Many Indians who have settled abroad continue to maintain a very strong connection with India, even after living overseas for many years.
Their contribution is not only through remittances. Many continue to support parents and relatives here, maintain homes and property in India, contribute to charities and religious institutions, help with education and medical expenses, invest in India, and remain involved with their extended families and communities.
There is also a less measurable contribution — maintaining Indian traditions and culture within their families abroad and passing them on to the next generation.
Of course, everyone's circumstances are different, but I sometimes feel that the continuing contribution of Indians living overseas to India and to their families here does not receive enough recognition.
What do members here think ? Do we sufficiently appreciate the contribution made by Indians living abroad ?
