The day before the sodhakumbam day you have to take one meals at noon and at night you have to take some fruits and milk and if it is not sufficient you can take tiffin lightly to half of the stomach. Fruits and milk taken at night will clear your bowels in the next morning. curd or butternilk will bring constipation if taken at night.

That is why there is a proverb do not take curd at night and milk in daytime. This is only to increase your sradhai for doing sodhakumbam or maasyam or sraatham. After maadhyaanika snanam you should not pass urine and you should not continue to do with out passing urine if the urge is there during sratham time.

That is why if your intake in the previuos night and in the morning upto finishing of sratham if you have not taken anything or in less solid quantity you will have no urge to pass urine and your concentration on the manthras will be more and in its meaning. your sradhai will be more.
