ஓர் அரண்மனை வாயிலில் நாயைக் கட்டி வைக்க வேண்டும் என்று மன்னன் விரும்பினான்.

அது கொஞ்சம் சிரமம் என்பதால். அதற்கு மாறாக நாயைத் தத்ரூபமாக கல்லில் செதுக்கி, அதை

அரண்மணை வாயிலில் அமைத்தனர். அதனை சற்றுத் தொலைவில் இருந்து கண்ட பொது

ஜனம் ஒருவர், அதை உயிரோடு இருக்கும் நாய்தான் என்று எண்ணினார். சில நாட்கள் கழித்து

அதனைப் பார்த்த அவர், ஒரு நாய் எவ்வாறு ஒரே இடத்தில் அமர்ந்திருக்கும் என்ற சந்தேகத்தில்

அருகே சென்று பார்த்தார். அப்போதுதான் அது நாய் அல்ல கற்சிலை என்பது விளங்கிற்று.

அப்போது அந்த நிகழ்வைக் குறிக்கும் விதத்தில் 'கல்லாகக் கண்டபின் அங்கு நாய் இல்லை.
நாயாகக் காணும்போது அங்கு கல் தெரியவில்லை', என்று கூறினர். :decision:
