Zafar Sureshwala, one of the wealthiest Muslim businessmen inGujarat, runs a BMW showroom in Ahmedabad. He says that during the religious violence of2002, "Our offices were burned, my cousin barely saved his life."
One year after the riots, he (Zafar) decided tomeet Modi. Afterward, he was branded a sell-out and a traitor by other Muslims."You can't fight all thetime," he says. "We have to live there. Now, we have education, wehave health, we have job opportunities. Just by hanging Mr. Modi, all problemsof Muslims would be solved?"
Zafar continues: "(When I met Modi),I said'I can't even get land in Ahmedabad, being a Muslim. (Modi) opened themap. He said, 'You point. Where in Gujarat or Ahmedabad you want the land? I'llsee that you get permissions in less than nine hours.' "
In the years since that meeting, Sureshwala hasbecome one of just a few high-profile Muslims to publicly back Modi.Sureshwala's critics say his loyalty to Modi is just for personal gain, butSureshwala insists Modi will create a bright economic future for India — andthat he'll give Muslims a place in it.
Most polls indicate manyIndians feel that way, and have Modi way out in front.

All eyes are on Varanasi where PM hopeful Narendra Modi is contesting!
Massive security arrangements are in place with around 25,000 police personnel and 20,000 central forces patrolling the holy city, which has over 16 lakh voters.
