INSANITY - IS RELIGION THY SYNONYMN?

With man's quest to know the Eternal Truth, to find the Divine Supreme, evolved what is termed in English language, 'Religion' and in Tamil 'மதம்'.

As is with anything founded by mortal men and not by the immortal divine, religions are many.

As is with anything founded by mortal men, most wars and battles are fought in the name of religion, most hatred is perpetrated in the name of religion.

Religious persecutions are rampant and a global phenomenon, each religion claiming supremacy and superiority over the rest.

Almost every religion claims to have a scripture purportedly theirs exclusively; Christianity has a 'Bible', Islam has a 'Quran', Sikhism has the 'Adhi Grant', Hinduism has a galaxy of scriptures etc etc.

Does any of the so-called-religious scriptures promote or propagate malice or hatred towards members of other religions? No.

Does any of the so-called religious scriptures mandate perpetration of hatred or jihad or persecution of members of religions not its own? No.

Zeal and Passion for anything one's own is basic common instinct and is understandable. Looking at it from one angle, it is sub-standard and that is a different subject for debate or discussion in a different thread altogether.

But do men introspect and self-examine themselves and take stock of what religion has done to them? Did religion indeed connect them with the most supreme divine? Does zeal and passion for a religion make them better human beings or better beasts?

Is religion our choice? Did we choose to be born in a religion?

Before being born, did we research and eventually concluded that a particular religion is the greatest, the only truth and hence choose that religion?

Yet don't men behave and assume as if religion was their choice!!!!

Is not religion imposed on us?

A very vital question, is religion indeed mandatory to connect with the supreme divine? Did He, the supreme divine, creator of all, found religions? If yes, why would He found so many religions and cause men to war and battle among themselves in the name of religion? Why would He watch like a mute spectator and have fun when His so-called greatest creation (?????) kill themselves in the name of religion?

Is religion mandatory to realize the Eternal Truth? Can't Truth be realized without religion?

What causes the Zeal or Passion for a religion? Is it because we assume, 'It is because of MY birth in a particular religion, that religion is great and true'?

A zealous hindu, had he been born in islam or christianity, he would be zealous about islam or christianity respectively.

Likewise a zeaous muslim, had he been born in hinduism instead, he would be zealous about hinduism.

So Zeal or Passion is not absolute. Zeal or Passion are relative. Don't they lose credence then!!!

மதம் உங்களை சிறந்த மனிதர்களாக ஆக்கியிருக்கிறதா அல்லது மதம் பிடிக்கவிட்டதா?

If a book or text or so-called scripture has not made you better men but on the contrary caused insanity in you, does it not deserve to be banned or burnt? Is that book worthy of terming 'Scripture'? Is it not bane to call it scripture?

When religion has caused division among men, when it has caused men to discriminate among themselves, could it be from divine? Is religion worth embracing?

Please ask this question to your own selves and answer to your conscience:

IS IT BY VIRTUE OF MY BIRTH IN MY RELIGION IT IS GREATEST OR DID I CHOOSE TO BE BORN IN THIS RELIGION BECAUSE THIS RELIGION IS GREAT?

IS MY ZEAL AND PASSION FOR MY RELIGION BASED ON TRUE CONVICTION OR IS IT IMPOSED, IS IT AN ILLUSION?

IS IT I WHO FOUND MY RELIGION? IF NOT WHY AM I BEHAVING AS IF I FOUNDED MY RELIGION?

DO I OWN MY RELIGION OR DOES MY RELIGION OWN ME?

IS THERE ANY UNIVERSAL LAW THAT MANDATES ME TO BLINDLY ACCEPT AND FOLLOW THE RELIGION OF MY FOREFATHERS?

DO I NOT HAVE THE LIBERTY TO SEEK THE TRUTH MYSELF AND FOLLOW MY CONVICTION EVEN IF IT CONTRASTS OR CONTRADICTS THE RELIGION OF MY FOREFATHERS?

Why should I embrace something imposed on me regardless of my liking?

etc, etc so many questions.

Please introspect and answer whatever questions your conscience asks you.
