Children learn many crafts and art works in schools .
The fun raising sale included the colourful and useful pot holders
produced by the children themselves at their home.
Two large pot holders joined together make
a lovely, large, colourful and very strong bag!

Dear VR ji,

I am really enjoying myself by self studying Arabic.

I find my prior knowledge of Sanskrit really helpful becos even Arabic has somewhat Sandhi like rules for certain letters.

Letters are divided into Sun(Solar)letters and Moon(Lunar) letters.

There are changes akin to Sandhi like changes when dealing with the letter AL when it is proceeded by Sun letters.

Sun letters remind me of Soft consonants in Sanskrit where Sandhi changes are seen.

Moon letters remind me of Hard consonants in Sanskrit when some letters remain unchanged.

There is also the concept of Dual in demonstrative and personal pronouns in Arabic...making it all easy to understand cos Sanskrit too has the same.

So its so so nice to be seeing similarities in both these languages and the script is just simply beautiful..its romantically cursive.

You have to be Umm kulthum the egyptian singer to sing in arabic

You perhaps can be a clone of ume kulthum of NDTV -A renowned beauty with lots of followers.

I am not really planning to speak it...its more of academic interest of reading it as a comparative study with Sanskrit.

and I am going on finding so much similarity ..for example Arabic has the concept of root words like Sanskrit where modification of root words by adding vowels/diacritical marks and consonants create the meaning of various yet similar core meaning.

The root words format are like how we find in Sanskrit...where its a code of words that at times can not be pronounced till modifications take place by adding vowels or other consonants.

Since Sanskrit had a Panini..I am pretty sure Arabic had an Arabic "Panini" too!

I wonder who...need to find that out!LOL
 
I had a class mate Panini . He is a mysore iyengar.Will he suffice? He may not know arabic. I am trying to be helpful

Arabs do not have any panini look alike as you suspect.

Sanskrit is older than arabic.Possibility that arabic structures got inspired by sanskrit.

I meant who is the Arab equivalent to Panini.

Yes...possible Arabic got inspired by Sanskrit.
 
You know variations of arabic script are used by various languages as arabic is the language of islam.So the arabiv script variations are used in all muslim countries of

erstwhile soviet union, indo -aryan language such as urdu, pushto etc.

In fiftees all policemen in delhi used to write their case book in urdu in arabic script variation.

Many arabic words form part of urdu poetry.

Court language in subordinate courts was urdu.

Now all that has changed with devanagari everywhere.

You know , maldives had malayalam script earlier as malayalis settled there. With spread of islam , they switched over to arabic script .

Islamic countries of africa use arabic script with local variations.

The script is worth learning.

You have clear your throat to produce the sounds of arabic language.

Hear some umm kulsum music. All arabs simply love her music.

Dear Renu,

The alphabets themselves resemble the romantic crescent moon!

With so many dots (bindu) and the writing looks mesmerising.

I also believe they are written from the right side to the left

and from the bottom of the page to the top. Is it true dear???

I am amazed that you have the time, energy and patience

to learn another ancient language in addition to Sanskrit!

Here Tejas puts me off by claiming that Tamil is a useless language! :(

Everything refined prose, music or dance or any form of ART must have its own Grammar and Grammarian
 
A honest and genuine doubt!!!

'Sung blabbering' can be heard on and off in many T.V channels.

No one including the lyricist and the singer knows what is being conveyed!

Spoken blabbering is the seasonal - reaching its peak during elections.

Written blabbering needs no explanation to people who belong to a forum.

Visual blabbering will exhibit itself whenever the person feels that

the written blabbering does not sound loud enough to make up for

his lack of matter!

Matter may lack in the post or in the language or even in the hi-dome itself!

The visual blabbering of one of my dance students just before a Rama Navami dance recital made me perform the Raamaayana song in stead of her to save the program and the day!

QUEST FOR THE BEST.

The spiritual quest demands self examination.
There is no escape by giving self explanation.

The world we see is just a hallucination.
But it creates in us an intense infatuation.

The magnificent five-element combination,
Can stretch far, far beyond our imagination.

Lured by the many objects of fascination,
We often lose the sight of our destination.

God has given us these powers as a donation;
The powers known as those of discrimination.

The power we need for the total elimination;
Of the ‘true’ from the ‘untrue’ in an alienation.

What most of us lack in life is determination;
And thus fail to develop the needed inclination.

The external words is always in domination;
Pushing our sincere efforts into stagnation.

It is time to get rid of all our procrastination;
And come out of our easy and lazy resignation.

We need to give our powers a rejuvenation;
And restore our faith in soul’s reincarnation.

Total honesty is sure to lead to the culmination;
Of our self-knowledge’s complete illumination.

P.S:

Even if the philosophy conveyed by this poem is beyond the grasping power of some people, this will still help them to learn a few new words.

Time is supposed to be a continuous stream flowing eternally.

This is what supports the concept of time travel back to the past or to the future. At times working backwards is easier than working in the forward direction.

When unable to find the way to the centre of a maze we work backwards. It is much more easier to come out of the maze - if we start from the centre. This is a similar attempt in writing simple English poetry.

Instead of starting with a theme and going searching for words which rhyme perfectly, I did the opposite.

I got all the rhyming words and tried to weave them into a poem - with a rational and acceptable theme - to the best of my ability.

These poems are naughty - not because of their theme - but because they were made differently.

The poems had to become long or short - depending on the number of rhyming words at my disposal.

Some of the poems are really good and some are a little weird.

Since it is an experiment, I request you to enter the blog with a lenient and open mind and try enjoy my creations! :welcome:

In the Fund Raising Program in the School, the children sold hand painted and laminated book marks @ 2 book marks per one $

Drawings by children always fascinate me since they use bright coloured crayons and sky is the limit of their imagination.

Some other children had made book marks with popcicle sticks.
