Vedas state that in this visible world, all physical matter is created by the combination of the five elements – also our physical body with its organs etc. - but there are things which we cannot see with our eyes.

We can see a magnet but the magnetic fields surrounding the magnet are invisible to our eyes. Similarly, every

human exists not only of the visible body but possesses some subtle energy fields along with his physical body.

Their names in Sanskrit and English are as follows:

  1. Annamaya Kosa = Physical Body
  2. Pranamaya Kosa = Energy Body
  3. Manomaya Kosa = Astral Body
  4. Vignanamaya Kosa = Mental Body
  5. Aanandamaya Kosa = Causal body

The physical body is in the physical level and can be seen with the eyes.

The subtler bodies can't be seen with our physical eyes.

They exist in the cosmic level.

Our body gives off enough heat in 30 minutes to bring half a gallon of water to a boil.

Our bodies expend a large amount of calories keeping us at a steady 98.6 degrees -

enough to boil water or even cook pasta.

Recap # 7
Red Coral.

Precious coral or red coral is the common name given to Corallium rubrum and several related species of marine Coral.

The distinguishing characteristic of precious corals is their durable and intensely colored red or pink skeleton which is used in making jewels.

Red corals grow on rocky sea bottom with low sedimentation- in dark environments—either in the depths or in dark caverns or crevices.

The original species, C. rubrum, flourishes in the Mediterranean Sea. It grows at depths from 10 to 300 mt.

Red corals have the shape of small leafless bushes and grow up to a meter in height. Their valuable skeleton is composed of inter meshed spicules of hard calcium carbonate colored in shades of red by the pigments of carotenoid.

# 124. Believe it or not

Our ears secrete more earwax when we are afraid than when we aren’t.

The chemicals and hormones released when we are afraid may have

unseen effects on our body in the form of earwax.

Studies have suggested that fear causes the ears to produce more of the sticky substance,

though the reasons are not yet clear.

I remember Shrek pulling out a candle from his ear and lighting it.

Was he afraid of the ogre hunters???

Recap #8.

Emerald.

Emerald is a variety of the mineral beryl. It is colored green by traces of Chromium and Vanadium. Beryl has a hardness of 7.5–8 Mohs. Most emeralds are very brittle.

Emeralds are graded using four basic parameters – the four Cs : Color, Cut, Clarity and Crystal.

Before the 20th century, jewelers used the term water as in “a gem of the finest water” to express the combination of two qualities, color and crystal.

Normally, in the grading of colored gemstones, color is by far the most important criterion.
However, in the grading of emerald, crystal is considered a close second. Both are necessary conditions.

A fine emerald must possess not only a pure verdant green color but also a high degree of transparency to be considered a top gem.

In the 1960s the American jewelry industry changed the definition of ‘emerald’ to include the green vanadium-bearing beryl as emerald.

As a result, vanadium emeralds purchased as emeralds in the United States are not recognized as such in the UK and Europe.

In America, the distinction between traditional emeralds and the new vanadium kind is often reflected in the use of terms such as ‘Colombian Emerald.’

Emerald is a brittle gem. It tends to chip off easily. It is rarely flawless. Chromium - a hard white metal- causes its rich green color.

In ancient times. powdered emerald was believed to cure fever and plague. Colombia is the chief source of finest emeralds.

There are some facts which everyone comes across in life. viz.

If you are right handed, you will tend to chew your food on your right side.
If you are left handed, you will tend to chew your food on your left side
If you stop getting thirsty, you need to drink more water.
For when a human body is dehydrated, its thirst mechanism shuts off.
Chewing gum while peeling onions will keep you from crying.
Your tongue is germ free only if it is pink. If it is white there is a thin film of bacteria on it.
The pupil of the eye expands as much as 45 percent when a person looks at something pleasing.
The average person who stops smoking requires one hour less sleep a night.
Laughing lowers levels of stress hormones and strengthens the immune system.
Six-year-olds laugh an average of 300 times a day.
Adults only laugh 15 to 100 times a day.
Men's shirts have the buttons on the right, while women's shirts have the buttons on the left

# 125. Believe it or not

It is not possible to tickle ourselves!

Even the most ticklish among us do not have the ability to tickle ourselves.

The reason
is that our brain predicts the tickle from information it already has,

like how our fingers are moving. It knows and can feel where the tickle is coming from,

and where to, our brain doesn’t respond in the same way

as it would if someone else was doing the tickling.

In spiritual terms this is called knowing oneself.

"If you know thyself, no one can tickle you pink!"
