but "Popular Brahmins" thread was given

!!!

What makes these two titles do different???

Dear VR ji,

It is simple....Eminent is like the critics award movies where only a selective panel of people feel the movie is worth a watch.(mostly art movies)

Popular is like popular award movies where general public love with all full garam masala in it.

So the popular Brahmin thread has more garam masala in it!LOL

Hello VR Mam, to the post 545,:frusty: ,:whip: to these offenders ,if not at least:tape: ,so it does not become contagious. True Fact ,but makes  .

Pop goes pop everywhere...music, drama, art, topics and anything else we can think of!cool:

In a contest for lighting maximum number of candles with a single match stick,
the popular chain smoker won the first prize.
So he must have been helping his gang
by lighting up their cigarettes after lighting his own. :bump2:
No need to be a smoker!!

I won this competition once, by holding the flame vertically upwards! :thumb:

Both the thread OPs are the SAME! Somehow members started responding to the 'popular' thread!! :typing:

P.S: I am surprised why the 'eminent' thread is still sitting in the GD!

There is an easy way to remember the 'nAmams' of the two sub-sects of Iyengars. (This is how I remember :D )

Vadakalai Iyengars have only 'U' nAmam which goes only UP - North - Vadakku in Tamil.

Thenkalai Iyengars have the 'Y' nAmam which has an extension downwards - South - TheRku in Tamil.

 right?

It is sliding back and will disappear from page 1 soon.
So people think it is easier to become popular than to become eminent! :decision:

U => Uththara desam = North India
Y => Downward = > dakshina desam
Iyers have three parallel horizontal lines.
Any distinction between the Vadama and the 'other ma'??

People boast with pride that they are born brahmins.

But some persons emit 'koovam' river when they :blah:

More often they emanate than just emit!!!

It is said that certain stars fall under the category of Deva ganam
and a few others under Asura ganam.

If Deva were anything like this deva ganam
I will prefer the asura ganam any day! :fear:

I went to meet my long time friend. She was out of station.
Her husband was sitting outside their house.

I asked him about her but he did not want to disclose anything. I just told him to tell her that I had come a few times but could not meet her.

Immediately he started,
"You seem to be complaining about her absence!
Why should we be here whenever you come to see her.
Why should we tell everyone where we go and when we will be back?":blah:

I sympathized with my friend for being tied up to such a man for life! :tsk:

Once I and my friend were attending a family function of a common friend.

Luckily we got to sit together and were chit chatting happily.

Suddenly her husband appeared before us red faced (for what???)

and asked in a very harsh voice

"pesi mudichchaachchaa?" :mad2:

I replied casually,

"Illai innam konjam pesuvom!"

He glared at her in a such a way that she trembled visibly. :fear:

Neither would he speak to her gently/lovingly

nor could he stand her talking to another person lovingly/ gently

What kind of a jealousy and possessiveness!!!

May be this because of 'poorva janma pAvam?'
icon4.png

Must be since she has done nothing to deserve this man as husband in this janma.
She used to teach, take tuition, sing, stitch and be very active.
Now she has become a full time house keeper, gardener and cook.
Dusting the house has become her main job. :tsk:

Children learn so fast.

Little VaruN wants to type in the key board
hieroglyphic and mathematical formulas
when we chat in Skype. :)

He bends down like a Super kid

from his daddy's arms
in order to reach the keyboard. :typing:

When given a dummy keyboard ...
he knows the difference and
starts to protest loudly!!!

The Brugu muni's residence is a full fledged old age home now. :flock:

One of the loudest old women living there has difficulty in walking
but it is more than compensated in her talking. :blah:

Whenever she reaches a couple of steps, she will freeze there
until a passerby takes pity on her and helps her down or up those steps.

She does not want to follow my motto

தடி உடையான்/(ள் )
படிக்கு அஞ்சான்/(ள் )

She was screaming off her head today to some distant relative living in a great distance, but it did not really matter since she could be heard there directly - wherever that place was in earth!

Her message is even more attention catching. She named some 6 to 8 persons to whom she has to give (or wants to give Rs. 25 K each)

She has the liquid cash with her ready for distribution. All they had to do was to come and grab their share (of the windfall / loot)!!!

This kind of invitation from and to a house full of oldies!!!! :faint:

And I have never seen her pay money to the call-taxis and autos she keeps calling, after counting it out.

She always grabs a handful of notes, gives it and keeps asking
"போறுமா இன்னம் வேணுமா?"

Royal family living off the privy-purse???

Being physically challenged does not deter this mami from plunging headlong into the crowd

to witness the KoNiyamman car festival- to which even normal people will need to courage to visit.

Why are most of the diseases said to be progressive????

1. Is it because they become more severe as days roll along????

2. Is it because they affect us earlier than they did our ancestors???

3. is it because it is the price we pay for our so called progess made in the world???

THAT mother promised me never to HIT her daughter again!

But suppose she raps her,

or pinches her, or scalds her

after taping her mouth to silence her???

An undercurrent of doubts was swirling at the bottom of my mind.

Today my doubts were cleared.

The girl came running to my window smiling broadly

when I called out her name softly.

She has come out of the constant fear of severe punishments

and slappings in the public areas by her mother.

She has two new friends to whom she can discuss her problems

boldly and frankly...her mom and me.

The mother also flashed a smile for the first time in all these years!

So no hard feelings form her side.

It was worth the effort climbing up the stairs to reach their house - despite

the odds against it.

Yahoooooooooooo!!! :thumb:
