Islamic countries to have their own rule violating international norms. Nobody to question them. That is what we learn from our AI crew.
We operated AI 931 on July 26, 2017. After landing in Jeddah ... (three crew members) went for dinner... Our taxi was stopped by Saudi police to check our permits.
On showing them our xerox from immigration and our valid AI ID, we were put in police vans and were told not to use cell phones. Luckily we made a call to (the) hotel and explained the situation and gave our location," said a message by one of the three AI crew members who were allegedly detained in Jeddah last week.
When asked why they were being detained, the crew says they were told that photocopies of passports won't do and that original documents should be shown for checking.

AVOID BUYING ANYTHING CHINESE.
Avoid sympathising the commies who play second fiddle to Chinese.
Both deserve to be thrown in the dust bin.
Chinese products are cheaper. True, cheaper and SUBSTANDARD in quality specially made to cheat the poorer Indians.
We actually pay far more because Chinese products have a very short life time. Some products are so useless, that one is forced to throw them away within a few days !

Why Chinese goods are cheaper than Indian goods - Times of India

There is no need for YOU to lose sleep over snoring. It is only people around you who have to worry
“Sleep apnea can have huge implications,” said Dr. Shankar. There are a number of causes of sleep apnea — obesity is a major cause, he added. Hormonal imbalances or infections and problems in the nose, oral cavity or inside the throat are also causes. Neurological issues or lung problems are other factors that can cause the condition.
While surgery is performed in some cases, in others, doctors recommend lifestyle modifications.
For the married, is divorce one of the lifestyle modifications?

Now, there is no need to lose sleep over snoring
Govt. Stanley Hospital’s lab is helping patients deal with sleep apnea

CHESS
Chess is a mind game and unless you have a mind for the same
It is tough to watch it and enjoy it.
Unlike cricket or football or tennis
where sixers and goals and aces produce thrills and joy amidst the spectators, Chess has no thrill or excitement to offer to the masses.
Being an indoor game, you can't watch it with thousands and thousands of viewers in a stadium which atmosphere produces an electrifying effect of its own.
Since it is not a popular game like cricket to attract the commoners and doesn't help the sponsors to mint money in millions it is not attractive to money minded sponsors and agencies.
It's fans are mostly intellectual and highly interested and dedicated individuals whose reactions are always on a subdued note.
However it's greatness as an intellectual game cannot be belittled by any means
It is a great game of historic importance to our country, being fundamentally a game of Indian origin
In the game of chess, the fact that India is on the top of the list
Is a matter of pride for the nation to boast of.
Thanks to the great intellectual grand masters, we have established a place in the world map of chess.

Symbol worship is not a sin
Idol worship is an accepted way of worship in Hinduism and this is viewed as a sin and idiocy by the Christians and the muslims. According to them, Hindus are barbarous because they worship stones. Already Vivekananda had given a fitting reply to them, but prejudices die hard.

Man lives on symbols. Language is symbolic of the thoughts and emotions in man. Certain gestures like smiling, laughing and crying are symbolic of the feelings in man.

The alphabets that we use in a language are all symbolic. For example if you write the alphabet "a", it does not make any sound but you have given it a sound to convey. So, for a particular sound, you are giving a symbol which you call alphabet.

Similarly mathematics is full of symbols which represent certain laws of nature. A nation has a flag which is nothing but a cloth with a symbol for which you expect the whole nation to show honour.

Similarly music is a symbol of happiness, gratitude, grief, emotion, devotion and so on and a national anthem is after all a song expressing certain feelings of greatness and pride that one feels about his or her nation, the respect for which you show by standing and repeating those lines. If this is not symbolic of the respect that we show, what else is it?

In chemistry, all elements are symbolised. When you write "O2" we know it stands for Oxygen and for its entire properties.

What about the name of a person? If it is not symbolic, what else is it? Otherwise even to identify a known person you have to describe his features or draw the sketch of the person, which practice is followed to catch culprits in certain crimes whose names and identities are not known. Thus life is full of symbols. (continued)

t is time for the peoples of both countries Pak and India, to realize that the enmity between them is causing pain and poverty in both countries and the beneficiaries are the arms dealers and the Chinese. China has succeeded in keeping people divided in order to maximize their influence. It has succeeded in keeping India and Pakistan from being friends and North and South Korea, which are also the same people and have the same language, from becoming one. If India and Pakistan could become the true champions of peace in the coming years, they will be the most powerful in Asia sidelining China. With so many commonalities, is it meaningful for both the countries to indulge inn bickering? A federation of India, Pakistan and Bangaladesh will make it a mighty power.

Why India and Pakistan love each other
India and Pakistan are soon going to celebrate their 70th birthday. The addition of a zero, an invention of the Asian subcontinent, makes birthdays a bit more special not just in Asia but also in...

The government will soon come up with wayside amenities every 50 km on national highways for passengers and truckers, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said on Thursday.
Gadkari said the facilities under the policy, drafted by the ministry, will offer a range of services that will include parking for vehicles, food courts, rest rooms and kiosks for sale of local specialities and help battle unemployment.
THIS IS LONG OVERDUE> THEIR MAINTENANCE, PARTICULARLY THE REST ROOMS ARE AS IMPORTANT AS THEIR LOCATION AND CONSTRUCTION.

NOT EDUCATION ON USE OF TOILETS. BUT EDUCATION IN TOILET. SORRY STATE OF AFFAIRS OF SCHOOL GOING CHILDREN IN MADHYA PRADESH.
A school in Madhya Pradesh's Neemuch is depicting the country's perpetual struggle to educate its citizens as here the students are forced to study inside a toilet because they don't have a roof to protect them from heavy rains. In normal days, the students study under a tree amid scorching heat. According to the lone teacher in the school, the construction of the school started five years ago but till now it has not been completed. This story highlights how the state run schools in the rural areas are deprived of the basic facilities and most of their appeals get restricted to the walls while the students become literate just in name sake.

So far, we do not have a preventive medicine for cold. It is usually said that if you get a cold and if you do nothing about it, you will be well within fifteen days and if you do something about it, you will be alright within a fortnight. The best remedy is half a dozen soft linen hand kerchiefs and ten days in bed. It is said that if you can find a prophylactic remedy for it, you can become a millionaire overnight.
NOW SCIENTISTS SEEM TO HAVE COME OUT WITH A REMEDY. LET US WAIT FOR IT TO HIT THE MARKET.
Scientists in the UK believe they are closer to finding a cure to the pesky common cold everyone on planet earth has had to endure.

A five-year-study on combating rhinovirus, the main virus responsible for the common cold infection has resulted in a surprising and exciting breakthrough.

Brain or mind? Mind your brain
Brain is said to be associated with rational thinking
while mind is said to be associated with feeling(s);
We say we have a mind to help but not a brain to help
We say one is brainless , but never say mindless
So mind and brain seem to be different
and yet on occasions, they seem to be identical .
If you apply your mind or use your brain, you will come to know.
But if one asks me what exactly is the difference
even though I have a mind to answer,
I think, I don't have the brain to answer.
By saying so, I don't know whether
I am confusing your brain or confusing your mind
For writing like this, you can call me brainless,
and I don't mind it (but you can't call me mindless)

To save falling standards in schools, Twenty-five States had recently agreed with the idea of doing away with or tweaking the no-detention policy — wherein a child is not detained till Class 8 — to give a boost to levels of learning.
Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Maharashtra did not ask for a rollback of the policy, however.
The Centre has thus decided to allow States to take the call and to tweak the RTE Act to enable them to do so. The Bill is expected to permit States to introduce exams in Classes 5 and 8.
Students who fail in the exams — to be held in March — will be given remedial training and offered another chance to pass in May. Those who still fail will be detained in the same class.
It is a good move to discipline the students towards studies, instead of asking exemption from every all India competitive exams without properly equipping the students at a young age on the spurious plea that the students from villages are at a disadvantage and are punished

: Even as both factions of the AIADMK gets restive, the Election Commission has said that the matter regarding appointment of office bearers, including V K Sasikala as general secretary, was pending before it die to an “internal dispute” in the party.
Replying to a RTI query posed by ‘Aspire’ K Swaminathan on who is the present general secretary of the AIADMK, the Election Commission said, “It is informed that at present there is an internal dispute in All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. The matter regarding the office-bearers is pending in the Commission.
I have copied and pasted it from Deccan Chronicle. SEE the mistake there which states that "even as........was pending before it DIE due to an......in the party". Instead of DUE it has been printed as DIE. such mistakes have become very common nowadays in all leading newspapers, Poor proof reading
EC is not able to decide on the issue of legality of Sasikala as the General Secretary of the party , probably because, they expect the "internal dispute" within the party to DIE a natural death.

On Tuesday, D. Jayakumar, Fisheries Minister, said both the party and the government were functioning under the leadership of Mr. Palaniswami. The move was seen as an attempt to sideline Mr. Dhinakaran.
Mr. Dhinakaran’s tour will begin from Melur in Madurai district on August 14 and culminate in Sivaganga on October 5. Asked if he would invite Mr. Palaniswami to attend his programmes, Mr. Dhinakaran answered in the affirmative.
Dhinakaran claims that under orders from Sasikala he is undertaking the tour to strengthen and stabilise the party,
