May the clouds pour down the rain at the proper times!
May the earth produce grains!
May this country be free from agitations!
May men of contemplation be free from fear!

the day dawned well and everything seems to be going on well. :)

Any nitwit can ruin the day by doing/ saying some utter nonsense! :loco:
 
A Splitter serves a specific purpose when connected to the phone card.

But that does NOT make all the chronic splitters do-gooders in any which way!

When they can't find any head for splitting, they will settle down for hair splitting! :rolleyes:

May everyone enjoy good health and be free from diseases!
May everyone enjoy prosperity!
(May everyone see the good side of the things.)
May no one suffer!
 
Our ancestors knew that "NO man is an island" :thumb:

They also knew that no man can be happy when the others are suffering.

So all these svasti vachanams pray for not jut oneself but for
the entire human race and often include animals also in the prayers.

We keep saying "Let noble thoughts come from all directions!"
and keep our ears and mouths shut tightly !

We neither listen to the noble thoughts propagated by the others
nor propagate our noble thoughts to the others!

Even is all the members of the forum and their immediate family members repeat these sasvti vachanams everyday, it will generate and spread tremendous good vibrations.

After the entire creation is made up of nothing but vibrations! Right? :)
 
Previously saris used to printed or woven into attractive designs.

Now pieces of saris are stitched together caring very little for their

compatibility either in their colors or their designs.

The result of such a weird production will be mind blowing ..have no doubts.

The craziest sari i have seen was made out of the left over pieces after

cutting away the chudidhars and tops for the ladies.

The zigzag pieces were meticulously stitched, given a stunning border and sold for an astronomical price.

Yet there was a time - not in the ancient past- when any stitch on sari was considered inauspicious!

LEAD FROM THE SENSE OF LIMITED EXISTENCE TO LIMITLESSNESS OR IMMORTALITY.
 
Another friend ( the wife of hubby-ji's classmate ) has departed to eternity.

It is really amazing that we did not know about it for over 4 months!

An ad has been given in the Hindu and whoever does not buy The Hindu is kept in the dark.

She has lived a good life and produced two more doctors (daughters) to take up her profession.

She has lived close to 8 decades but the 80+ husband has not yet reconciled to her demise

even though he knows that she was suffering from cancer in the intestines.

When it is time to go, things favoring the transition start to appear from nowhere!

 
The other class mate who lost his wife in a road accident and whose children are N.R.Is prepares his own food.

The classmate who has daughters living in the same city, has locked up his house and shifted to one of his daughters' house!

Those who have to cook find the time/ energy and get the required training in cooking.

Those who don't have to cook sulk and brood and spend the days feeling miserable!

Moral of the post

Any man over sixty should spend sometime in the kitchen to get familiar with cooking when wife is around. He will have the benefit of of wife's training and

supervision.
 
The younger generation of boys are smarter. :thumb:

They learn to cook and survive while
they are still scholars studying abroad. :nerd:

The wife can never threaten any of them saying,
"Mein mai ke chale javoongi thoo dekthe raho!" :rolleyes:

They will be only to happy to learn and experiment on
some new dishes during her absence! :wave:

Om! Brahman was whole before the creation.
Brahman is whole after the creation.
Even if the whole is removed from the whole
what is left over is again the whole.

ஓம் சா'ந்தி சா'ந்தி சா'ந்தி: ||

May I be at peace and be free from the three types of obstacles namely those centered around me, those caused by the other living beings and those caused by the natural forces.
 
I always meet another elderly couple while on the morning walks.
He must be around 85 and she 77 as per my guess.

He shows interest in my writings - though I am not sure whether he ever visited any of my blogs.

Their mother tongues is Telugu - though they speak Tamil as well as we do - if not better!

When asked what I was writing about now I said "Thirumanthiram" and assumed that I will have to explain what it is all about.

But I was stunned when the old gentleman not only recognized what Thirumanthiram was but also started reciting several verses from that great work comprising of 3000 verses.

He went on to compare the concepts in Kural with those in Thirumanthiram.

I did a big namaskaram to him saluting him for his deep knowledge in an alien language, his sharp memory power and the depth of his understanding.

I wish he would start writing so that it will reach more people all over the word.

We never know what specialty/talent lies hidden under those wrinkled faces and silver haired crowns!
 
Dear VR ji,

I made beetroot halwa 2 days ago and it tasted simply great.

It was my first time making beetroot halwa and I modified the recipe.

I used evaporated milk instead of fresh milk and also used raw unprocessed cane sugar instead of white sugar...So the beetroot halwa ended up having a rich natural flavor.

You know how I know it tasted great?

Its becos my mother loved it!

My mum usually does not eat what I cook cos she will find some fault or the other..but this time it was something she had never seen or eaten in her life and she was totally surprised to see a beetroot halwa and loved the taste.

So finally my mother actually ate something I made without finding fault!

My sons use unrefined sugar instead of white sugar.
It tastes so different and natural. But the name they use
for it as brown sugar caused me initial worry.
Dried milk / condensed milk will speed up the process.
I am glad that you are glad that your mom is glad!!! :)
