, November 13, 2016

Well done banks! They have risen to the occasion admirably! They are putting more than 12 hours of work, managing crowds, clarifying queries patiently! Let us salute these Bankers! Added to that they will have no holidays till Dec 30 and have to work during week end too!

Certainly the staff of Banks deserve our gratitude for their sincerity and strain by discharging the difficult job of helping the nation in erradication of black money.
Thank you friends,

[h=1]Banks may hire retired staff to deal with cash rush: Finance Ministry[/h][h=2]"We are happy that the government has addressed some of the issues raised by us," All India Bank Employees' Association General Secretary C H Venkatachalam said in a statement.[/h]
The finance ministry on Tuesday asked banks to consider engaging retired employees to deal with the unprecedented rush for exchange of invalid currency notes and ease pressure on existing staff. In a letter written to Indian Banks’ Association (IBA), the financial services department of the finance ministry said it should look into issues, particularly employment of retired bank staff and payment of remuneration and instruct the banks suitably at the earliest.

“In the event of extra business hours implemented to cope up with the situation, banks may require to make deployment plan of staff on shift basis so that the same person does not work for continuous long hours,” it said.

Praising commendable work done by the banking fraternity, it said banks may plan and support the officers and employees working in late hours, particularly the safety and security of women employees, with arrangements for food and conveyance.

It is indeed great to see the cooperation of the Management and the employees to help the common people in the Government's efforts for the erradication of black money.

Almost 90 per cent of the old notes have been extracted from the ATMs.

The ATM withdrawal limit was set to ease out money dispensation.

As serpentine queues grow outside the ATMs, a network of 40,000 trained men and women are working round the clock to replenish cash in them.
It is 1 pm and Rituraj Sinha, president of Cash Logistics Association of India, the body which has undertaken the task to re-fill the cash requirement in ATMs, has been awake for the past 72 hours.
"We told employees to come with their toothbrush and change to office, it's a massive task to ensure 2.2 lakh ATMs in 650 districts are fully functional for the public," Rituraj Sinha told India Today.
While total estimate of old currency in circulation is 22 lakh crore, the ATMs have around 14 lakh crore old notes.
"Our first task is to withdraw the old 500 and 1000 currency in the ATMs. We have now been able to extract almost 90 per cent of such notes. But the next step is to re-fill the ATMs. Each ATM has up to Rs 40 lakh cash capacity, but since we can for now only put Rs 100 notes, this capacity is reduced to Rs 10 lakh cash," said Rituraj Sinha.
The 8,800 cash vans, which were supplying notes to 25,000 ATMs per day, are now speeding to meet the shortfall of 72,000 ATMs per day.
"By the time we fill one ATM in 20 minutes, it gets dry in 3 hours. Footfall in each ATM has gone up from 100 to 3000 people per day. We are facing shortfall of over 40,000 trained men. The problem is you can't hire anyone, due to the sensitive business, without a proper background check and a prior approval by banks," Sinha said.
Sources in the Finance Ministry have told India Today that while the ATM withdrawal limit was set to ease out money dispensation, it will take one more week to re-configure each ATM to give out higher denomination notes.
For now, the ATMs which have a withdrawal limit of Rs 2000 per day, for the next week will not be dispensing new notes of Rs 500 and Rs 2000.
"When the decision was announced, deputy RBI governor in a meeting told us that this is a service to the nation. Mr Gandhi told us to set aside all the limitations and this is what we are trying to do," Rituraj Sinha told India Today before ducking back to the central monitoring room to get a bi-hourly update of the ATM refill drive across the nation.

This is the spirit and I salute such staff for their attitude and selfless service

Tough times, but thank you: A bank employee's touching note to customers

He even shared pictures of the long queues in front of the bank

A group of youngsters have stepped forward to control the crowds. Many villagers brought us food, even without us asking, as we work late into the night. Though they are themselves tired and restless, they do their best to cooperate with us," he writes.

As a bank officer, he believes he is bound by his duty, rather than sit and bother about whether the sudden decision to ban Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes by the Centre was called for or not.

“Every morning, I start by listening to the complaints, worries and anxieties over this issue. When i consider their problems, mine does not seem very important,” he adds.

He does not forget to mention his gratitude to the supporting staff too. “They have worked harder than I do. By the time, they finish counting the notes deposited, the clock may have already struck midnight. It is because of their sincerity that villagers shower us with respect and love,” he says.

Amidst Demonetisation Chaos, This Banker Is Working With Her Seven-Month-Old Daughter In Her Lap
haETUHYATHT-750x500.jpg.pagespeed.ce.I_U-aoNpce.jpg

While millions have been driven out of their homes, offices, shops and farms to queue up for exchanging the scrapped currency notes, the bankers have been working non-stop without any hesitation to serve all the customers in time and as fast as they can. The story of a female employee from Khagaria district, Bihar working with her seven-month-old daughter next to her is a splendid example of the spirit shown by the bankers at this difficult time.

Kanchan, who works with the Allahabad Bank comes to work every day on time with her daughter. She is helping people with their transactions while also taking care of her baby girl. People at her counter see the little girl wrapped in a shawl, resting while her mother is busy doing the transactions for the customers.

Everyone is impressed with Kanchan’s spirit of work. While speaking to Nai Dunia, Kanchan said that her priority is to help people first and that she can rest afterwards. She further added that this is the time that the nation needs everyone to stand and work together. So all the bankers should fulfil their duties with loyalty.
