That we have risen 9 points is mainly on account of Modi factor..In one master stroke, by direct transfer of subsidies to ones Bank account, opportunity for Corruption has reduced...But lot more needs to be done

[h=1]India less corrupt in 2015 than 2014: Transparency Intl report [/h]

January 27, 2016 12:47

India ranks 76 in a list of 168 countries on corruption in the public sector by watchdog Transparency International, in its annual global review of corruption which is based on experts views' of graft among state employees. That's nine points up from the 2014 list, where it scored 85.

Transparency International, a global charity with over 100 national chapters, ranked 168 countries corruption in the public sector on a scale of 0 to 100, with lower scores reflecting levels of corruption and higher scores being seen as very clean.

Denmark retained the title for having the most honest public sector in the world for a second year, with a score of 91, down from 92 last year.

If you read the score from the table, you will notice that India's score per se has not gone up wrt 2014 but is better in ranking as others have deteriorated in score!

Now look at the mischief of "sickular" newspaper, The Hindu. The anti-NDA newspaper chopped off the first two paragraphs of the News item and you do not find the mention of India at all. Really sickening :

The punch-line of anti-Hindu, Hindu newspaper is : [h=2]Transparency noted that in places like Guatemala, Sri Lanka and Ghana, citizen activists have "worked hard to drive out the corrupt.[/h]

It is funny that we can arrive at two opposing views, even after reading same news. It must be the color of the glass. LOL:cheer2:
The Berlin-based corruption watchdog Transparency International (TI) has put India at rank 76 out of 168 countries in its latest Corruption Perception Index.
The country’s 2015 corruption perception score remains the same as last year’s – 38/100 – showing lack of improvement. India shares its rank along with six other countries: Brazil, Burkina Faso, Thailand, Tunisia and Zambia. China fared worse than India and Brazil at rank 83 with a score of 37. TI has also noted that Pakistan is the only country among the SAARC countries, to have improved its score this year, though its rank remains poor at 117.
Major scandals such as the one in Brazil’s state oil giant Petrobras involving massive kick-backs have resulted in the country's rankings plunging sharply this year. Graft allegations surrounding Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak has also been cited as an instance of why that country scored poorly at 50 over its last year’s score of 52.

China has overtaken India in terms of the level of corruption. However, corruption in India continues to remain the same as it was a year earlier with the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) at 38 points the same as in 2014.
In an annual report by global watchdog Transparency International (TI) published on Wednesday India continued to be at the 76th spot with 38 points, the same as 2014. China however dropped to 83rd position with 37 points from 36 points in 2014.
Brazil suffered the sharpest fall as it tumbled to 76th place out of 168 countries, down seven positions from 2014. Latin America's largest economy was rocked by a massive corruption scandal at state-run companies, including oil giant Petroleo Brasileiro

India has become slightly more corrupt — from 36 in 2013 to 38 in 2015 — may be due to change of government!

The discussion on the subject - and the way the press (and certain sickular media) has reported the contents of the index table - is very interesting. It is heartening to note that India has fared a bit better in controlling corruption even though much more needs to be done. The problem in our country, apart from politicians, government officials, corporate bosses - known for corruption / favoritism, is corruption in MEDIA and JUDICIARY. The so-called elite / intellectuals / eminent people / service organizations also keep a blind eye on certain issues based on their (vested) interests. Courts take decades to expedite trials and punish the guilty - but unnecessarily (?) wasting time in trivial issues like ban on Jallikattu, Entry of women to Sabarimala temple, questioning the Central Govt on imposition of Presidents' rule in Arunachal Pradesh etc., which have less impact on controlling / avoiding corruption.

Central Vigilance Commission, CBI etc. should expedite early disposal of cases relating to corruption. We see quick disposal of cases involving Govt servants, Bank officials etc. - but the same yard stick is not applied to politicians and industrialists. The Marans, Kanimozhi, Raja are still roaming around happily - even though all of them have indulged in huge corruption. The media never speaks about corruption by Congress party big-wigs. Probably a revamp in Judiciary with ruthless Lok Ayuktha will certainly improve India's image in preventing / eradicating corruption.

We need to be less sensitive about corruption and not organise witch hunts .

We can concentrate on economic development instead of wasting our resources on wrong priorities like corruption.

With economic prosperity and abundence besides minimal controls and quota licence raj we should do well

You have mixed up the score obtained and the rank attained. The higher the score, the better the rank. India is ranked 76th in the world (and not 38th) and this score of 38 is higher than 36 in 2013 (as per what you have said). At least the TI didnt think India has become slightly more corrupt, Tsk Tsk.

No Sir...Higher the score lower the corruption..We moved from 36 in 2013 to 38 in 2014 /2015 & it means our corruption perception is lower
