It is shocking to hear that a IAF pilot has been captured by the Pakistan forces and has NOT returned home from duty !! In this moment of crisis, I happen to see the video circulating in the social media.

Apart from being terribly sad, it is so proud to see him stand and deliver with such super heroic confidence and pride !! Right out of our movies !! This is in the backdrop of fighting a mob.

Not a hint of fear or concern in is face. He was a picture of absolute confidence and a super hero for us.

I salute you sir for risking your life to save the rest of us. Frankly a lot of the rest don't deserve you as the hero for protecting them.

Please stop the war hysteria. Let's bring back Abhi home safely !!

And why is no one from the right wing asking - how can our pilots fight in junk mig 21 aircraft against a modern f16 fighter jets ?? As usual, there will be no answer as they cannot even imagine raising such issues with thier beloved govt !!

Coming to the rafale, the old deal was abruptly cancelled and a new deal was done, the offset contracts given to a bankrupt friend. The new deal took more than 18 months to finalise, delaying the delivery.

And these planes are yet to be delivered, will come only in 2020. So when it comes to crisis, our pilots are forced to fight in junk old mig aircrafts risking their lives.

In my regular temple pilgrimages in india, I have never seen a single toilet built anywhere even though I went through numerous villages on the way, not evenin the temple towns where 1000s of people come regularly. But in thier world, it is all done and poor are all very happy. And everyone should vote and bring this govt back.

All the chest thumping that they did on Tue 26 after India did so called surgical strike came down crashing when on Wed 27 Pak shot down one INDIAN MIG and caught alive Pilot Abinandan and held him captive . Added to that they relased a video that showed they treated him well . Now Modi and his Camp have eggs on their face and the only way they want to reignite the flame is to see that Pilot being tortured or executed so that they can reignite the flame from Indian side . These Morons just feed on the Politics of Hatred for Electoral Gains

While I share your disgust, I have to disagree on many points.

You are way off here. Each and every country knows what armaments and equipments other countries have. It is almost open sourced and one can look up at "The Diplomat" (free subscription) and the "Jane's defence" journal a subscribed one.

There are also youtube videos which give comparative military, naval and airforce strength which is sufficient for people like us who do not need a detailed description.

The anti-Modi lobby of our forum seems to have convinced you by their constant outpourings that it is Modi's fault. But what you probably missed is that warplanes are not off shelf delivery items like cosmetics and grocery, and it takes years to deliver a fighter jet. Plus the fighter jets have to be given country specific modifications, changes to be made depending upon terrain and geographical location, the height of mountain ranges etc.

It takes no less than seven years to execute an order after a firm order is placed, unless it is a repeat order for the same type of aircraft whose body frame has already been delivered in the past.

One can blame Modi for hobby, but it cant be taken seriously when his term of office is not even 5 years.

Another issue is that antagonists would not like to have the same equipment in the battle to make it asymmetrical, and if Pakistan is provided with US jets India has perforce has to procure from other sources or at least a different manufacturer from USA

About wasting money on huge statues etc. etc. you should have a quick look at Public Finance where Resource Mobilization and Fund allocation are managed through Budgets passed by the Parliament. It is not as if defence money was stealthily stolen and moved for erecting statue.
