After Patel's and Kapus we now have Jats fighting for inclusion in OBC...Where are we heading....Scrap all reservations and let 100% be on merit and economic criterion! Let the seeds of hate be replaced by bonds of love!!

[h=1]Jat leaders reject Haryana govt offer, agitation to continue[/h]

February 20, 2016

Demanding the inclusion of the Jats in the OBC category, agitating Jat leaders have rejected the offer made by Haryana government and asserted that their agitation would continue till their demand is met.

"There is no solid offer made by Haryana government. BJP government is just trying to befool Jats as its intentions with regard to giving reservation to Jats is not clean," All India Jat Aarakshan Sangarsh Samiti's national president, Yashapal Malik said.

After holding an all party meeting here, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said the state government will prepare a draft Bill for giving reservation to Jats and suggestions have also been sought from all parties in this regard.

Khattar, earlier in the day, said the Government has "positive approach" on Jats' demand and if all parties agree, then the government would bring a Bill in the ensuing session of Haryana Vidhan Sabha.

What is happening in the name of reservation is is most unfortunate. At this rate, the Country does not need outsiders to divide us. Thanks to the caste Politics,we ourselves in the name of Caste Reservation do the damage. All Political Parties should jointly declare the abolition of all reservations in the name of Caste, including for SC/ST and replace it with economic criteria.

hi

then indian democracy will not work....indian political parties are based on caste.....ONLY DICTACTOR RULE IN INDIA CAN DO....country

got freedom based on religion/caste.....the country's partition based on religion/caste....the states are based on language....

its very confused and complicated issue....

This is the beginning of a larger crisis this Governmet has to face .

Caste should be abolished. Then there would be no question of caste based reservations.

A very intricate and delicate matter indeed; should then, the reservation for minorities be also abolished?

Abolishing reservation would definitely lead to riots on a massive scale with the party (in rule) being booted out by its own MLAs and MPs.

Such is the state of affairs of our country.

Politicians, for their survival encourage these type of reservations based on caste. No political party can survive in India without appeasing one section of society or the other. In Tamil Nadu, late MGR once toyed the idea of having economic criteria as the basis for reservation. With a brutal majority and ever lasting Charisma, even he could not take it forward. We have to curse our fate only.

This is the bane of democracy!! We have to live with this albatross around our neck..Do we have a choice?

The total loss to public and private properties and loss to business is pegged at Rs 20000 Crores as per Assocham..Not a small amount...

Whatever said and done..I admire Jaats for their fearless attitude of "don't mess with me".

Jats do not require reservation..But giving reservation to fellow Ahirs (Yadav's)is disturbing the social amity in the rural hinterland...They are demanding that they be be given reservation or else no reservation for any one...Next in line would be Patels!!

Jats do not require reservation.

Why not?

If everyone else can have reservation why can't Jaats have too?

We need more Jaats in central positions like IAS etc..Brave men rule better.

Do you know , jats are considered lower in caste heirarchy than yadavs.?

But jats in some states are land holders and well off farmers.

They have a reputation for masculinity and more muscle than brain.

No one fools around with their women.

They can take on anyone .

Even their women are very ferocious!

May be a Jaat should be PM!

The basic issue is originally reservation for a fixed period of time was envisaged for socially deprived persons who were included in scheduled list and called SC/ST.

Dalits, adivasis were included there.

But in ninetees, mandal ensured that backwards were included in a separate list and they got reservation with total capped to 49-50 %.They were not socially

backwards in the sense that they were not made social. outcastes or treated inhumanly by others. The issue was they were more economically ,educationally backward

and dtd not have access to english education. They were sub classification into BC,MBC,OBC etc. But the cap was 50%..Jats , patidars, kamma , pawar some of whom

are landowners are fighting to get into this group. Initially they were anti reservationists. Now they have joined the reservation band wagon and and want get into the

charmed reservation class,. They want preferance in govt jobs and university education quotas.

Post 1991 liberalisation, technology created high growth but not jobs. That is the basic issue. All want secure govt jobs and easy life.

Same is the case with brahmins. Some are well educated and have good jobs, But there is an economically poor section in brahmins with low education there also who

feel discriminated in getting govt jobs.

We have opened the pandoras box by continuing with reservations without fixed tenure. Time to have new look and consider scrapping the reservation for most and

having only economically weak to have quotas and reservations

I agree with Biswaji's post, or declare everyone in India as OBC.

Yup agree with Prasadji. Or declare everybody a Brahmin! Not sure which idea would be more palatable.

Reservation should be on economic basis only whether in India or in the US.

May be a Jaat should be PM!

I think this is a very slippery slope using stereotypes to fill jobs.

If we go down that path PM jobs should only be filled by Brahmins as they have traditionally filled the role from Chanakya to Peshwas. The job of the King (or modern day President) could be held by a Jat though.

Alas, the President post is currently held by a Brahmin. No doubt we are in Kaliyuga.

The recurrence of violent protests led by relatively well-off communities demanding reservation, be it Patidars in Gujarat last year or Jats in Haryana this year, is perplexing. The Jats are a relatively prosperous land-owning community in Haryana and are regarded as being high on the “social ladder” in the region. Their political and social might is even more evident in the influence they wield in rural areas and in the leadership of the dominant political parties in the State. The National Commission for Backward Classes had in the past come out with specific reasons against the inclusion of the Jats in Haryana in the Other Backward Classes (OBCs) list. This was overruled by the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government at the Centre through a notification in March 2014, promising a special quota for Jats over and beyond the 27 per cent reservation for OBCs in jobs and higher education. It was left to the Supreme Court in March 2015 to reiterate the reality and to quash the decision of the UPA to include Jats in nine States among OBCs, stating that “caste” alone could not be the criterion for determining socio-economic backwardness. Clearly, even if the demands do not make any constitutional or legal sense, the bipartisan consensus over extending reservations has emboldened protestors among the Jat community. After all, the Bharatiya Janata Party in power too had voiced support for the implementation of the March 2014 notification.

From a whatsapp group - it is making rounds

Reservations cannot be abolished but reservation must be afforded to any 'group' that asks.
I agree with Sri Prasad's suggestion. Anyway the message below is interesting

All those who are asking for minority status, then and today, ought to be ashamed of themselves.

You owe a lot to this nation. Pay back, rather than asking from nation.

Kindly circulate. Let it reach to all those who are already minority and to all those who are still asking for special status.
