Lovely Copper magnetic bracelets which DO work wonders!!!

I wish they have something to treat the swollen ankles as well.

When confined to a seat for a long time, all the fluid in the body,

seems to move down and stay put there, :couch2:

feel too lazy to go up again - against the force of gravity. :bored:

The net result....???

we develop skin coloured and skin covered thaNdai, veerak kazhal and what not

depending on the time we spend on the hot seat! :fear:

Tarun loves light (ait in his language!)

Now he knows about shade, shadow, reflection, refraction, dispersion

and the spectrum of colours as reflected by the used an C.D.
He calls me ait!

I feel both happy and honoured since
he associates me with light and brilliance! :humble:

I bet he will call me as ait paatti when he is able to talk!

The distance to be travelled was ~ 450 miles.

The theoretical time needed is 450/ 60 = 7hr 30 mins.

The actal time it takes it ~ 12 hours!!!

With two very oldies and two very young kids out of the 6 passengers

and with umpteen stops at rest rooms this is bound to happen.

That is why theory is different from reality!!!

It is safer to take the average speed at 40 mph to get more realistic estimates!

After all we will only be happier - if we can reach before the estimated time !!! Right???

Why would people have perforated steps in Hotel stairs -

when the elevator service is also NOT available.

Perforated anything is used to keep out stray cattle -

not the old men and ladies using a walking stick

from entering the rooms reserved by / for them!

Screnarians NEED not be men and women sitting in front of a T.V or P.C.

Today everyone is screenarian...everywhere!!!

The infant watches the alphabet songs.

No song = No eating food!

The toddlers is busy with the games on I pad.

They are lost to the world and are in the depths of

the deepest meditation possible at that tender age.

The husband and wife are busy with their e mails, lists, bookings,

reservations and other business even while eating at the table.

So the old man and the old lady - who do not know to use

the smart phone smartly - are the two watching the others helplessly.

AND when there is no internet everybody feels lost and helpless

angry, hungry, upset and grumpy with those simpletons

who do not seem to miss the internet even a little. :pout:

82. Pain Gate Theory

Pain originates within the body and is difficult to be measured objectively. Pain perception is highly subjective. It is a matter of one’s mind. Cultural factors, personality and mental attitudes influence the sensation of pain. Extroverts report more pain than introverts.

Whether or not we feel the pain is determined by more than the nature and intensity of the external stimulus. Women seem to bear the pain better than their male counterparts. The feat performed by the Indian fakirs by sleeping on a bed of nails would be unthinkable–even in the wildest dreams of the westerners.

That the pain can be controlled by thought alone has led to the new theory of pain perception, called The Pain Gate Theory. In order to feel a pain, the pain signal must be strong enough to force its way through the pain gate–a real anatomical structure in the spinal cord.

This pain gate protects us from trivial pains and aches. Cortex which produces endorphins, the natural pain killers in the brain, feeds this gate. Its release can effectively close the pain gate and decrease the level of the pain experienced.

Nerve fibers with small diameter carry the pain stimuli through the pain gate. Nerve fibers with larger diameter passing through the same gate can inhibit those pain signals carried by the smaller ones.

Chemical released in response to the pain stimuli also influences whether the gate is open or shut to the pain signals. The pain gate can be shut, by stimulating the nerves carrying the touch signals, through massage techniques, rubbing, application of ice packs etc.

Acupuncture stimulates the release of natural opioids, chemicals inhibiting the transmission of pain signals. So to say, “We can fight one pain with another pain”.

82. Pain Gate Theory | The wonderful world we live in

The beds and pillows were on the extremity of (dis)comfort!!!!

They were so fluffy and so soft that they offered no support to any part of the body.

Getting up from the bed was an ordeal since all the body parts had to be

properly aligned before getting up from the bed and down the cot

and stand on one's own feet was made possible.

The worn out joints (with extra degrees of freedom)

and the extra soft bed (which do not restrict that freedom)

form a terible combination for the senior / super seniors.

May be I do not know my own strength.

But when the fridge moved out of its wooden casing -

when its door was opened by me was enough

to startle me to push it back inside and never

go near it again, as long as we stayed there. :bolt:

In U.S.A, crossing a road anywhere except the Zebra lines might be fatal.

But for me it was wonderful. :)

Our parked car and the shop I want to go to were exactly

on opposite sides of the same road.

The Zebra crossing was (according my standard) far far away.

I took chance and walked across the street.

One car sped fast without hitting me. The other car stopped and the lady inside

waited till I crossed the road at my snail speed.

She stopped the car and pulled down her window.

I should have expected some rude words for not following the traffic rules.

Imagine my surprise when she said,

"You look so beautiful in your blue dress! I love Indian fabrics!!"

She was a mehandi artist and showed me her left hand which

she had decorated with beautiful intricate designs.

She must raking money during the spring, summer and fall.

Everybody loves everything Indian ...except you-know-who!!! :(

Note:

I was wearing a churidar made from a copper sulphate coloured poly cot sari.

Moral:

Swollen ankles and a fallen molar crown or a walking stick

need not stop you from looking or feeling beautiful.

My molar crown came off with the chocolate cookie I tried to eat.

Oh boy! Am I happy I did not swallow it with the cookie -

causing more problems ... physical, emotional and monetary!!!

It was a place in the middle of nowhere.

But it has a very high reputation for the veriety of sandwiches offered there.

We can select what all need to go in between the two slices of bread!

It was a cold sandwich but the place was buzzing with

more people than it can actually accommodate - since

the service and reception were warm and cordial. :thumb:

A middle aged lady was the one who must be drawing the crowds there -

with her honest face, frank smile and genuine concern to please the customers.

She too paid me a compliment when she said,

"I love the purple colour you are wearing and the comfortable dress.

I love Indian fabrics. They are so cool and look so rich!"

She was all the more surprised to learn that I had made that dress myself from a sari.

I gave her one of my business cards which she wanted to display in her gift shop.

Can you guess what was the most colourful and attractive item

that impressed me in that small but crowded gift shop?

What are these colourful attractive bags made up?

They are made up hundreds of - if not not thousands of gummy wrappers

with which we people usually litter our roads, towns and cities! :(
