Do we sufficiently appreciate the contribution of Indians living overseas ?

Many Indians who have settled abroad continue to maintain a very strong connection with India, even after living overseas for many years.

Their contribution is not only through remittances. Many continue to support parents and relatives here, maintain homes and property in India, contribute to charities and religious institutions, help with education and medical expenses, invest in India, and remain involved with their extended families and communities.

There is also a less measurable contribution — maintaining Indian traditions and culture within their families abroad and passing them on to the next generation.

Of course, everyone's circumstances are different, but I sometimes feel that the continuing contribution of Indians living overseas to India and to their families here does not receive enough recognition.

What do members here think ? Do we sufficiently appreciate the contribution made by Indians living abroad ?

indians generally living abroad as individual success than more community based,,,,,every life has

its own difficulties....living abroad is not a easy thing....very hard work and many sacrifices for every

individual....not much recognition in his own homeland...ONLY DOLLARS REQUIRED.....i will tell my own

story....when i reach indian airport ...never welcome as indian.....but when i reach USA airport..

im having USA passport...they say....WELCOME HOME....i never heard in india....its sad story..even

when i reached indian airport..they ask ...why did you come to india....but no other country

asked same question about their own citizen like this....only in india....there is no service...

but we have service charge for everything...my own observation...

The diaspora works hard, often under tough, isolated conditions, yet many of them consistently redirect their wealth and emotional energy back to India. Recognizing them as equal stakeholders in our community's future, is a good form of appreciation, rather than some of us back home in India, seeing them as just temporary visitors when they come for visits home.

only money and materials are expected....even as own army service for the country....no respect

yes....many times....they ask...why did you come to india? just example....anybody has guts in world to

disrespect US CITIZEN/US ARMY....the whole country ready for war....we have to learn respecting

own citizens...

How about other way round? The respect for home country. Ironically Indian citizens respect USA more than India though that's beginning to change.

If you are a USA passport holder, when you enter the Indian airport they will ask you why you are coming to India.

Malaysian passport holders are asked many questions upon entering India.
