Recently, the small plastic piece which pushes a tiny pin inside the 'timer' of my washing machine broke. Result? The timer knob

rotated about half way freely and then 'caught' the pin which moves the shaft of the timer. I was driven crazy because the red mark

will NOT stop at the zero time but elsewhere! Luckily, the timer knob which was fixed without any screw, was now easily removable!

The 'savior' by name m-seal came to my mind. So, made a small ball of m-seal, placed it
at the center of the inner side of timer knob

and pushed it over the shaft, with the red line pointing to zero time. After 10 hours the timer was back in action with precision!

Dear J J Ji,

I retain my favorite blue but changed the font, since someone else has started using the font I used earlier ! :D

BTW, do you know why the blue soft drink did NOT become popular? I heard that many people are reminded

of the blue liquids used in other' ads - ladies and tiny-tot special products !!

Here is an ad for tiny-tot special:
mamy poko pants

P.S: I don't like to post ladies special! :nono:

If only everyone has got this type of inginuity we can save lot of time and money by avoiding calling the service mechanics who charge a bomb just to visit and diagonise the problem, leave alone replacement of defective part.

This post is ladies special! :)

I am glad that I am not a very tall lady! Wonder why?

All the two side borders poly silk sarees are made for tall ladies. I was unable to wear them at home for two reasons.

1. They are heavy. 2. The top side border irritates when tucked in. Now I have removed the border from the top edge

completely and stitched the cut edge. Now, sarees are very easy to wear and not heavy at all!

P.S: One friend mAmi used to wear silk sarees at home in our village; since my childhood days, I wished to dress up like her!

Chicken Story

Nice Idea

Farmer John lived on a quiet rural highway.
But as time went by, the traffic slowly built up and became so heavy and so fast that his chickens were being run over at a rate of three to six a day.

So one day Farmer John called the local police station and said, "You've got to do something about all of these people driving so fast and killing my chickens."

"What do you want us to do?" asked the policeman.
"I don't care, just do something about those crazy drivers!"
So the next day the policeman had the Main Road’s workers
go out to erect a sign that said:

SLOW:
SCHOOL CROSSING

Three days later Farmer John called the policeman and said,
"You've got to do something about these drivers. The ‘school
crossing' sign seems to make them go even faster!"
So, again, the policeman sends out the Main Roads workers’
and they put up a new sign:

SLOW: CHILDREN AT PLAY

That really sped them up. So Farmer John called and
called and called every day for three weeks.
Finally, he asked the policeman, "Your signs are doing no
good at all ... can I put up my own sign?"

The policeman said, "Sure, go ahead."
He was willing to let Farmer John do just about anything
in order to get him to stop calling to complain.

The policeman got no more calls from Farmer John.
Three weeks later, curiosity got the best of the policeman
and he decided to give Farmer John a call. “ How’s the
problem with those drivers. Did you put up your sign?"

"Oh, I sure did,” replied Farmer John, ”and not one chicken
has been killed since then. I've got to go. I'm very busy."
He hung up the phone.

The policeman was really curious and he thought to himself,
"I'd better go out there and take a look at that sign … it might
be something that WE could use to slow down drivers."

So he drove out to Farmer John's house, and his jaw dropped
the moment he saw the sign.

It was spray painted on a sheet of wood....

NUDIST COLONY

Go slow and watch out for chicks!

Keep Smiling ....

When I am in a hurry, some shop keepers give torn rupee notes, while giving back 'change' for Rs. 500! Only when I rearrange the

notes in my purse, I notice them! :( The shiny cello-tape will stand out like a sore thumb, if used for repairing the note. Recently,

I used the magic cello-tape, which is not shiny and a bit translucent. Lo and behold... the repair was invisible! One roll costs Rs. 30

but it is worth the money! The gift packs also appear neat, if this tape is used to fix the wrapper.

20 Great and Helpful Kitchen Tips

20 Great and Helpful Kitchen Tips

1. Wrap celery and broccoli in aluminum foil
d6d26954-2562-463f-9ee8-0eab9d1ccad2.jpg
Wrapping celery and broccoli in aluminum foil and keeping it as airtight as possible can preserve them for up to a month. The reason is that fresh celery/broccoli has the right amount of moisture inside, and by keeping it in the airtight foil, it keeps it fresh and crisp for longer.
2. Fix stale chips and crackers in the microwave
f8978fbb-9bb1-4dce-b4b2-aeb3ff11a75f.jpg
Don’t throw away stale chips or crackers. Instead – put them in the microwave, but be sure to consume them quickly after, since the staling process accelerates once they cool down.
3. Turn a finished jar of spreadable chocolate into hot coco
a61b5304-1459-43ba-af8c-2f1f6068a8cb.jpg
That “empty” jar of Nutella is not really empty, is it? Those leftover bits of delicious chocolaty goodness can be turned into amazing chocolate milk with ease – simply pour hot milk into the spent jar, close the lid and give it a good shake until the residue all mixes with the milk, then pour in a glass and enjoy!
4. Store pineapples upside-down
0a6a685e-928e-4641-b337-18c20bf7dd69.jpg
Ever bought a fresh pineapple and cut it up, only to discover that the top is deliciously sweet, but the bottom is very tart? This happens because naturally, the ripening process begins at the top of the pineapple and slowly moves down. To get the pineapple to ripen faster and be fully sweet, cut off the leafy part and store it upside down, the sugars will travel from the old top to the “new” top and hasten the ripening, leaving you with a sweet and delicious pineapple quickly.
5.Store apples with potatoes
b263fb40-f818-4716-811a-b39937ee24d8.jpg
Apples produce Ethylene gas, which is effective at preventing the potatoes from sprouting.
6. Keep onions and garlic in ventilated paper bags
25d2b342-eae1-4fee-a13f-8fb517b60ed3.jpg
Keeping onions and garlic cloves in ventilated bag will keep them fresh and free of mold for 2-3 months longer.
7. Store lettuce with a paper towel
d728ac69-a5b9-4a67-a48d-4af838e45aed.jpg
When it comes to lettuce, as opposed to the celery, moisture is the enemy. Keeping it in a sealed bag with a paper towel will keep moisture away from lettuce, leaving it crisp and delicious.
8. Store natural nut spread upside down
10be03bc-27f2-4816-a123-a58f232c1c67.jpg
The common way to store natural nut spread leads to the natural oils in the nuts to float upwards, leaving the bottom hard and drier. By flipping the container for a couple of days, you help the oils return to the whole of the spread, making stirring much easier and helping you avoid that terrible, hard bottom layer.
9. Avoid empty spaces in the fridge
d25a69b2-5c60-466a-8645-c9b5ec627ac3.jpg
Every time you open the fridge door, you let the cool air inside seep out, while allowing the warmer room temperature to get in. This forces the fridge to work harder to restore the temperature and can lead to fungus and bacteria to propagate faster (the cold temperature slows this process down considerably). If your fridge isn’t full, keep a few containers full of water in the empty spaces. Water cools down slower than air, helping maintain the surrounding ambient temperature down.
10. Turn leftover mayo into salad dressing
aea381f0-c527-4ce8-967d-c5f9d57e5033.jpg
Every time you finish a jar of mayo, don’t throw it away. The leftover mayo in the jar that you can’t be bothered to scrape out can be turned into fantastic salad dressing: pour in some olive oil, vinegar, and add your choice of herbs, then shake it until the residue is all mixed with the liquids, leaving you with an easy, delicious and free dressing.
11. Before you squeeze citrus, microwave it for 15 seconds
3a2ec1c6-5472-4209-a97e-f32c6b38c877.jpg
It might sound weird, but warm fruit releases juice more easily than a cold one.
12. Wrap banana crowns in cling-film
c93b81f0-59e7-497d-b5f0-34dbe35e6e3a.jpg
Bananas release Ethylene gas, similarly to apples. The only problem with that, is that it hastens ripening and then – rotting. Once harvested, this process begins and cannot be stopped. You can, however, slow it down by wrapping the crowns in cling-film, minimizing the amount of ethylene released. (For even better results, separate all the bananas from the bunch and wrap each crown individually)
13. Fertilize potted plants with spent coffee grounds
ac6af204-db97-4af6-b10b-b5f4f2d1ee4b.jpg
Used coffee grounds are still rich in nutrients, making them wonderful fertilizer for potted plants, and their acidity also helps to keep snails and slugs away. You can sprinkle the grounds on the soil, mix it in the first 2 inches or brew it a-little, and pour the concoction into the flower-pot.
14. Use huggers to preserve cut fruits and veggies
48ad4388-63bb-4456-9177-e78477fb6784.jpg
Cut vegetables and fruit rot faster due to the exposure to air. Use the huggers to keep them fresh for longer.
15. Make ready-for-use herbal butter
afd06e3b-9cdb-430e-ae6c-7ebf99211580.jpg
Chop fresh herbs and place them in an ice tray, then fill with melted butter or oil. This will prevent the herbs from spoiling and give you individual portions of your choice of herb-butter! YUM!
16. Regrow leftovers
098a9631-978d-48cd-b423-7e65e1622270.jpg
The bottom of various green leafy veggies can be regrown. Celery, green onions, lettuce and more can be regrown from the leftover bottoms, using a small container and keeping them watered.
17. Leftover cheese wrappers can be used for storage
a1014792-23a2-435f-a9d1-589bc61b5de1.jpg
Cut the first part of the cheese along with the wrapper, remove the cheese and use the wrapper to seal the rest of the cheese. No more dry ends on your cheese!
18. Get all the mango while keeping your hands clean
8e1440af-fbed-4bd2-8773-d03dcd165cf3.jpg
Cut the mango in halves, grab a glass and use it as a scooper to separate the flesh from the skin. No more wasting mango or getting your hands sticky!
19. Keep your avocado with an onion
1245b2d6-f50e-4bd4-9306-db0991046303.jpg
The sulfur in the onion fumes will prevent the avocado from oxidizing and turning brown. A splash of apple cider vinegar or lemon juice will work similarly.
20. Make leftover pizza crispy again
3c614611-3148-4984-9576-e7ef9d826482.jpg
There are 2 ways to get that leftover pizza crispy again: Put it in a skillet and let the oil in the crust return it into crispy goodness. Alternatively, put it in the microwave with a glass of water. While it’s not as efficient, it’s faster…

BabaMail -Save Time & Money with these 20 Tricks

Just two thoughts:

1. If chips are stale, just throw them in trash can, to escape from tummy trouble.

2. If very hot milk is poured in plastic jar (Nutella) its shape will become funny.

Unless you want to throw away the jar, better use lukewarm milk, to make the coco drink.

One of the tips here says:
. Before you squeeze citrus, microwave it for 15 seconds

A word of caution...never microwave any fruit...all vitamins are totally destroyed.

In fact microwave food is totally harmful for health as the structure of the food and vitamins like B12 which is essential especially for vegetarians is totally destroyed.

Also there are studies that state that microwave food is carcinogenic.

I do not have a microwave at home..its not worth to eat food cooked in a microwave..according to recent Ayurvedic opinion..microwave food is without Prana and is classified as Tamas.

Thanks Renukaji for your useful info..

Dear Renu,

I too don't like the use of microwave oven. Some people think that I am not 'modern' enough when I say that I don't have a

microwave oven at home! :D

Pondering over the 'MadisAr' saree, a brand new idea struck me!
icon3.png

If the 'kachcham' portion is replaced by a wide band, 'MadisAr' saree could be worn, using any double bordered 6 meters saree!

To make 'kachcham': Take enough tape to tie around waist and fix a wide band to this in U shape, to appear like a 'kachcham'.

(48'' - 50" band will be needed for this) A bit of imagination will help! :)

Start the saree as usual, tie it in the front; take the U shaped kachcham, put the right leg over the kachcham and tie the waist tape;

take the upper end of the saree a few inches to the left and tuck it as done for 'MadisAr'; do the wrap over and finally tuck in the

pallu or fix it with a safety pin !

P.S: Those who know to wear the proper madisAr saree can easily follow this idea! :)

When cool, mash it using the mixer grinder. Make pAgu with half cup of jaggery, filter it and add half cup of
