The Raw and The Ripe!

A group of men went to a swamiji for initiation. They all claimed that though they were very raw previously, they have matured and become ripe enough for the initiation.

The swamiji smiled and told is assistant to test their ripeness.

The assistant walked around with a stick in his hand. He beat all the men sitting there one by one. Not a sound emerged from anyone. But one man yelped and yelled loudly a cascade of abusive language.

The assistant told the swamiji "All but this one are ripe enough for initiation Swami!!"

He was right! The ripe ones remain silent but the raw ones crate a scene at the slightest pretext!

இவையே எனக்கு கிட்டிய குருவருள்
பள்ளியிலே என்னை " ஞானப்பழமாக்க"!!

Couples want to have at least one son.
In trying to get a son they keep producing more and more daughters- until they get a son.
Looking around us we find the girls outshining thee boys in every field of activity.
They earn as much or even more than boys do.
They take very good care of THEIR parents.
Still everyone wants only a son or at least one son!

Three words and two alphabets.

“I love you” has three words. “I told you!” also has three words. But there is a world of difference between these two sentences.

The first one suggests that “Anything you do is always OK with me!” The second one suggests “Everything you do is always wrong!”

So while the first sentence is the sweetest in the world, the second is the harshest!

The words ‘love ‘ and ‘told’ have two common alphabet ‘l’ and ‘o’. Just the two simple alphabets which differ, change the meaning and mood of the statements upside down!

What a wonderful power these simple words and tiny alphabets seem to possess!!
 
Someone in my family compared the process of getting a green card

as being equal to climbing 108 steps uphill to a PerumaaL/Murugan temple!

Oh boy! Oh Boy!! Oh Boy!!! Am I happy we have crossed 107 steps and will

just have to reach the 108th step and wait there to collect it! Thank You God!

As we age we have to make many compromises and major adjustments.

Often 'one person' is reduced to 'half a person' with regard to our efficiency

due the progressive( really?!) deficiencies we develop with increasing age.

So now the two people together can make up one whole person. (1/2 +1/2 = 1)

(Example the lame man who can't walk riding on the shoulder

of the blind man who can't see and guiding his steps!)

As long as both the halves exist they can somehow manage.

If one half disappears (when its time comes) then the other half can't carry on.

It is then we need Green Cards and the like...whether convenient or inconvenient

AS my father used to say often," Every ship must reach its port - wherever it might be!" :)
 
Travel is the time when we meet interesting people
who are also interested in listening to us!

I will catch up with all those people one by one!

The boy had a huge backpack and a stubble for a beard.
He was softly humming VarALi rAgA with great proficiency.

While I enjoyed the divine unsung but hummed music
the Chinese man meddling with his smartphone found it very disturbing.

The boy was lost in his own world and was unaware of
both these opposing reactions he was creating.

Just as he was about to leave his seat to go and board the flight,
I congratulated him and he WAS learning classical carnatic music
from one of the greatest lady teachers in Mumbai!
