Who is a Brahmana? Is it by birth alone?

We have been discussing this in various threads. The caste system, whether one becomes a Brahmana by birth alone, etc. have been discussed time and again.

Just today I saw an article referred to in another religious forum. This article has a lot of relevance to our discussions.

http://gosai.com/dvaita/madhvacarya/Brahmana-Vaisnava.html

Please read both parts of the article.

This web site is that of
Sri Narasingha Chaitanya Matha, [FONT=Trebuchet MS, Arial, Sans Sarif, Helvetica, Verdana][SIZE=-1]Established by the disciples and followers of Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada and Srila Bhakti Raksaka Sridhar Deva Goswami, to carry out the teachings of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.

This is a religious article and quotes extensively from our scriptures.

If you do not agree with the views expressed in the article, you can say so with your reasons.

But remember this is religious article from a religious organization. So please refrain from expression of scorn, ridicule and such other unbrahminical behaviour. No sectarian politics.

Thank you.

Brahmins by birth are called krupanan. After initiation into gayathri dyanam by a guru he becomes brahmin. But after attaining the gnana he becomes brahmanan
