[h=1]'Be prepared to accept the roles I assign'[/h]Shekhar Iyer

Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi has been loud and clear in conveying to BJP ministerial aspirants that they should be prepared to accept the role he has for them once he finishes choosing his team.

The leaders are likely to be handed a “take it or leave it” option as he would not want to engage in any nerve-wracking negotiation or pressure tactics witnessed by the BJP earlier.

Keeping his cards close to his chest, Modi has indicated that he would not be able to perform or deliver unless the “best hands” identified by him were given specified tasks.

Barring senior leaders like BJP chief Rajnath Singh and Arun Jaitley, none from the top brass who interacted with him have managed to get an idea of the role they could get once the government assumed office, party sources said.

While Singh is near-certain that Modi will make him home minister, Jaitley has got “good indications” that he will be asked to be finance minister. Other BJP leaders remain in the dark, party officials said.

Sushma Swaraj, who met Modi a day ago, has been offered health or human resource development with an elevation as “special invitee” to the elite club of Cabinet Committee of Security (CCS), which comprises ministers of home, finance, defence and external affairs.

Frightened of Narendra Modi, Dawood Ibrahim shifts base

As Narendra Modi is set to become India’s Prime Minister, country’s most wanted underworld don Dawood Ibrahim has gone hiding to an undisclosed location near Afghanistan-Pakistan border, which is under the control of Taliban. His earlier base was Karachi.

According to a report in DNA, Dawood feared a commando-type operation and is supposed to have relocated his base to a remote corner. Reportedly, don has also got the ISI to upgrade his security. The report quoted an intelligence report as saying, "With Modi coming to power, he is mortally afraid."

During the election campaign, Modi had given a statement to a Gujarati news channel saying that if he is voted to power, he would bring Dawood Ibrahim to India from Pakistan. Now that Modi is in power, the broad anticipation of the intelligence community is that he will tighten the screws on don.

Indian Intelligence believes that the underworld kingpin lives in Karachi. Although, in an exclusive interview with Mail Today, deserter gangster Chhota Rajan had said Dawood lived in Gulf region.

Frightened of Narendra Modi, Dawood Ibrahim shifts base

I have the confidence that Narendra Modi will deliver and I believe it is the beginning of a golden era for India. As someone said he seems to be above petty thinking and that is something that is very desirable in a politician. With the kind of talent and the cultural heritage that India has, I think the country can reach great heights with someone like Modi at the helm.
